- Desovo, North Macedonia. A town in the south of North Macedonia near Prilep where almost everyone speaks 3 languages: Macedonian, Albanian and Bosnian/Serbian. The reasons why involve geopolitics ranging from the Ottoman era of the 1500s right up through the Turkish-Yugoslav relations of the 1950s.

Interesting video. Bosnian and Serbian are pretty much the same language, and Macedonian is very similar. Albanian is a completely different language with no relations to Slavic languages. So, pretty much they can speak two languages Bosnian/Serbian/Macedonian and Albanian, but not 4.
The albanian language has its own branch among the Indo-European languages !😊

are you crazy? Macedonian is a separate language, just because its related doesn't make it the same language!!!
Only in Serbia, if you want you can talk three or four different dialects, "not understandable" to each other. Nevertheless it is the same language. In Croatia too, especially in Croatia. North Macedonia isn't different. It is the same language. In that manor I can speak, write and talk in seven different languages meanwhile never been in any other country then my own. Your historic intro is spot on, and even a lot of people in Desovo do not know why they ended up there when they are natively from Sandzak. How did you hear of Desovo?
None of the Bosniaks or Macedonians speak Albanian though. But as you experienced, the Albanians speak all three languages. The Bosnian that they speak is with a Sandzak accent which you already mentioned but they also mix some Macedonian words, especially the young people. The Sandzak culture is very strong there and when people get married you will see the Sandzak flag all over. People often say that if you want to experience the real Sandzak you have to come to Macedonia.

If the Muslim Albanians are now 33% of Macedonia, Orthodox Albanians were forced to identify as Macedonians. Prior to Albanians being exiled to a Turkey, they were at least 2/3… and prior to the Balkan Wars which killed a lot of Albanians, it was upward of 80%…

Штом ќе живеете во Македонија, морате да ја почитувате Македонија, затоа што таа ве гледа како син од другс мајка (бидејќи македонскиот народ е синот на Македонија). Сѐ најубаво, брат. 🇲🇰✌🏻
In some places you have Turkish, albanian and macedonian spoken bu some people and even some of them speak gipsy.
Bosnian is similar to macedonian.
My parents who spoke Turkish and learned macedonian locally they spoke serbian later as adults without study or anything. They could understand serbian better than many macedonians.
Nice video 🇦🇱❤️🇺🇸

It's difficult to believe that there's a place like this in a European country. You always imagine these countries to have a long history, interesting architecture, and stable national roots. But here, it's completely different.
Are you aware that the name Macedonia has been mentioned multiple times in the bible? Do you know how many times our architecture has been ruined by wars and earthquakes. It was mostly conquered by other nations and that's why there are no stable national roots. Regardless everything, we are macedonians and we love our country.

the Albanians are the real natives if you look back in history slavs arrivedin the 7th ceuntry albanians were illyrian thracian tribes you also had greeks and aromanians as for turks slavs tey arrived later on. at least this is what i learn in history in italy
the first name that comes to mind? philip the great!
Why was that dude carrying Windex with him all the way up the hill? Too funny. Also I understand the self-deprecating humor, and how it helps put people at ease sometimes, but we do study languages in the USA, unless you're really poor and attending a terrible public school. By the time I graduated high school, I had 4 years of German (grades 9-12), 6 years of Spanish (grades 4-9), and even a year of Latin.. so, not all of us are complete morons in the US
Thanks for your comment! I also thought the windex was hilarious. My point wasn’t that we don’t study other languages, but that we don’t learn them very well. I took Italian for 6 years between high school and college and I couldn’t speak it at all. Most of my friends took Spanish for 4 years and today they can’t even form a sentence, etc. meanwhile, everyone in this town is fluent in 3 languages

Slavs migrated in Makedonia too ,
You know how it is going with migrations all over .
Migrants are migrants , but Macedonian didn't disappear at all .
You are frustrated that Greeks didnt make migration to Europe .
You are alone Greek Mpavro Guptian .
Nobody is speaking Greek in Europe .
Alexander's language was some kind of Macedonian , of course with Helenic influence that was spread from Mesopotamia to Danube !
