  • This is a high quality exotic backing track in the E Phrygian dominant mode for guitar. Excellent for improvising, learning scales, chords and arpeggio's. This Q JAM TRACKS PLUS backing track provides a visual representation of the chords and scales in diagrams as they appear in the music. Extra theoretical information is also shown in the video. It is a backing track and tutorial (or lesson) at the same time. You can improvise and solo over this backing track to practice:
    - Pentatonic minor scales
    - Phrygian dominant / harmonic minor scales
    It's also a play along video for learning exiting chords.

    my teacher told me years ago this, when I eagerly asked him to learn and understand improvising; there is a big vast forest ahead... you can enter where ever you want, some places would be better suited but that does not really matter. you can stay as much as you like and get out of the forest anytime. when your journey tells the good story; then it means you are improvising.

    Great to see someone providing people with actual free tutorial and hands-on methods for learning modes/scales and improvising. So many TH-camrs these days go on and on about the "right way" to do this and that, and everything that guitar players should "never do"...etc.
    It's good and all learning the "proper ways" way to do things on guitar, but I learned how to solo and improvise using the so-called "evil" BOX scale patterns that all guitar theorists cringe about. But to be honest, leaning those little shortcuts allowed me to actually PLAY GUITAR and IMPROVISE instead of just doing exercises over and over to learn "proper methods". The more I actually played, the more I was able to expand on that knowledge and use it to play other "modes" and types of music. There's nothing wrong with it in my opinion. If you're having fun playing, and you and others enjoy what you play, all the power to you.
    I hope you don't mind I DLed some of your tracks and I'm hoping to upload some examples of playing over them. Eventually.
    Thanks again for all you do!

      Thanks and you're welcome! Indeed improvising should not consist of merely playing scales in boxes up and down the neck. A good knowlegde of the neck of the guitar set's one free of those limitations and provides musical and creative freedom. I totally agree with that. Though, to strart of with improvising, scales patterns are one way to dive into the deep waters of improvisation. Once learned you should not lean on them forever. I'm very curious to hear your improvisations on my backing tracks! :)

      @@QJamTracks of course! I will surely do that don't worry. It will be a hot night here so, I already have two riffs that fit perfectly with the track, one oriental of course (a slow progression on the E phrygian then a back down) and the second is more of hispanic one on the third phrase of the track. Obtaining a good enough recording sound is another work but I use simple tool like audacity and linked sound card to my pc.

    • @QJamTracks
      @QJamTracks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @joshuaclabeaux1470 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, everything is Arabian except for "Section 3", which IS an Andalusian cadence; that's what you are hearing. Also, yes, this scale is very common in Andalusia, thanks to the Arabs, Sephardic Jews, and Gypsies (Roma; they invented Flamenco, by the way) who live there.
