    Incredible technology.

    Composition adjustment is great for macro and a big reason why I keep my K5, never thought of the wide angle use though nice 👍 NX500 IQ is great btw still can’t believe I picked that up so cheap

      Yeah I can imagine this works well for macro too. I thought the iQ would be quality from that sensor, I've been looking at the NX500 since you got that mega deal!

      @@LeeIveson GAS is contagious, though I’m lucky here in the Philippines as photographers tend to go for the new shiny cameras those Samsung cameras can be undervalued though that was a particularly good deal

    Thanks for the video I have used most of the options. Pixel shift for a detailed picture of the moon. Astrotracer for Milky Way photography. I have not used horizon correction that moves the sensor to correct for crooked pictures. IBIS does allow for hand held lowlight photography for which I am grateful as I have done a fair amount of handheld low light photography

      It's great that this one function caters to so many styles/genres of photography. Personally I've become attached to the option of being able to stabilise any lens I chuck on my Pentax cameras! I love SR!

    Superb stuff, as usual Lee! As you know I've been shooting Pentax for a long time now and didn't know 3 of those 4!! Thanks.

      Cheers Mark! To be fair I don't use them that often, apart for SR! I love the fact we can stabilize vintage glass with the inbuilt image stabilization.

    I knew about the Pixel Shift feature, but I haven't used it much. I just got a 55-300 Pentax zoom from Facebook Marketplace yesterday, so I haven't used it much. What I now want to do with it is ride down to Huntington Beach on my bike, with a gorilla pod and shoot the oil rigs offshore with pixel shift on, just to see what I can get. I got the lens with birding in mind but I can see lots of possibilities. Thanks for this reminder 🙂

    • @LeeIveson

      No problem. That sounds like it's going to work nicely with pixel shift, sounds like a great image in the making!

    Great video. I haven't seen composition adjustment demonstrated so well before. I also didn't know my K-3 had that ability for the longest. Side note: the K-3iii doesn't have GPS but can shoot astrotracer without it. It takes a test image, calculates the trajectory of the stars, and then moves the sensor to keep them from trailing. So maybe that's a 5th function of IBIS? Kind of the same but w/o the gps. I believe it is called astrotracer type 3. I have not used it yet. Or composition adjustment. Or so many other cool features of these cameras!

    • @LeeIveson
      @LeeIveson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They ate jam packed with features! Yeah I'd seen that the K3iii had that new version of Astro, so maybe we have a 5th element to the IBIS.

    Great video, I love my Pentax K-1 and KP, so many features with easy to understand menus, with great results.
    My first digital camera was a compact Konica Minolta point and shoot camera. It fit in a pouch on my body armor while I was in iraq, so I had it with me almost all the time. I'm so glad I had that camera, but I wish I'd taken 1,000 more pictures than I did.

    • @LeeIveson
      @LeeIveson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah that's pretty awesome that you owned the Konica Minolta! I can imagine you took some emotion evoking images while out in iraq too! And yep, we can never take too many shots that's for sure! Cheer's Rob.

    Nice video, Lee, but check spelling at 1:05. Let's blame it on a pixel shift...

      Dam! I usually spell check these things but that one slipped through the net haha. Oh well, I'll go with blaming it on pixel Shift 😂

    I do think Pentax should make a mirrorless camera with the K-Mount. When I use my Olympus cameras I get stabilization with long lens in the OVF.

    • @LeeIveson
      @LeeIveson  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I also wanted them to do this. They where partnered with Samsung a few years back, I'd have loved to see what would have come of that if only they kept the ball rolling :(

    if I was not so invested into the gear I have I would get a K1 just for the night sky shooting alone. Thanks for the video brother loved it

    • @LeeIveson
      @LeeIveson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Chris. The K1 seems like the ultimate "Astro Photographers" camera to be honest. Me & Hannah (the wife) have been going to Lanzarote for our last few holidays & there's a guy out there (Steve) who has stall on the market, he's created some stunning Astro images with his K1!

    Hey! I have a question. I just got a SIGMA AF 28-70mm F2.8-4 UC ZOOM LENS FOR PENTAX PK MOUNT.
    I have a K3, I put it on and it won’t let me take a photo. It just flashes
    F- - ?
    Also, doesn’t AF stand for auto focus? This lense is not auto focus.
    Do you know what I’m doing wrong?

    • @LeeIveson
      @LeeIveson  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have a problem with the lens. Sounds like the electrical contacts are not communicating with the camera.

    Hi Lee. I watched this video this morning. Does the K-70 have the composition adjustment (3:15m in the video)? I've spent the afternoon trying to find it, and I can't. Having had the camera some years now, I wasn't aware of this feature, in fact, on any Pentax camera. If it does, can you point me in the right direction. BTW, I do real estate photography and use the same lens as in your video. Many thanks!

    • @LeeIveson
      @LeeIveson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was just thinking about this the other day Robert. I don't own the K-70 anymore so can't check that out, but off the top of my head from the research I did for this video it seems that Pentax dropped the composition adjustment feature, Lee Haze might be the guy to ask as he has had loads of K-70s. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Side note, that Sigma 10-20 is brilliant for crop sensor cameras when shooting wide indoors and out (as you will know). Thanks for stopping by.

      @@LeeIveson Thanks, Lee. I've now done some more research. You're right. It's not a feature on the K-70. Shame. Might have been fun to try out with the Sigma!

    It's tragic that Konica and Minolta have faded so much from view already.

      @LeeIveson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm discovering much of the older cameras for the first time, and your right it is sad that a lot of them have faded away, a sign of the times I suppose.
