I am nothing short of astounded that it was possible to grab a brand new Turbo with two pack-in games for $69 and I instead turned up a nose to get World of Illusion for my Genesis for $60. Will someone please hurry up and invent a time machine so I can go back to 92 and slap myself?
I have a buddy who bought Panzer Dragoon Saga at launch, didn't play it and then traded it in for the latest Madden game. He still has the trade-in receipt, too. Just to remind him of the dumbest decision he ever made.
For the question of the day, the original Bonk on Wii VC is the only one I've played for a significant amount of time, but I really like it! This series really needs to be brought back in a big way, but sadly, it's owned by Konami. Maybe we could at least get a Bonk Anniversary Collection?
Never had a chance to play a real Bonk game yet, but I do love Bomberman Hero, so I'll go with that one. Poor thing was another victim of "can't be allowed to do anything differently."
What's frustrating is that none of those multiplayer complaints would have been leveled against the game if it had remained a Bonk sequel. They may still have disliked the game, but it wouldn't have been because of the baggage they brought in from the past games.
I only had the first one but I did love it.. Thats another game I once had mastered when I had the original.. I can't seem to play as well on my PSP digital version for some reason.. How about a Bonk HD Remaster Collection?
And speaking of Sonic, I'm hearing he was murdered. 😉 But about Bonk, I tried the first one on Emulators, it was fun, but haven't tried any of the others yet, including that Bomberman that was going to be a Bonk game. Guess EGM didn't get the memo or don't think they would have expected a multi player game. So since I've only played the first game, I'm answering that by default.
That last commercial is false advertising, TG16/PCE is 8-bit. Guess EGM didn't review Super Bonk. QOTD, favorite pure bonk game is bonks revenge. Favorite game with bonk in it is probably saturn bomberman.
My freelance career was taking off at a time when magazines were going out of business, so about the closest I ever got was being part of Hardcore Gamer Magazine. I was published in a number of local newspapers, back in the mid-2000s (before all the newspapers went away). Outside of that, my freelance work has mostly been online -- UGO, Switch Planet, etc.
don't have a ton of experience with the bonk franchise but I did find air zonk pretty fun the little bit I've played of it. and indeed, konami bought up all of hudson's IPs and have mostly been sitting on them I mean not so much as a damn pachinko machine?! what the hell konami? at least give us some kinda BONK Classic Collection or Hudson's Adventure Island!

@@DefunctGames Sometimes I'm convinced the entire video game retail market is built upon a foundation of blunders by we ignorant young consumers.
I always thought it _genius_ how they made Bonk's head super big so they could make him have so much expression.
RIP Bubsy creator
Super Bonk for SNES may be my favorite one. Love all the different forms Bonk can change into, crazy character design, and well, everything!

@@Cre8Lounge The graphics chips were 16 bit. So if you add the bits of both chips, which is nonsense, it will be 32!
Cyril did u write for any of the magazines?

If you're gonna talk system mascots, even though they are terrible, you must include Alex Kidd.
I originally had an Alex Kidd reference in the intro, but opted for the joke (Blasto).
Still an awesome video! Good stuff.
The Zonk games are a complete mess. Overrated, sloppy and easy.
