So long old friend, we were from the same generation, ok,..you were only 8 years older than me, but I felt a kindred spirit. I was into your music in the early 80s, bought your albums, had your cassettes in my car. Your music was always playing at my house. I got a lot of pleasure and relaxation from your tunes. I was glad I got to see you perform live in the mid 80s and early 90s, when you were in Columbus, Ohio. Thanks for all the good times and music. Rest easy, old friend. Sincerely,...a fan.
This particular video is even more poignant since we now all know what he was going through at the time. He pushed through this performance even though, as a lifelong DS fan, I could tell something was not right. He was always my sax-hero and, as a sax player myself, I tried for many years to find a way to get that "Sanborn Tone" on his song Benny, my favorite. Of course, I couldn't. His music will never die. Thanks David! Eternally.
He seems to have a jolly god time, why not let it be about how he wants it and not how we want it. Most of the musiciens are all legends - i beleive they have a Great time and enjoy listning to what the other blow has to offer. Imho
Dude... he is 77 years old! He isn't the same guy from the upfront album. At this point in his career he is touring the world doing what most of us dream about. Playing what you want and people listening. We are lucky he's lived this long, he could of died of polio and we never get to hear his music. Most great players die unexpectedly. Wayne Shorter is still with us, he is not the same guy from weather report years, but he's still playing. Rollins retired, he just can't do it anymore. At least Dave can! Enjoy it while you can!
So they kept Ray Charles from Performing this song in Georgia and Years later we have Marjorie Taylor Green as a Congresswoman funny how the USA has not changed a Damn bit Proof this is not and NEVER was the greatest nation on EARTH Love David Sanborn surprised they didn't ask him for his freedom Papers
RIP Mr. Sanborn. You made a difference in my life and helped me get through some difficult and lonely times. San Diego Ca.

Very very very sad. They say prostate cancer is so curable but look at these deaths.
