@@royvincent9250 I’ve been there too!! I told my wife I was coming home after doing some night fishing. As I was packing drag starts screaming on my big rod and reel setup. Had a 7 foot 152 pound alligator gar on the end of it! That was about a hour fight then went home lol.
Ok guys....no lie, just yesterday was chatting with a friend on facebook about fishing off that bridge. Talking about catching white trout...cleaning and cooking them right there. Hushpuppies and french fries with the trout just caught! Oh man some fine eating! Back then drove out on the bridge from the beach side and the kids loved it. Try a little white trout catch and cook!
I kayaked under bob sikes recently and there are definitely some GIANT spades under there! Very underrated fish. super clean white meat and good eating!
So me and my buddy Daniel from work have been going out there every Friday for the past 4-5 weeks and have caught monster reds and specs and a bunch of other species including a a 20-25lb red snapper. We needed something new since Hurricane Sally took out the dock lights we used to fish.
Under the sunshine skyway about a year or two after it was hit I had the greatest fishing trip with spade fish . Love the video. Dad got frustrated like Brant and got those big ones with his cast net
Won't be able to watch until after work, but had to get it started on the lunch break! Glad to see the content just rolling on and on man. Love every upload.
Great video once again. When I was a kid, that restaurant was called boy on a dolphin. But the beach side of the bob sikes bridge has always been pretty good. Especially if you’re throwing a net for mullet. That would be a good catch and cook... mullet and cheese grits with hush puppies.
Ooo the hook pull on the big 'un made me wince. Def gonna fry up some spades soon. I know exactly where they are...caught 'em and never tried 'em. Thanks!
I live in fort Worth Texas.I was at Walmart, seen the cheese puffs started laughing too. My wife couldn't figure out what I was laughing at. Thanks guys
I lived in New Orleans for awhile and quickly learned that they love heat in their food, no matter what it is. Celery helps cut the heat a little. Water does not nor milk. Try celery, bite a stalk of that... have you ever tried SWEET BABY RAYS BBQ SAUCE ???
I bet they have stolen your bait. They're harder than sheepshead to hook, pretty tricky. Tiny hooks help. But I never ate one. And I haven't caught more than a couple. Mostly I've seen them spearfishing but I didn't think they were worth shooting.
I saw that yankee rig with the road fish and I was really disappointed in you until I saw what happened. The wire, beads and big hook remind me of catching snook in front of tourists who were jealous because they caught hard heads and skates, lol. Good times. I never thought about eating spade fish. Now I'm curious.
Cool stuff. Back in my old off shore days I never missed an opportunity to put a few in the cooler if the rig we were fishing on had some on it. You're right though, very overlooked fish.
Funny, I watched Ron put the whoopin' on Brant in a Kentucky pond, bass fishin'. And then he pulled out the epic prank, lol. Brant grew up there, he was also a guide. Ron is new to everything there. And he still catches some fish.
watch Ron's channel, he catches plenty of fish, those guys are my heroes, they are married and make a loving fish, the video stuff isn't easy, has to take a long time editing
A fun video fer sure . You mix up the fun when yer fishing / cooking what ever . Love it . Allways a good time when you are out fishing . The ride to and from the trip is a blast also . Thanks guys . Tom Daytona Beach, FL. 5, September 2021 .
If you boys ever need any help in the kitchen let me know! I live here in Pensacola and work at a restaurant downtown. I would love to throw some dishes together for you guys!! ✊
I don't blame him Publix fried Chicken is awesome if I ever move from Florida I'm going to be moving to North Carolina cuz that's the only place that there is a Publix
ive caught two of my onshore PB's there bull red and shovelhead shark and yes Ron publix chicken is good when its fresh and the rotisserie is pretty spot on to
Nice video! When I was there last month I used a sabiki rig and I was catch spadefish and gafftopsail cats like crazy.i made them fish tacos and they were BOMB!
Brant, I agree with you a 100% about flavor over heat when it comes to hot sauce. So I found some that fits the bill. Bulliard's Louisiana Hot Sauce. I found it at Grocery Outlet in Pace. I think you will like it!
You should do a cheese ball challenge. See how many fish you can catch on cheese balls. That would be a video. Fantastic content. Ive fished that bridge when I was a kid. Keep on keeping on!!!!
I wasted almost a lb of shrimp on those spade fish at my local pier then I switched to Sabiki. I would catch 2-3 small ones and have a decent keeper. It's an awesome fight when you have a couple of those on a lighter setup.
Loving that y'all just roll with it these days and do whatever... Always looking forward to both videos from both channels! Cheers! "That was a raw ghost pepper!" Hahahaha... Not me!!!
I love(d) fishing that bridge at night [west side, under the new bridge]. Biggest spec trout I ever caught was there, probably 40", I swear. Egg sinker, swivel, 7'-10' long10lb test leader, small live bait hook, live shrimp hooked under the horn. Run weight to the bottom, then crank up a foot or two. Bet I caught a 100 specs there 18"+. Thought that restaurant blew away........
Two years ago I tried everyday for week to fish there! I got hung up with other fisherman six out of seven cast, I was in the water first ever time they crossed me, just decided to go back to hotel lol.. Way to many people . Would love to try again.
I wish you would have posted this video last week, then I would known what a spade fish was when Silas caught it snapper fishing in our upcoming video!
Most people here in Virginia Beach use clams for spade fish. I actually have the best luck with squid. I don’t think I have tried shrimp but I will now!
If you like Publix fried chicken, which is OK it’s not bad but you have to try. Albertsons are used to drive 20 miles out of the way to get their chicken and you’re right Fish are good eating if you get one big enough.
Is the pier the old bridge from the Pensacola side. I used to fish the old bridge 59 years ago when I lived in GulfBreeze as a sixteen year old teenager.
Curious to see how the SpadeFish tastes. They are a huge, fast growing Aquarium fish, destroy everything in their path while they are growing. We would always laugh about them being the only fish in a giant aquarium. Oscars are the same in a freshwater tank. Glad they are such a great tasting Fish. Would be fun to catch.
Me and my brothers used to go fish the bridge in Pensacola every fall and caught tons of fish,,,back when you could drive out on it. Not user if that was the same one> I sure miss that. last time I was on it driving was the day of 9/11. Never caught spade fish there but we have filled cooler fulls of spanish, white trout and reds. I really want to take my kayak out there under it now.
Why didn't y'all get this man some chicken on the way to the bridge!?? 😂🤣 He's serious about his chicken 🐔. Needed Beach Bum to get the big Spades hahaha
“No joke guys, I am hungry, I haven’t had anything for 3 hours”! I love that man! I am glad you brought this man on your show!!!
One of the hardest things to do in life is making that "last cast." That's why Brant can't stop. I'm on Brant's side with this one. Ron can eat later!
100 percent with ya on this!
“Don’t get a fat boys hopes up for some fried chicken”…amen sir Ron! Words to live by!
A mans last cast is like a woman saying she’ll be ready in fives minutes. It’s just don’t happen the way you want 🤣
been there 6 hrs fishing without a good fish tell wife yeah having crap luck fixing to roll it up and bam hook a huge one now you gotta stay
@@royvincent9250 I’ve been there too!! I told my wife I was coming home after doing some night fishing. As I was packing drag starts screaming on my big rod and reel setup. Had a 7 foot 152 pound alligator gar on the end of it! That was about a hour fight then went home lol.
Yup. My “last cast” usually lasts about 45 minutes, lol
I can’t even walk past a barrel of cheese balls in Publix anymore without laughing.
Right!?!? Same !!! I laugh every time anyone even says something about cheese balls or I see them lol 😂
Ron had the last name right. Glad you guys enjoyed it! ✌️
Where can I get some of that sauce pls lmk asap tytyty

Try a little white trout catch and cook!
I like how far Ron has come out of his shell. From the awkward quiet days to the trash talking fishing buddy!
I kayaked under bob sikes recently and there are definitely some GIANT spades under there! Very underrated fish. super clean white meat and good eating!
Ps. I tried to fish them the same way you were, hiding the hook with skinned shrimp but they just weren't eating that day.
Thanks for the invite! 😥😥 Those spades are everywhere on that bridge right now it’s crazy! Good stuff man!
Like always like the extra content . Need new shirt logo " Juan more cast "
Brandt sounds like Matthew Mcconaughey and beach bum looks like a knock off Mark Wahlberg. Great video brother. Keep on keeping on.
So me and my buddy Daniel from work have been going out there every Friday for the past 4-5 weeks and have caught monster reds and specs and a bunch of other species including a a 20-25lb red snapper. We needed something new since Hurricane Sally took out the dock lights we used to fish.
Great video, thanks for the tip. I arrive at Perdido Saturday, and I am certainly going to check out the bridge.
Under the sunshine skyway about a year or two after it was hit I had the greatest fishing trip with spade fish . Love the video. Dad got frustrated like Brant and got those big ones with his cast net
Early again to watch the best fishing TH-camrs on the whole platform
Won't be able to watch until after work, but had to get it started on the lunch break! Glad to see the content just rolling on and on man. Love every upload.
"You ain't gonna like me when I'm hangry Brant" LOL I'm a big boy to cameraman Ron I know how you feel...
Not only one of my favorite spots but that's my go to area there on the pier. I can't believe we have yet to bump into each other around here.
Laughing my ass off at that over the shoulder toss release on that second fish 😆 🤣 😂 I'm dying here.
OMG! 🤣🤣 Brant is like me when I want to stay and continue fishing but someone in the group needs to leave because of food. 🤣
Great video once again. When I was a kid, that restaurant was called boy on a dolphin. But the beach side of the bob sikes bridge has always been pretty good. Especially if you’re throwing a net for mullet.

Fisherman's biggest lie. "Last cast" lol
OMG sooo truuuee

Y’all for sure have the best TH-cam fishing channel
I lived in New Orleans for awhile and quickly learned that they love heat in their food, no matter what it is. Celery helps cut the heat a little. Water does not nor milk. Try celery, bite a stalk of that... have you ever tried SWEET BABY RAYS BBQ SAUCE ???
Used to catch nice White Trout off that bridge when I was stationed there... Miss it ... Pensacola back on the bucket list of fishing holes.
I see spades nearshore here a lot. Never was able to get em to bite. Sick video dude !
I bet they have stolen your bait. They're harder than sheepshead to hook, pretty tricky. Tiny hooks help. But I never ate one. And I haven't caught more than a couple. Mostly I've seen them spearfishing but I didn't think they were worth shooting.
@@comfortablynumb9342 for sure I've hooked a lot of sheep. I couldn't even get them to bite!

Bob Sykes bridge one of my favorite places to fish. last time i was there i caught a 30 pound black drum
Another great video guys! I love how you change things up! Headed to Anna Maria island this Saturday, I plan on some doing some fishing.
You fellas remind me of me as a boy in Florida. Back when there was no time... Keep up the good work.
The fishing is great. I really enjoy the fishing. But the banter between these two is top notch.
Brants definition of “LAST CAST” : “Dude, we’re out of bait!”
U should do a creek/ spillway catch and cook. Just cook what ever u catch.
Ron I am with you but Brant I also have a problem leaving when they are biting!!! Love y’all’s videos. Hope to see you on the coast fishing soon.👍
Love Sarah's hair, but today's straightened out look is super cool! Yeah, the fishing was fun too. I think spade fish are delicious.
We used to have Spade fish tournaments back in the 70's, the only rule we had was you had to use a Zebco 202 reel.
I can hear that 202 drag squealing
It’s comical to watch Brandt catch something every minute, while CM Ron couldn’t catch a fish at RedLobster
Funny, I watched Ron put the whoopin' on Brant in a Kentucky pond, bass fishin'. And then he pulled out the epic prank, lol.
Brant grew up there, he was also a guide. Ron is new to everything there. And he still catches some fish.
I'm not entirely sure Red Lobster even has actual fish, haha
watch Ron's channel, he catches plenty of fish, those guys are my heroes, they are married and make a loving fish, the video stuff isn't easy, has to take a long time editing
Could never have a fishing partner like that lol when we fish we grinddddd lol

Good video brant and Ron. Nice to see Ron's family out. To bad about the chicken. Good to know what kind of fish is good eating. Thanks for the info.
I caught some about 30 years ago . I'll never forget how hard they fight . Spadefish great action big like on fishing .
I knew it was a spade fish. They are good eating , they have greyish meat but don’t let that scare you . They are delicious.
When i dive we see so many of those. They are so bright underwater.
Haven’t tried spades yet but they’re beautiful and only caught small ones in a cast net but Galveston TX has some 12-14inchers

When we were kids we would get them in the open top crab traps down at the pier in safety harbor we would eat the big ones they taste great.

Agreed

Dang it I was just waiting for you to put some of that hot sauce on some Ron’s cheeseballs and mix them up in the can funny stuff thanks my brother
I've caught spade fish before , never tried it. So looking forward to trying it . Be Safe Brother.
when it comes to hot sauce, sweet tea takes the sting out... the sugar neutralizes the heat better than milk
I love loved love you guys fishing together. You keep me laughing. Cameraman Ron is just a natural 🤣😂
The coconut water with the pulp is awesome!!!

We tried there after nothing on the beach the 3rd piling on the opposite of where y’all were catching the spades had sheepshead on them real close.
I love the beach fishing of the bridge at pensacola Beach I caught some mulet last night
Spade fish are good. The first time we caught some a local told us they were. We took a cooler full home. I bet I ate 35 that night
Love catching spades and blues here in NC, the fort fisher/ Kure Beach area. My dad has a place. If you guys are every in NC.
Haha I just came from checking Melanies channel for a new video

Spade fish huh 🤔 Man I would’ve never thunk it….

I do loves me some Publix Fried Chicken! We don't even fry chicken at home. Publix gets it Done!
Brant, at least you didn't have to bait Ron's hook this time !!! 😂 😂 😂
I love seeing youtubers from my area getting paid for doing what they love

Hey Brant, what do you suggest for a all around good rod and reel setup including what type and size line?
Come to VA and will catch some dinner plate size spades
