I know Scott I love you. Before when I didn't play the tuba I played the baritone and then my band teacher asked me if I wanted to switch to tuba and I said yes and I've been playing it for a year
@@ScottSutherlandMusic totally agree that it’s all unmistakably John Williams but some of the cadential stuff towards the end sound really similar to the third movement of his concerto. BTW hi! You’re a daily inspiration and I am always looking forward to your next video. Wish you well
Thank you! I always appreciate hearing my fellow players, cause we all really know when it’s good or when it’s not up to par. So big thanks for letting me know!!
I was asked ealier at practice. "Which tuba wants to do the jabba solo next concert series?" I had no idea what is was, but you came through with the hookup lmao!
Whoah, I think I might be in love with that Eb sound. Any chance of a thorough demonstration throughout the range? (As if your range here isn't incredible) How well would you say it projects in a hall/ blends in different settings?
Are you purchasing a euphonium? If so, I’d suggest getting something bigger if you can afford it. I play an Eastman 526 compensating euphonium and love it! You may out grow the 321 within a couple of years
How are you liking this Eb so far? This is the kind of wonderful Eb sound that makes me want to get one. I’ve considered 3+1 for a long time, but the Eastman might be the ticket. I need to play one. Do you mind sharing your thoughts on intonation and response? What has improved since the prototype came out? Thanks. Fantastic playing, as always!
Thank you!!! This Eb is an incredible instrument. Intonation has improved since I purchased mine largely because the third valve slide was cut down, allowing B naturals to come up to pitch. This is the best Eb I have played hands down, especially in terms of sound and pitch.
Very cool, great playing as usual! :) Also, my current lesson teacher told me that I should do the 50 dollar patreon for the lesson. This is still an option, correct?
demonface INC oh yeah! I was drum major for three years, including lead drum major of the Los Angeles All-City marching band in the Rose Parade for three years. Played trombone and piano in the jazz band. Even did the Trojan Marching Band while at USC
Find a local Eastman dealer, they should be able to order it for you. If you don’t know of a dealer near you, submit your info to this form and Eastman will locate one for you: www.eastmanwinds.com/contact
Can you tell the secret of the most successful tubist? What do l need to play more attention? What exercises should be used to keep yourself in shape and reach heigts? I'd be glad if you could answer my questions, Mr. scott.
A private teacher is the best person to ask. If you are interested, I am available for lessons online through my Patreon page: patreon.com/scottsutherlandmusic
I had been looking for a great compensating euphonium, all around 4/4 CC tuba and an orchestral 6/4 CC tuba that I loved playing and were all affordable enough to recommend to students. When I found all at Eastman, back in July 2017, I became one of their artists. Yamaha has good F tubas and a great high-end euphonium, but the 822 CC tuba is not a good instrument at all, the 842 euphonium is $9,000 (if you can find one) and the 6/4 CC tuba is $40,000 (if you can find one), all of which is totally unreasonable for 99% of the musicians out there (including me). The move was an easy one.
Scott Sutherland Music How exactly do you become an artist with an instrument company? I have always been curious. Thanks! Love the Eb tuba sound. Any particular reason for going to Eb over F?
"the names Uncle Ruckus, no relation"
🤣🤣🤣
32nd notes, this is one of the hardest songs on tuba without practice.
It’s sooo much fun!!
I know Scott I love you. Before when I didn't play the tuba I played the baritone and then my band teacher asked me if I wanted to switch to tuba and I said yes and I've been playing it for a year
Yes it is
It’s really amazing how much of this sounds like some of the parts of his tuba concerto. Wonder if that was on purpose
I think it’s more indicative of his overall melodic and harmonic signatures than anything else

@@samueladam8725 thanks for reaching out Samuel, I’m so grateful for your kind words!
Amazing man! As a tuba player, I am so amazed by your talent! Keep it up!

Genius. From an old guy, old school. Just love your stuff!
Thanks Steven!!! Much appreciated!
I love this theme !!
Me too!!!

I’m here for you! Have fun!
Absolutely fantastic
Glad you liked it!! Thanks!! 😁
So cool
Thank you!!
great!!!
Thank you so much!!
Great job scott, sounds amazing. I hope Someday you can come work or give my kids a class or two.

I’d love to, Eric! Send me an email and let’s set something up!!
How do you record yourself multiple times and get the video and audio to line up perfectly?
Also, great playing! I think you sold me the EBE853.
Hey Paul! There are a few videos out there that explain the way to do it. Start with my talk at the Army Conference, Tuba Adventures on TH-cam

It is a wonderfully versatile instrument. Projects like mad. Orchestra, band, quintet and solo, it does it all!
HI SCOTT, ITS ME FROM SEMS. I AM IN THE GOLDEN EAGLE BAND AND PLAY BARITONE. It was awesome having you here and i'm wondering when you will come back
Hey Jared! Great to meet you the other day!! I hope to be invited back next year
Do you recommend a Yamaha 321 euphonium for me
Maybe get it and use a better mouthpiece?

I think I'm going to get the Eastman
YASSS
Right?!? This was a fun one to make
Wow
Glad you liked it!
What kind of chords are the cimbassos playing throughout the song? It's hard to hear through the quacking.
They are usually some cluster, like F#, G, Bb for a G minor harmony. Two notes of the triad plus an added “color” note for dissonance.
@@ScottSutherlandMusic Makes sense, I was thinking there was some D major and A minor chords in there. Thanks.

Ian Doepp Yes it most certainly is!
Scott Sutherland Music great to hear, thanks.
Did you ever do any band stuff in highschool like marching band, jazz band, etc.?
demonface INC oh yeah! I was drum major for three years, including lead drum major of the Los Angeles All-City marching band in the Rose Parade for three years. Played trombone and piano in the jazz band. Even did the Trojan Marching Band while at USC
Wow that's pretty cool. I hope to be a Bluecoat one day after highschool.
good luck!!
Thank you!
Is there any place I can find more info on the E flat, and how to buy it?
Find a local Eastman dealer, they should be able to order it for you. If you don’t know of a dealer near you, submit your info to this form and Eastman will locate one for you: www.eastmanwinds.com/contact
Do you have sheet music of this I can get?
Working on it with MusicNotes.com. My Patreon patrons already have access
1:00 what happened on the piano there?
Not sure. Glitch with the video editing it looks like. Good eye! Didn’t catch that before

where did you get this music from?
Transcribed by ear and a short excerpt that I found for solo piano.
Scott can you play the Simpson theme?
Great idea!! I’ll put it on the list.
uncle ruckus 😳👍
lol! 😆
SCOTT!!!!! DO THE HALO THEME!!!
XD ;)
I’ll put it on the list. Thanks!
Would a medium shank work
Definitely get a large shank. Medium is a special size for some instruments.
Did you use an Eb bass?
Yes, the main solo line is performed on an Eastman EEb 853 prototype tuba
Where did you get your euphonium mute
borrowed it from a local high school. it's a denis wick straight mute
I might take tuba lessons next year
That’s great!!
jabba the butt
Put Jurassic Park on the list, will you?
Oh it’s on the list. You may be pleasantly surprised in a couple weeks 😉
What about Lord of the Rings??
There is plenty more from Middle Earth to come!

I thought you were sponsored by Yamaha
