Hi, please tell me if I made a mistake in my DS form. As there was a question have you ever been refused a US visa? Nd my answer is there, yes. But I don't know the exact reason why I was previously denied an F1 visa.👈 That's it.

I am trying to fill DS 160 form . I am currently on H1-b and have been with the same employer for past 7 years . I have put all the details of my present employer in the present employer section. Then for the previous employer it asks the information for all the previous employers in the last 5 years. I do have previous employers but they were 7 years back.

I am confused on two question. Who will be paying for my US trip? I have a funded PhD position as I was awarded a TA contract from the University. But neither in my bank nor of my parents are enough funds to support my trip i.e. VISA/SEVIS/Ticket charges. There is a charitable trust which will be taking help from various sources to get me travel grant. So, I am uncertain whether I should makr other or self? I have read somewhere that if one mentions other, then they should be ready for extra questions in the interview or with some document proof. What could be they, please suggest! And if I mention self, my bank statement should have that much amount maintained last six months, right?
Second question, what should I mention in my Present occupation? My PhD start date is sept 7, and TA start date is Aug, 29 but currently I am enrolled in a distance learning diploma program which will finish by April 2023. So, should I mention student? And in duties space, can I mention that ' I have to go through the study material provided and submit assignments online'?

Hi! Thanks for sharing the tips! I need help filing DS 160 for B2 visa. I have a name change case. New passport has both surname and given name. However old passport only has given name and surname is empty. In this case, how to answer the question 'Other Surname Used'?
For example in old passport, Given Name: Shalini Lal, Surname: Empty.
New Passport - Given Name: Shalini, Surname: Sharma.
Instructions for 'Other Surname Used' section on DS 160 is "If you only have other surnames to enter, enter the same given names as above. Conversely, if you only have other given names to enter, enter the same surname as above."

Then i changed my name in passport and got new passport with ( Changed my First name & Father’s Name ) J**kumar R*****chandra Va****** ,, now in DS 160 they are asking Have you ever used other names ?? What should i do ?? If i click yes i am getting two mandatory boxes 1. Other Surnames used 2. Other given names used
