What I love about Henry Cavill is, even though he's stunningly handsome and fit, he's still humble and actually quite awkward at times. It's very endearing to watch someone that everyone would expect outwardly to have this incredible confidence still be kind of shy and nerdy. You can just see the wheels turning in his head and his inner monologue saying "okay, don't say something weird". Of all of the people on the planet, Henry is probably one of the most well-equipped to be cocky, but he isn't. Deep down I think he feels that he's still got a lot of those elements of when he was a kid in school where he wasn't considered cool. I can't imagine what it must be like to be sexualized and objectified so much when you already feel a bit disconnected from the "norm". He really seems like a genuine, down-to-earth, mega-nerd who just so happens to also be crafted by the Gods. I bet he'd be a really cool dude to geek out with. I'm so curious about his taste in music because I imagine, for whatever reason, it's really cool and diverse. Anyways, apparently that's my love note to Henry Cavill that I didn't set out to write but somehow happened :P

He was bullied as a child at school. He was called “fat cavill”. Apparently, he has dealt with that with perfection. He talks about it and laughs on the situation but it’s clear that the whole thing had impact on his personality. All the good things you said about him, about being down-to-earth, it’s probably because, at some point in his life, people told him he wouldn’t be successful in life. Thinking about it, I’m pretty sure he has impostor syndrome. He is an easy target.
Cavill is such an insanely good fit for Superman. It's crazy. He needs to continue on in the role.
He should be James Bond as well.

I don't know why WB Execs are so dead-set on screwing Henry out of the Superman role or keep trying to downplay his future appearances. Henry IS Superman from physical stature, his polite demeanor, his full understanding of the character, his smile, everything about him feels like Clark Kent literally just walked out of the comic panels and into our world. Give the man a proper sequel goddammit. Hell, let him have his first producer credit with it because clearly, he has a larger passion for Superman than the WB Executives.
Because studios know jackshit about filmmaking and that’s just one more piece of evidence they have no business in the creative process.
It’s because Henry demands to have creative say in the direction that superman goes. Henry is a die hard believer in comic accurate storylines that are brutal and true to the character, none of this bullshit justice league type comedic relief. Henry refuses to continue on superman until WB work with him and find an even point on the story they wish to continue telling, that’s what the media is missing. We should be thanking Henry for him not just taking orders to play the character and actually making us wait to make sure we get the BEST superman possible.

WB and it's parent company at&t are already in a big mess, just look at the number of streaming services they had launched, at&t tv, direct tv, dc universe, hbo go, hbo max, hbo now. It clearly shows that they have no plan in mind, just going wherever the wind takes them. The same applies to dc extended universe, no concrete plan, unnecessary meddling of WB executives in director's work, reboots, recasts. The whole empire is a big mess and ultimately it trickles down to films itself.
Henry is a highly intellectual person, I can tell by the way he chooses wisely his words and vocabulary.
He attended a very posh school in Britain so I guess that's why he's so polite.

Seeing Henry Cavill as the Witcher, and hearing his story of being "fat Cavill" really motivated me on my own fitness and weight loss journey - I run to the Witcher soundtrack and have lost over 15lbs as of now. Thanks for opening up Henry - it helped me!

UPDATE: Thanks for all the love you guys ! I never expected this! I have continued losing weight and running to the soundtrack (so excited for season 2!). I am now down to 119 pounds, and so happy in how I feel! Thanks for all the encouragement!

I love how the interview starts off with Henry being sucah a fanboy of Patrick but the last half ends with Patrick Stewart being such a fanboy of Henry. Truly wonderful and gracious.

When Henry was talking about being uncool at school and there was a certain pain in his voice. I definitely felt that.
I think now he is good about himself, what an example for the uncools
But you can see that he is a shy guy, just see when Tom Cruise told him to do that arm thing in some interview, he was absolutely embarassed, but this make him a man more intereasting, "weakness", fears and etc approach people

Henry Cavill is what you would call a healthy introvert, he had his outlets to develop as a person even though he did not fit in the extrovert world. Good on him for making it further then most of us with hard work and what seems like good supports around him.

Henry seems like someone who is bound by his insecurities; he wants to be "Henry" but the world has other ideas for him. He wants to be liked but no necessary popular. He wants to fit into social groups but he unsure what is expected in such groups. But throughout all that, he successfully makes connections with his effortless charm and likability. The fact that he's a good looking bloke helps, but does not make him the honest and genuine guy he hopes his mum would be proud of. Well done that Buckinghamshire lad.

That would be closer to the Lex of the comic books and how he is portrayed now in the comic books.The director of Man Of Steel,Zack Snyder, even said that he envisioned Lex Luthor as being a mix between Brad Pitt and Richard Branson(and I agree with his description so I don't how one could go from summing up Lex like that and then pivoting from that and casting Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor for Batman V Superman:Dawn Of Justice).
I know that a lot of people feel like Lex has been overdone in Superman movies and while I do agree,the main reason I would want to see Lex again in a future Superman movie(but played by an actor who is right for the role and who FITS the part)is because I feel like Jesse Eisenberg was miscast as Lex.
It felt more like Eisenberg was playing a mixture of The Joker,The Riddler and Mark Zuckerberg than Lex Luhor in Batman V Superman. Perhaps have Lex be a secondary villain(like he was in Superman 2)and have Brainiac be the main villain.

This is my favorite as well. A real great conversation is going on between them. As Henry Cavill said, it’s like a look into the actors psyche. They both gave us an insight into the roles they’ve played. I felt they had enormous mutual respect and understanding for each other. Henry asked very pointed questions of Sir Patrick about his Picard role. It was like Wow! I was very impressed by him. He’s not just a pretty face.

Some have remarked that this conversation seemed "slow", but I was hanging on every word! The eloquence and skill of conversation alone made these interviews worth watching, but to see from the start how Patrick and Henry humbled themselves before each other, to make the other perfectly comfortable in each other's presence....well that was truly incredible. Not something you see often in this world. Maybe not something I've EVER seen before in pop culture. You two are legends. Thank you, Variety for putting this on, and to these two for sharing your wonderful personalities with the world. The bit about not being "cool" just killed me. Henry, you are exceedingly more cool and interesting in real life even than you are as Geralt of Rivia. I'd much rather sit down and chat with the real Henry, wonderfully charming and respectful.

One of the many reasons why I admire Henry, is his humility and animosity in treatment. So well-educated, articulate and disciplined within his craft, yet mild-mannered and at times, endearing. One of the best working actors in the industry today. Great conversationalist. Very insightful discussion on the field and art of acting.

I also love how invested Henry is in his role as Geralt. The casting for that character couldn’t have been more perfect and his enthusiasm and passion is so commendable and that fine line between watching a believable character. What a cool guy!

He was almost Bond. The only reason they chose Craig over him was due to him being too young at the time for what they were looking for in Casino Royale.

I admit I used to dislike Cavill because I just was very judgmental of his personality I thought he was kind of stuck up and full of himself but now that I’ve watched him more and actually watched interviews of him and I gotta admit I’m actually kind of in love. Seriously WB should just hire Henry Cavill to WRITE and star in the next Superman movie. If you see him in BTS clips of MOS or BVS you can see he clearly has a better grasp on the idea and purpose of Superman than anyone at WB or DC films.

Judging by the part of his arc that we saw Snyder and Terrio also understand the purpose of Superman. He's the beacon of hope. And that's exactly what he does. Bring hope to a broken corrupt world and leading to its rebirth through the formation of Justice League

Wow! So struck by Henry Cavill's humble attitude in this conversation. I love the sincerity and mutual respect of these two fine actors as they compare notes. So refreshing.
I love how fascinated, interested, and intrigued, Sir Patrick seems, despite the years of experience he has had. Really shows you why he is still relevant and going strong, and he clearly really loves it.
They like talking to each other, they prepared and they care. That alone makes it great. That these two are two great actors from different generations just fully adds to it.
The manners do maketh the man. Such humility. What a breath of fresh air gracing our screens.

Man of Steel was such a great film. I never understood the hate for it. Everyone's performance was on point. Especially Cavill as Supes, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Antje Traue as Faora.
Finally getting to hear Henry speak passionately about his career. In most interviews he's being bombarded by annoying and unprofessional women. He is a very intelligent and well spoken man.

I will never forget when I saw him walking around in London in 2017 and a group of fans had surrounded him. He kindly provided autographs and photos...but I felt so bad when one woman, an obnoxious one, had asked him how "big" he was "down there". His face went from joyful and kind to flooding red with humiliation.

Every now and then you come across something that impacts you for a whole range of reasons...
This is such a thing. And upon reflection I believe that not only it is because I adore Sir Patrick Stewart, and have a man-crush on Henry Cavill, but because their characters of Jean-Luc Picard and Superman respectively have has such an impact in my life and how their integrity has been a guiding light for me (having no male role-model figure in real life to aspire to)..
So when I see this hour long video of the two talking about acting, the roles, Jean-Luc Picard and Superman, its almost a completely perfect video for me personally.

I love how Patrick kept asking "does that make sense?" , to make sure that Henry and him were on the same page . It shows how genuine of a person he is ❤️
I keep coming back to this interview. Patrick Stewart is an absolute legend, and Henry is following those steps. I love their discussion about theatre education. I teach acting, and listening to these two amazing actors discuss school programs is fantastic and heartwarming. Both are class-act gentlemen. Here is to you, Sir Stewart and Mr. Cavill.
Sir Steward, for me you will always be the epitome of elegance and diplomacy and the true captain of the Enterprise.
Mr Cavill, when I saw Superman at age 8 with Christopher Reeve, I knew he was the embodiment of the great hero. Since then no one felt as true as he did performing as Superman, until now. I'm very grateful the (movie)world has finally found you, who has the character and presence of this timeless hero.
I hope there will be many more Superman movies with you in them, as I hope there will be many more seasons of Picard! Cheers!

Every time I am more and more impressed by Cavill, being so subtle and authentic. I understand that he started getting popular with action films, but I can see in his words every time that he wants to go beyond. He is getting more and more into drama and deep characterization. He understands his transformation as an actor and accepts the time as an experience. I find that very refreshing in times like this when we are pushed faster and faster to success.

Henry est un bien meilleur interviewer que la plupart des journalistes qui l'interroge habituellement. Le format retenu pour cette vidéo acteur/acteur en face à face est très attractif car on sent que ces deux acteurs ont un vrai et sincère dialogue et qu'ils parlent de ce qui les préoccupent vraiment dans leur métier (au lieu de répondre aux questions parfois tellement stupides des journalistes). Il est intéressant d'apprendre qu'Henry semble très intéressé par l'aspect production et réalisation du métier. Ils ont une réelle écoute l'un par rapport à l'autre. Il est très intéressant également de voir comment ils travaillent leurs personnages avec beaucoup de sérieux et d'intelligence. L'un des traits de caractère marquant chez Henry est qu'il semble chercher à être toujours le plus authentique possible (faire ses propres cascades, se rapprocher des livres...).
Henry aime apprendre des autres (Tom Cruise par exemple) et cherche toujours à progresser tant extérieurement qu'intérieurement. Il a un caractère vraiment très sérieux et est très conscient de l'impact de son image publique. Je ne connaissais pas Patrick Stewart mais je l'ai trouvé formidable également. Bravo pour cette vidéo de très grande qualité. 👍

How have I not seen this before!? My two favorite actors in conversation with each other. Both are intelligent, handsome, seemingly genuine individuals. I imagine those close to them are blessed by them simply being themselves. I hope Henry's career leaves the same kind of legacy Patrick's has. 💜

One of the things I love about Henry Cavill is that he is just such a down to earth guy who comes across as so incredibly humble! I can really relate to him as I too was a personality that wasn't cool, (massive nerd) and I also went to boarding school and struggled through life to make friends because of the opinion people had of me due to that. In boarding school, I was judged because I wasn't the richest kid and my parents didn't have super flash cars. It was definitely a good learning experience and I am incredibly grateful for what I've had and I'm always myself. I like that he's not afraid to be himself too. I loved acting as a kid but didn't pursue it any farther and its something I've always regretted.
Sir Patrick Stewart is a truly remarkable human being.
And thats why Cavill is best pick for Superman - polite, respectful, well-spoken, calm, confident.
Henry was so optimistic about Geralt and Superman, it's a trip watching this in 2023.

"We were a group" That just makes me want to cry. I wish more work places were like that. I have worked at a number of places and that has never really been the feeling. Everyone is just trying to climb the corporate ladder or make ends meet. And the idea of finding your place and your group of people is so touching. I had that for a while on io9 until they changed it some years ago.
