i cant belive you get negative comments sorin we ve all learned so much from you.you are one of the bestif not the best electronic tech.this knowlege is gold for us.respect for the professor.
The last one that i did without liquid flux, worked for 5 months. With flux will last longer i think. Will try tomorrow, i have one waiting. The method is working fine, as long as it is made like it shoud.
Great job Sorin, your flux is doing a great job for me, love the fact that when it dries it leaves an insulated coating on whatever its been used on, like glass, as its not destructive in any way surely this will improve the chances of the repair lasting longer?
When I was doing Dell laptop warrant repair, the XPS 13 model was my bread and butter.......The graphic card was the issue from the heatsink clogged up.
Frustrating issue.. mine continued doing the same after the re paste.. got to the point it didn't come back again.. ended up swapping the board. Good computer.. shame about the GPU issue.. did last for a few years steady before the GPU overheat. still have it. Also as a side note.. these have an issue with the batteries.. they need a specific bios version to keep the battery charged. A09 if I remember correctly.
You can do 500 deg short time or lower temp like 330 deg longer time. Either way, solder is molten. 500 deg C is destructive temperature, can destroy gpu and other components. So why not use lower temp?
I literally have exactly same laptop, same overheating issue for the gpu, gpu can reach over 75°C on a youtube video ... i am really thinking to create a mod for motherboard on a pc case with a desktop cpu cooler
what if the laptop screen light turns off like this but is plugged into a normal monitor, is it still the VGA chipset that has the problem or is it just the LCD?
I have lenovo ideapad z580, no display, power led and capslock blinking, I did hard reset, with battery, without battery, and many more test, but no display. My question is since my cpu is intel i5 3rd gen 3210m, and the gpu is integrated in cpu, how could I reflow the gpu? Is it possible to reflow a gpu that is integrated in cpu? Thanks for your response in advance. Nick
You didnt actually commented about the thermal paste ammount, there was too much paste on the chip and leaked around.Lucky he didnt get a short (new thermal pastes are conductive).
He luckily has a video on making your own liquid flux! Basically, he uses a brand of solid rosin flux called kalaphonia and mixes it with rubbing alcohol. The trick is to not mix too much rubbing alcohol, so it doesn't evaporate under high temperatures. You don't even need to clean it because the leftover rosin residue will isolate the circuit, so it's great for motherboards with water damage. I'm not the expert, so find his video on it, if you haven't already! It's called "how to make your own flux" I believe.

Hey mate, do you have any solution for the "no power at all" on the Dell M1530? Mine just went off and never got back. Battery pack is ok, all the rest dead. What could it be? Thanks
I did the same as you ..when I opened the ram and started the laptop it started working Everything is fine but after 5 minutes it shutdown suddenly Now the screen works but suddenly the laptop in middle of startup it shutdown
Hi , I have an issue with my Dell XPS m1530... The keys are getting randomly pressed /ghost keys after disconnting the keyboard as well...any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Hi. I have an atten 860d hot air station. It takes much longer time to unsolder Things. Is this because your station has more power? And how do i know , how long i have to heat my graphic chip with my station. I dont want to kill the chip 😊
my station seems not as hot so I go aggressive. think when I choose 450 is actual 350. just got mine so I'll get used to it. probably mess up a few times, but hey that's the price of learning. be safe but sometimes be aggressive. breaking something will show you the limit. practice on a working laptop. heat up until it fails then you'll know for sure.
Well I used your method and it worked great...thank u Uncle Sorin

glad you're back uploading again Sorin, i think you only missed one day but i was getting withdrawal symptons

Thanks for your assistance for the beginners
I bought one at the weekend it seems all good so far.
Your video saved my computer, thankyou for the tutorial!
I'm telling you, you are good! Thanks for the video

Very good Very nice
Thank you so much for this video, have a similar issue and was looking for this.
Cheap and best solution

Pretty sure he was set at 500F not Celsius.

I've as well resolderd a dead graphics card I used the hot-air on 355 degrees and it was working fine again
Of course with Flux
What flux though? Liquid or paste? Sorin says "use the flux i use" but he doesn't specify.

Me puedes ayudar con una xps l702x
I quite like these..its such a shame rhe GPU plague ruined them
Do you ever use copper shims on the graphics and cpu chips
I got this problem with a hp but my mosfet is taking in 19v but putting out .8 is this normal??? Its the mosfet before any 19v power supplies....
same problem with my dell xps m1530 and local services has no solution for this
i know this is quite older video but hopefully someone will answer. Can you use any liquid flux?
Thanks! what bottle do you use for that flux? where do you buy it?
th-cam.com/video/5h2NPkdzRyY/w-d-xo.html
I watched that video. I know about the flux, I was asking about the -- bottle -- that contains the flux.
oh, thats from my electronic cigarette juice :)) I guess you need to start vaping :)))))))))))))))))
LOL, ok. I will try. Thanks
Nice, thanks!
May I ask what kind of flux do you use for it? Thanks.

Question again. In what proportion you make your flux. I try, but my did not leave any glass a like things. Probably the kolofonium whas not enough.
put more rosin to get the consistency
Thats why i ask about proportions. Is it 50:50 or.... :) I'll try to put more ...
Thanks.
Have a great evening.
i dont know, i made once few year ago and stored on a big container :)))) , thank you, u2
i think i did it. thank you
What type of luquid flux do you use? Link will be much appreciated. Thanks
check the video 'about my flux'

i can't recommend you nothing, coz depends of your tools, but try with less time and less heat and test, better to be safe than sorry
