Damn fine work gentlemen. Thanks for taking it "frame by frame" and avoiding "death by drowning" and finishing this. Just the astral travel alone required for this must have been exhausting. Definitely an achievement!
Yes! A collaborative video performance would be wonderful. It'd be interesting to see Trey revisit some KC material, maybe even something that wasn't played from 94-03!
Holy moly, this is beyond exciting!!! I've been struggling with trying to transcribe several King Crimson compositions recently in view to making piano arrangements of them for the near future, but now I'm going to save whatever brain cells I have left and wait until I can afford to purchase this wonder. Thank you so much for your part in bringing this to us! 💗
I'm in no way skilled enough to be able to properly understand the transcriptions, but still I know how huge this is. Congrats for being part of this, and to the whole team for being able to put this book together.
I pre-ordered the transcripts on Bandcamp Friday this month; I am so hype to acquire it for pieces like Frame by Frame, Sartori, and Larks' III's jam section (I really prefer that section live over the studio version). Garone, Gunn, Pascarella, Riccio, and Tate; I am glad you all took the time to work together in putting Belew, Bruford, Fripp, and Levin's parts onto sheet music that I'm going to love to learn for as long as I live. I didn't really mind paying 50 bucks; it's all gonna be worth it. I thank you all for the passion that everyone has to create wondrous content. I do wonder what background music was used as you talked about the Discipline Era Transcriptions... It's very beautiful.
Proofreading it was heavy enough. Gabriel has an awe inspiring ear. When he transcribed the Trey Gunn transcription book he had to “crack the software” to allow him to score as he wanted and that was with professional grade software.
I've already ordered mine. Can't wait. I'll probably jump into learning Discipline first. I encourage you guys to keep up the great work. I'd love to see a Lark's Tongues era transcription book consisting of LTIA, Starless and Bible Black, and Red. I've always wanted to learn Book of Saturdays.
I love the way they played these songs during the Thrak era. The collectors club 5 & 6 live on Broadway performances are probably the best I’ve ever heard. There are so many great live recordings that it’s tough to pick a favorite. The Bboom live album is up there on my list too.
I have owned this book for a year and it is amazing. It will take me the rest of my life if I live to 100 to play any of these songs and perform them properly. Beautifully clear notation & tab while the performance notes imbedded in each score fill in the gaps especially when it comes to the Belew parts. I've always thought the music itself was miraculous and seeing it in a score form has only deepened my appreciation of the four creative geniuses that formed the band. Equally miraculous would be the energy put into transcribing all three albums worth. The final product is excellent! (I have one question about Frame by Frame. The fingering for Fripp's rapid free-picking appears to reflect a later solution rather than what he did in the 80's. The footage from The Old Grey Whistle performance and the Live in Tokyo -Neal and Jack and Me- video looks different than what's in the book. I'd love to read some conversation on this.) Thank you for the incredible gift to us aspiring Crimson-ish guitarists!
Fantastic! So glad you're enjoying it and getting a lot out of it, Robbie. And yes, you're right about frame by frame. That is my error and I take 100% blame and I feel terrible about it. We corrected it in the 2nd edition.
@@7directions I don't have any hair left on my head to pull out Trey, nor would I think I'm capable of doing the work justice! I will make attempts while trying (failing) to keep up at 1/2 the bpm!
I ordered a copy in October of 2021, and so far it has been delayed twice. There’s no transparency in regards to what’s holding up the order. It would be great know what’s going on.
I had heard about this earlier! Definitely will be picking it up (though it might have to wait considering I'm a mere European and can't really afford to spend 50$ on shipping lol). Does it contain any further guidance on the fingering/picking technique? Or is it 'simply' (sorry for phrasing it that way) the sheet music/tabs?
Maybe not as much as you're hoping for. Robert is publishing a Guitar Craft book very soon and I'll be publishing my book on Fracture. My book is extremely detailed. I don't know what Robert's book is like.
@@MakeWeirdMusic I guess I'll be buying a lot of King Crimson related books in the coming months! I hadn't heard of Fripps book yet, that sounds fantastic to be honest. Only being 20, I never got to attend any Guitar Craft related things. God knows I would've loved to! Super excited for your book, Fripps book and the transcriptions. Also thanks for replying to practically every comment! Keep up the good good work :)
I don’t play an instrument but I’m drawing an animation for ‘Matta Kudasai’ and I need to ‘understand’ the notes for the rain sequence in order to draw it.
@@MakeWeirdMusic this video has some clips of you on a webcam talking about the songs (I think from during proofreading?) - just curious if they're available because they seem cool
@@MakeWeirdMusic I thought you d transcribed some more. I ll need to check this out again if you ve posted it on your site. (The first UK would need some serious transcribing TLC too...)
Yes. Brutal. If all the european orderers chipped in, we could just fly over there with a big box and get it distributed or something. I'm willing to be that sacrificial victim. hahaha
Well, isn't this just fantastic news. I hold all of these records so near and dear to my heart. It'll be great to SEE Neurotica.
Yes! It's really awesome
i'm with you on this, I LOVE Neurotica, but how you "write down" street noises , police siren etc ?
I’ve always been drawn to Frame By Frame and Thela Hun Gingeet, but love all of this material!!!!
You'll love the book
Damn fine work gentlemen. Thanks for taking it "frame by frame" and avoiding "death by drowning" and finishing this. Just the astral travel alone required for this must have been exhausting. Definitely an achievement!
It is a musical artifact. A work of art.
Can’t wait to get into Adrian Belew’s solos transcriptions from this era!❤️
Amazing work, congrats!!!
Yeah, man! You still owe me a video ;)
@@MakeWeirdMusic Yes!! ;)
WHAAAAAT!!!!!???? Dude. SICK! Discipline is one of my favorite albums EVER. Oh and by the way, Dale Turner says what's up!

Just got my copy! Looks like some mighty fine reading. Thanks to all involved for putting this impressive effort together.
You’re welcome.
this is amazing! I've been a KC fan for decades and songs like Discipline continue to awe & inspire.

Background song is something I wrote many years ago called Binge. th-cam.com/video/yIRDk_GOROk/w-d-xo.html
At $50 +S/H, the care and detail that went into this book is a bargain. You’re going to love it!
I'm just imagining the timing nightmare that is those 3 albums and what transcribing it would be like.

Lucky you - that book's up next! And thanks for the order!
Wow! Definitely getting this book!

Was it a consideration to tab Fripp's part for NST? (I know they weren't performed that way on the records)

What is the time signature at the start of LTIA pt 3?
Believe it or not, the whole thing is 4/4.
What is the background music (from about 1'40'')?
It’s a song I recorded called Binge. It’s on TH-cam somewhere.

As far as I know, print-only since digital is too easy to pirate.
