SOS is one of the most wonderful song ever! Cher is one of the most iconic woman ever but this clip is certainly the worst eve, these ABBA references are so embarrassing (and I'm one of their biggest fan)... We miss Cher in the clip!
Once in a while I always come back to this video because it has become one of my favorites ever. Not only is everything beautifully shot and a great tribute to ABBA (the angles, the expressions, the colors), but the reinterpretation of the song is mind blowing. The director really turned a love song into a sorority message and fucking nailed it. To me, this is one of the greatest music videos ever done.
For the haters: Cher's presence is exactly what a concept video for this song does not need. If she had appeared, it would have been all about Cher. Her absence (and its marvelous ABBA inspired direction) directs the focus to others, particularly women. *Applause* to the creative/tech team and actors involved in this piece. Applause, also to Cher, because, well, it's a new recording from Cher.
When you are a Cher fan you want to see Cher... the ABBA references are way too obvious and not subtle... I'm a fan of both and that's why I don't like this clip... of course it would have been all about Cher because she's the star!
That doesn't mean that Cher should hog the spotlight and make it all about herself, which unfortunately, is what too many younger stars are doing these days. Not to mention over the hill stars who desperately trying to stay relevant. Especially if they dress too little and showing off their goods without any shame, or dancing and acting like a stripper in heat when they're nearing or in their 50's. (Madonna, Beyonce, Selena, Ariana, Kardashian/Jenner clan, are you getting this?) By not appearing in this video and plastering herself all over the screen, Cher is showing that she is not an egomaniac and that this video has a purpose: to reach out to and give hope and encouragement to other women, making them see the light. This is especially a good thing in these times, when women are now being given a voice and standing up for what they believe in. Great job, Cher. People will be remembering this for years to come.
I couldn't control my tears when I noticed this video is about women standing for each other. This is so empowering. Cher is not physically in it, but she's the voice giving strength to all these women. This is so Cher.
Exactly, every color shape, age, looks differant. They are trying to "empower" a young girl who has lost her way, unsure of who she is. The ending is perfect and people are right it's very ABBA in look. It also proves , Cher doesn't have to be "in it" to be amazing. She wanted the song about the message, not her.
Cher should have been in the clip! It's totally nonesense clip, no need of a message in that song. Only the ABBA fans will see the reference to some of their clips. This video will totally ruin the sales of the album!
My gay ass born in a ABBA fan family and of course Cher lover family is still crying. Right now im living far from my family and listening and seeing this videos and the cover songs, remembering all the moments we lived singing all the ABBA discography, just makes me nostalgic and sentimental. Being this video about women supporting women, i remembered my mom, she always supported me in any way she could, i'm gonna called her later... i miss her embrace.

This is just my humble opinion on the debate of trans. I feel that Men should be men and women should be woman physically. You were born a certain gender for a reason and you should adjust your logic to adhere to the fate of Nature!🤔 My reasoning is....certain Doctors and psychologists have made this seem utterly benign, however not all yet many that are fully transgendered wish they could press rewind, go back...turn back the clock due to their emotional and physical state not transitioning well at all! Yes you can have feminine or masculine traits, applying to both genders. but when you play God with your body, it's a very grievous thing to do to ones self. And certainly a very traumatic change from your natural gender.✌️💚 God Bless
If cher was the woman that gave hug to the sad girl at the last part...would been so good👍👍👌 . Good video for the song but i miss my queen goddess Cher💕💕
Love the philosophy of women embraced one to another and in groups. Reminds me of the tough moments that I had to deal with at work at the office and a university where I taught. Love the girl who smiled represents a tough person who has to deal with things bravely. I really feel enlightened watching this. Cher and all women and girls are the stars here. Bravo for the director also.
This video is not about Cher. It's about Abba and Cher's support of and respect for women. It also shows a woman with a healthy ego. She doesn't have to be physically in it. Her voice is enough.
I like that Cher is not in the Video. That shows that she is not trying to present herself, but giving room for the music and the interpretation of the video.
girls need this, having that much pain and fights on the industry THIS IS WHAT WE NEED, love, compassion and empathy, LOVE CHER, she's amazing, we, as man, need to question our privileges and change them. Girls are doing their work changing the rest♥
Very well done. I think this new album honours both Cher and Abba, and as boths work has not been squeezed dry like a lemon by the industry, I hope there's more to come
I remember the animated video for "Dark Lady" off of the 1974 album of the same name. I saw it on the Sonny and Cher show and it's always been one of my favourite songs by Cher. Not many people know that this was one of the first music videos, well before MTV which started on August 1, 1981. Cher has always been and will always be an ultimate powerhouse entertainer. Her live shows are so interactive and amazing. She is second to no one.
Any ABBA fan knows a real fan directed this video. The angles, poses, camera, facial expressions, everything spot on!
I agree
Yeah but the main reason I'm here is bc of Cher NOT abba ....
First thing I noticed
I was just about to say that lol
it was like watching an ABBA video. however Cher should've been in it.

Love Cher 🥀🎶☕💙
The colors are really fantastic
I keep revisiting this video from time to time. There’s something really soothing in it.
If cher was the woman that gave hug to the sad girl at the last part...would been so good👍👍👌 . Good video for the song but i miss my queen goddess Cher💕💕
a strong message from Cher in this video, we dont see it, but it's very Abba esque style in 2018 era
Lovely modern version of their original videos for SOS and Knowing me, knowing you. Well done!
I've been listening to Cher all week long
I love this video, is so important to hear the children sometimes they send us a S.O.S and nobody hear them
I like that Cher is not in the Video.
¡What a great visual homage! This video transports you to a decade that will not come back... Long live ABBA, Cher and the 70s.
This is so ABBA ❤❤❤ I love Cher ❤
Is this H&M campaign?
But it's realllyyyy pretttyyy
You're amazing ^_^
That's really my opinion, it looks more like a H&M publicity campaign than a real clip where everybody is missing Cher!
I thought it was Topshop product 😅
I thought the same thing! lol
Go back even further to Benetton ads from the 80s - but I think they were actually paying homage to ABBA videos in its styling.
Cher is queen because you don’t have to listen to here music. All you have to do is hear her voice and fall in love with her #icon
Very well done. I think this new album honours both Cher and Abba, and as boths work has not been squeezed dry like a lemon by the industry, I hope there's more to come
Cher, obrigado por nos presentear com sua voz maravilhosa e com um videoclip tão lindo!
She did that. Love from Argentina!
Totally inspired by ABBA's videos. Love it so much!
Lauren Weedman serving face emotional realness in this entire piece of art. I stan a QUEEN.
Sisterhood. I love the message of this video. Beautifully done Miss Cher!
Cher está vivíssima e continua maravilhosa! Amazing song! I love you Cher 💙❤️❤️❤️
This is stunning. Loved the re-evoc of the original video...loved every moment of it
Yeah, she’s not in the video, we get it. Pay attention to the message instead, Mary.
Thank you, Henny.
Okay okay Henry, I get it. Thanks for keeping me focused
Its flawless. Cher, and the entire crew, couldnt have sent a more viseral, and timely message of compassion and empowerment
This video seems to be what this country needs right now
Que clipe lindo! É sobre mulheres ajudando, dando suporte, estando ali umas pras outras. 💗
the music video of Cher's sos is like the reimagining of the original abba video
Cher does it again! What a great homage to ABBA!
amazing, beautiful music, spectacular clip with a beautiful message ..... Cher you're awesome in everything you do.
litterally crying here, how powerfull
Hermoso hermoso genia Cher besos desde Uruguay
Me encantó!!!! ❤
ABBA-Inspired + Female Power = HAIL Agnetha, Frida and Cher!! 👸👸👸 The Queens!!
The part when they hug each other at the end, this gave me chills!! Amazing video👏👏👏👏👏👏
