Man this channel takes up so much of my time in a great way. Such an amazing channel with incredible content that doesn't make me feel bad because I'm actually learning shit about bands I've loved for 2 decades or more.
Literally one of my all time favorite bands. Asian Man records and all of its many incredibly bands, both new and old, have shaped who I am as a person. Hell yeah very excited to watch this
Good Mourning came out when I was in 9th grade. At the time, i was just getting into horrorpunk with Misfits and Murderdolls. The Trio solidified my appreciation of punk.
Thank you so much for including the STL connection. They played here with 330 or traded shows with bands like Dig Dug so much that they were kinda thought of as a local band in the late 90's and most histories of the band leave that out. Also, thanks for the heads up on the Pocket Bomb comp, now I can add that song back to the playlist.
Thanks for the video been listening to this band since maybe I’ll catch fire and saw them at an old punk club called the globe in Milwaukee in 2000. Favorite album is maybe I’ll catch fire and favorite drummer is Glenn Porter thanks again for all your videos. Great job!
thank you for this video, i love this band so much, i think ive been a fan of them for around 9 years now, and i feel this is one of the few bands i just cant get bored of...cant wait for part 2
Uploaded 10 hours ago?! Hot-damn, great coincidental timing-I've been sitting here for the past two hours watching all of the miscellaneous demo, drum tracking, and live footage videos that Derek's been uploading over the past several months. Your video started to auto-play before I could get back to Derek's channel. For some bizarre reason I automatically assumed this would be an older piece on A3, but I am thoroughly delighted by how recent it is. (At the time of writing this, obviously. Haha.) Maybe this will sound ridiculous, but finding little joy-nuggets like this in life, really focusing on and appreciating them, then banking that joy in your brain for later really helps to keep me from totally losing my mind. It's the little things, ya know what I mean? (This sounds like some hippie-dippy, woo-woo nonsense that someone who just charged their crystals' energy in the moonlight would say, hahaha.) ANYHOO, on with the show . . .
I've seen alkaline trio open for a lot bands live but I've never really listened to any of their studio music. I can't really think of anything too stand outish about their sets but also can't think of anything to complain about. So good job guys. 👍
I live in McHenry. Slapstick was the shit. Was born in Elgin, lived in lake in the hills, now reside in McHenry. Alkaline is one of my favorite bands beyond the hometown hero band
Love the trio! Mike Felumlee actually helped release the first Drowns record via his Live From The Rockroom label/channel. Good guy, and his work with Alk3 and Smoking Popes is stellar!
Legend has it, Glenn Porter was kicked out because of what he did. Allegedly his girlfriend broke up with him. Shed get together with Blake from Jawbreaker, not too long after. That set him off so much that he SHAT in a box and mailed it to her. Hence why they fired him 😅
I’ve heard that story too, but I’ve come across a couple of separate versions, one where he mailed it to Blake and another where he mailed it to Heather instead 🤔 Either way it’s a hell of a way to get kicked out of a band 😂😂
Jack, I want you to do a two part Lagwagon series next. You covered RKL numerous times we know, and the ties between the two bands are many. I know you want to, just saying....long time coming
Derek is favorite drummer because of his work ethics and contributions to writing, but Glenn's drumming style is something different. Nobody plays like him, his open handed position works wonders in his Goddamnit parts. Derek is great, but Glenn is unique.
I get the hype people give for From Here To Infirmary, but some songs such as Private Eye have a weird snare sound which sounds like there's a cowbell or something like that buried somewhere in there, which bothers me. Anybody know anything about this?
Its not a cowbell but I think I know what you're talking about. It could be a click track for timing or the bass guitar. Sometimes a bass will make that noise depending on the mix. Not 100% but just a guess. I love that album btw, lol!
Thanks so much for the video! I have a pretty fun story about how I discovered Alkaline Trio. I was on tour with my Canadian band, Deville, in 2001, and we happened to be in Milwaukee. We played a show there and had a few days off. We were staying with some local friends and one morning, two of them asked me if I wanted to go see Jeffrey Dahmer's house. I was obviously into that, so I said yes. As soon as we got in the car, they put in a tape. After a song and a half, I had to ask them to stop the car and asked, "Who the hell is this?!" They had put in the Alkaline self-titled album with most of the B-sides, with the tape on the cover. That moment changed my life and I have been a huge fan ever since. P.s. we did end up going to Dahmer's place, though at that time it was just a pile of rubble from the apartment building that had been demolished. Still, I think those things somehow belong together. :)
Alkaline is in my top 5 fav bands of all time.
Top 1 for me😜🤘
SAME
Anytime I hear anyone talk about trio, mu330 and blue meanies I lose it dude this video is a dream
I’ve seen alkaline trio the past two nights and they’re still incredible

Stumbled on these guys as the first opener for a band at the Troc in Philly. They blew away all the other bands and made me a fan since.
Loving that intro. Got to love Skiba and the boys

Finally a TPH video about my favorite band ever
I'm friends with Ajita, he loves this band, I play Alkaline Trio covers with him sometimes in Hawaii
LOVE the new intro!
You make my favorite music docs on TH-cam man.
Raw City Music is pretty awesome too.
@@TERMINATOR101-b8j nice, I’ll check them out.

Been waiting patiently for this video!!
Unrelated, super awesome to meet you Jack! Your a real proper chap!! Thanks for the shirt! (Anyways….!)

Haven’t watched all of this yet but had to comment straight away……Alkaline Trio fucking rule 🖤
Alkaline trio always seemed to be that band that crossed over Emo with punk. It's why they're one of my faves

Their Good Mourning and Crimson albums are a good place to start.

I don't care for this band, but if any channel could get me interested, it's this one.
i didn't know about Dan being in SlapStick & Tuesday!!
I wonder if he n Derek ever talked about ska, or propose ska covers?
here in Chicago we call them the Alkaline Couple Two Trees.

Hometown heroes. Their shows at the Fireside Bowl on Fullerton were legendary!!
One of my top 5 favs since 2000. Other 4 being NOFX, Strung-Out, Senses Fail, and Snuff.
Cool video
are u still playing in Diesal Boy? I love that band and thought u were a great addition.
Yep!

Glen. You legend
Man that dictionary band name trick doesn't work for every band Haha they lucked out with a pretty good one though.
I get the hype people give for From Here To Infirmary, but some songs such as Private Eye have a weird snare sound which sounds like there's a cowbell or something like that buried somewhere in there, which bothers me. Anybody know anything about this?
If memory serves me correctly Atom Willard filled in between Mike and Derek. I believe he is in the private eye video.

Top 3
i prefer 88 Fingers Louie
I never liked them. Too emo for my tastes.
Alkaline trio had so much Potential their first few years then just slowly got more and more mediocre
Have you heard their latest album? It’s a banger
Spotify does everything in their power to keep the artists from being paid. TH-cam music might be slightly better. They're all trash though 😩
I never listen to this band and can't name one song because I always thought their name was stupid
😂
Is it because you love Blink 182?
I stopped listening to them after Glenn left the band. Funny how we're just gonna glaze right over why he left 😂
Why did he leave?
