I just ordered for a usb meter from AliExpress. I have this Lenovo Y700 tablet that just went dead from charging. So i decided i want to fix it myself and i have been watching a lot of your videos and learning a lot. Hopefully my first repair goes well. Hehe
People love you, that's why its very easy to send you gifts. You Are Worth it. You give your time and Knowledge to people for FREE and you can not buy free will. A decision you made willingly . Your an absolute ASSET. Thank You so much for your time .
Just to thank you for all this you are doing for us, it really makes a difference! I have been always curious about electronics, specially about fixing things. Yesterday I became very glad and thought about you when I was able to fix a USB Docking Station. My friend should throw it away but I asked him to let me take a look at it. It was dead... completely dead. Straight away, after following your methodology, I found out the main power rail was shorted. You learned me to be suspicious about capacitors and so it was, a capacitor was shorted to ground. I removed it and voilá, it worked! Then I wondered: should I replace it "later" or should I replace it now? Specially knowing the capacitor was in parallel with another one. Then I decided to measure the sound capacitor to find it was 33uF. I went to my tecjunk box and found a board with a capacitor same size, same value. Replaced it and crossed my fingers thinking "I hope it will not get broken within the next three months otherwise...." :) Again, thank you so much Sorin!
I picked up an Asus C302 Chromebook for £12 inc postage!!!!! On eBay. Was faulty due to milk spillage. All I did was removed the mobo and cleaned it and it worked ever since. Does need a new bat now though. And yes I know..... Chromebook.... Hmmm but its great for watching movies on the bed. Plus its a high def glass 1080p touch screen.... My Bargain of 2023.
Thermal camera job. They do make life easier sometimes. No cap no problem, hehhe! 😀. Love your vids Sorin. I've even started to use your vernacular e.g. 'eets working!' , 'i come wiv beeping fing' keep it up and merry xmas.
This is a niceeeeeeeeee laptop, I am currently using its next revision e6440, I picked it up very cheap, put in an ssd and 16 gigs of ram, amazing for work. Much better build quality than modern laptops.
FYI next revision of E5440 is E5450... (no E5460) then E5470... 80...90 E5470 stars NVME.E5440 E5=model 4=14" 40 =4th gen Intel CPU So E5570 would be E5 15" 7th gen intel CPU
Yes, indeed....great laptops. My daily driver is an E6520, still working perfectly. I am about to upgrade (slightly) the CPU but, running Linux Mint, it is fast, boots in 20 seconds and does everything i need. It hardly even gets warm. Love it.
Hi Sorin, great job troubleshooting the mainbord and explaning the schematic, thank u let me learning much more every day, bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
well, my native is Hungarian, and we have a speaking "ajándék lónak ne nézd a fogát", what means "don't look at the teeth of a gift horse" :) Other way, i live in southwest Slovakia where inhabitant´s native is mixed of Slovak and Hungarian, so we have a version of that speaking, as "ajándék nyihaha necsumi protko" - which means the same, but, with some joke :D keep up with the great work, greetings: Benedikt
Hello from Greece. Thank you very much for your videos. they have helped me a lot. I wonder if you could make a video showing how the power supply that charges the laptop's battery works, using a multimeter and an oscilloscope, and showing the voltages before and after the mosfet and the waveform that activates the gates from the bq chips. I think you understand what I mean. thanks.
I am from Nigeria, I appreciate all your videos. Thank you for your lectures, I have learned much from your videos. Please do you have a live question and answer section ?

I have this usb tester. it will help you and you can reverse the input/outup coz of the low resistance. The menu switch is not very friendly but can do your work. As for the missing capacitor, I'm waiting for the next video.
Nice present! It's very true, you should never look a gift horse in the mouth! - Good to see you not using pliers to remove a capacitor and that you're going to replace the capacitor on another video, maybe you're not so 'dodgy' after all... ;)
@JobsonGabriel: a) PD401, Two-terminal diode. No damage is seen on the body of the component. b) PD400, three-terminal diode, three people in my workshop say that you are right and that you have eagle eyesight. Thank you for your observation (opinion). All the best.
Great job Sorin, i had a dell laptop almost identical to that one.I INJECTED 3AMP AFTER THE CURRENT RESISTOR NOTHING GOT HOT ,4AMP STILL NOT HOT. I SHORTED THE CURRENT SENSOR TO GROUND IT WAS SHORTED. I DID 2 MOTHER BOARDS SAME OUT COME. WHAT WENT WRONG.I'M DOING EVERYTHING THE VIDEO TELL ME TO TRY STILL NO RERESULT. THANK
Thanks I have a question, Asus powers on but nothing more, no fan spin no nother indicator light, power bottom can not even force shut down What could be the fault and remedy
All you really need is a cheap multi 18650 battery holder and a voltage converter, with a Dell-type adapter plug and you can make your own substitute battery. That's what i do, with salvaged laptop 18650 batteries. You need never buy a regular battery again, and i pop out the 18650's and charge them off the laptop. Works great. Plus, i made a Y cable so i could swap in a new battery before unplugging the depleted one, so i didn't need to shut it down to swap. I made it mainly for power cuts, but it would work fine for you too.
