      @Madison Faeolin I'm not Dr. Greger, but I use to get uti's quite often. What worked for me was drinking real cranberrie juice (sugar free), drinking dairy free acidophilus, eating tons of fruits/veggies high in vitamin c, and of course drinking lots of water. Hope that helps.

    "More pigs than people in Iowa". I can relate. There are 12,1 pigs in Denmark at all times and only 5,5 million people. 31 million pigs "produced" in DK are killed each year either here or after being transported in long hauls to other European countries. I'm a vegan in freakin' Pigmark. And what's worse; we never see them, apart from when catching a glimpse of them in big semi-open trucks on the way to the slaughterhouse. For the entire duration of their lives they are hidden in away in huge production facilities living in sad conditions. And the general Danish population of course belives that the pigs live fairly happy lives. Oh, and btw; the slaugterhouse trucks are adorned with a fun image of a smiling, dancing pig. - Which I think pretty much says it all about the moral level of the animal industry.
    Thank you for yet another great video! Good luck with the Iowa project!

    • @chrisbo5288
      @chrisbo5288 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Damn you are so right about this situation, but if you are disgusted by the death and bad living conditions of the pigs, you should visit some monocultural plant based fields (the main source of our plant consumption) and take some photos of the dead wild animals there, 3 Billion every year, what do you think about them? Are they worth less than our domesticated animals? Makes veganism a little bit hypocritical don't you think? One human being could live of one grass fed cow for a whole year. That is quite impressive, don't you think while eating only plant based would kill way more wild animals. What is the better way for the environment?

    • @brentshuffler1234
      @brentshuffler1234 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@chrisbo5288 Your focus would be better placed on replacing profiteering monocultures (e.g., driven by the hegemony of Monsanto) that create unnatural seeds, destroy biodiversity, introduce genetic engineering into the food-supply, and displace large numbers of traditional farmers. Organic farming and harmony with nature does not kill animals; unnatural industrial animal farming and commercial monocultures lower nutritional values of both foods and soils, create enormous pollution of water, of air, of food, and of the general environment. Veganism has nothing to do with these unnatural monocultures. In fact, most of the corn and soy grown in the U.S.A. is not for people but for ANIMALs! So the monocultures of foods go hand in hand with meat-eating, the complete opposite of veganism.

    • @littlebear9842
      @littlebear9842 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@chrisbo5288 We have to eat plants to live. We don't have to eat animals to live. Obviously no vegan can save 100% of all animals, but we just try to do all we can. Also, we don't breed the animals in fields just to kill them. They go into those fields and then die. We can't save every animal that goes into a field. It's better to save the animals we can save rather than to just not save any.

    Oeh I did oil free popcorn last week for the first time ever and was amazed in how easy it is and how useless the oil is that we normally put on it :o
    You don't need an airpopper for it. You don't need anything special!
    Just take a pan, put a lid on it and let it all heat up on medium high heat. Then when the pan and the air in it and the lit are warm, put your popcorn in it (fast), close the lit again and then after around 15-20 secs turn the heat lower. Wait for it to pop. Shake the pan a bit in between and when the popping stops, your done :D
    (Depending on your pan and how hot you set it you maybe have to heat it a bit more after a while, but for me this works like a charm.)

    I just throw in some quinoa instead of brown rice.. some mung bean (it's my favourite bean..), veggies (cabbage, cauliflower, peas, eggplant, carrot, potato, green beans, no onion (haven't tried..), some sort of squash, pumpkin, tomato.. everything roughly chopped up ) , turmeric , black pepper,a small piece of Cinnamon and Cinnamon powder , cumin seeds and powder, garam masala(don't add too much spice.. khichdi is supposed to bland and simple..) (these things goes in lil bit of oil before you throw in the Veggies)..

    I've made two attempts at a vegetarian, mostly vegan diet. My last attempt lasted for six months. Unfortunately I lost significant muscle mass and strength which is the main reason why I switched back to eating chicken breasts and fish (though in smaller portions than I have eaten in the past). My five rep max for deadlift decreased by 30 pounds over the course of six months. I also gained a tiny bit of fat initially, but was able to stop gaining fat by just about cutting out wheat completely and eating lots of broccoli since broccoli is very filling, but did not have many calories. I ate A LOT of beans and lentils. I would eat two or three cups of brown rice or quniona with two or three cups of either beans or lentils for lunch and dinner almost every day. Breakfast would be be oatmeal with fruit and nuts. I was following the commonly recommended tips for getting enough protein on a vegan diet. I know that you don't need large quantities of protein just to survive, but I think it is more difficult to be athletic as a vegan. Most vegans are really skinny like yourself Mike. You don't look sickly or anything, but you don't look strong either. This probably sounds vain, but I do not want to be skinny and weak. That is a major turn off for veganism for me, and I imagine a lot of other people. Literally every vegan and vegetarian I've met in real life looked weak. Note: I'm not trying to hate on veganism. I think veganism is much better for the environment. I think veganism significantly decreases risk factors for heart disease, strokes, and cancer. I think veganism is much better for animals etc... I enjoy watching your videos. Right now I'm trying to minimize the amount of animal products I consume to the extent that is possible for me not to perform poorly in the gym. I'm interested in decreasing the amount of animal products I consume further. If you know of resources for plant based strength training I would be interested in seeing them. I also think that could potentially be the subject for quality videos.

    I don't get how people say vegans are "privileged" for having the "time" to make vegan food. I'm transitioning to veganism, and wow, is cooking 1000x easier. You can't get easier than oatmeal, and there are so many awesome ways to make it! You don't have to worry about raw meat, blood, and fat getting everywhere, and vegetables cook way quicker than meat. You also don't have to keep checking the vegetables to make sure the internal temperature reaches a level that won't make you sick. Most of my vegan foods are oatmeal or some quinoa/rice dish with straight up sliced veggies and fruit. My life is easier now, and I'm saving a lot of $$$.

Greens are really difficult because they come from Cairo and are mostly rotted by the time they meet market shelves. However I am growing sweet potato to try and get greens and experimenting. Lots of dates, bananas and mangoes. It's a journey, lol!

    Loved the video. Here in Portugal, lupine are quite popular as a snack. They're usually consumed in cafes during soccer games while drinking super cold beer. They're eaten salty and you're supposed to shell them. The great thing about them is they're packed with protein and have no fat. =D

    • @izabelazakrzewska9136
      @izabelazakrzewska9136 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Speaking of the Daily Dozen... maybe here I could get some explanation. English isn't my native language but, from what I understand, a dozen is 12 pieces of something, right??? Then why there's 24 tick boxes in the app??? It's never going to happen for me to tick them all 🤔😔🤔

    • @sallyjrwjrw6766
      @sallyjrwjrw6766 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@izabelazakrzewska9136 The Daily Dozen is a list of 12 different things you should strive to have everyday: beans, berries, other fruit, cruciferous vegetables, greens, other vegetables, flaxseed, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices, whole grains, beverages, B12, and exercise. However, some things you should have multiple servings. So with having multiple servings of some items then you need multiple tick boxes.
      Counting it now, it looks like a baker's dozen which is 13.

    In case someone is interested. Sweet lupines are part of the legumes family and are quite amazing. You can pretty much use them for yoghurts and ice cream the same way as soy and therefore they can be an alternative for people, who are allergic or wanna eat less soy. At least over here in Europe it has become very common.

    I did a protest at Circle Four Pig Farm last year with DxE. I cannot explain the energy there. If I could imagine a concentration camp that would be it. It's huge. It's horrible. And the sad sounds from the pigs I will never forget. All the while, surrounded by many employees and every type of law enforcement.
    We did have a lovely vigil for the pigs at the end.

      Me too. And I like to eat real food (no ingredient list needed). If I want special treats I make them myself as much as possible. Lots less packaging to deal with and less frequent temptations. And for me much tastier!! My family agrees...also I found rather uncomfortably negative reviews- many being ripped off. I think I’ll stay away. The membership fee is another turn off.

    The lupini are eaten a lot in Spain. I love them. They are called "altramuces". In Spain they only eat the inside. They take the peel off by biting one corner, to make a whole. Then they press it from the opposite side from the whole you just made. And then the inside will pop out. They put salt in them. Absolutely delicious!!!

    Not a bad unboxing. But not so good that you should be worried 😁
    The best unboxing videos are from those heart and soul vested in the consumer economy. For them, an unpackaging is almost a sensual experience, a near ecstatic reveling and indulgence in the tactile products of the free market.
    So, this unboxing being good but not THAT good is a compliment 😊

    Weird beans are very known in Portugal. They are preserved in water and salt and we eat them as a snack usually with cold beer. You should just eat the inner part and discard the outer layer just squiz them in your mouth.
