    Its cool to know someone who has all the toys one dreams of.. Like I wonder if lil Camarata playing in the dirt as a child with his tonka toys knew one day he was gonna own his fleet of the life sized ones..

    Skidders are great in a clear cut. But if you are just thinning or have to make a lot of turns you can really damage your most "noticeable" remaining trees. In the video at 12:30 you can see a log tearing the outer bark layer off the large standing tree. Once the growing cambium layer is destroyed the tree is dead on that side where the damage occurred. Trust me when I tell you that every time you drive past you will see those skidder scars on all those prominent scenic trees. The best harvesters will leave a sacrificial tree at the corner of every tight turn of a planned route to prevent damage to the nice ones. On the last pass they carefully drag out all the torn up sacrificial trees. Try to harvest in the dry season when the bark is tougher. In spring early growth you can tear it off with your fingers it's so fragile. Dressing the logs at the fell site will promote nutrient return and, really important for your property, control erosion until the ground cover can establish.

    • @mbrick
      @mbrick 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Great insight, thanks for sharing! Good idea leaving a sacrificial tree around corners.

      I think the idea here is that he has hundreds of acres of trees that all look the same. He needs to make clearings WITHOUT ANY HELP he’s okay with damaging some trees in order to do it fast.
      Now with that being said.. somebody like you or I would put in the extra time or effort to keep it beautiful it’s just some people don’t care as much.

    I've been watching Andrew since probable back at 30k subs if I'm not mistaken. I started watching some time around when the castle was getting finished up. Somewhere near where the gantry in the garage being built. I'm a early retired plumber because of health issues. So I live vicariously through your channel. Any Labrador lover is a guy worth give shot and I think that's probably what first caught my eye. With all that I see on YT and people becoming quite successful for complete nonsense it's so awesome to see someone who is such a hard worker make it. Even though we will never know each other I feel a sense of pride witnessing what you've made out for yourself. For us common folk who have an inborn love for playing up on a tractor or other piece of equipment for myself your the closest thing that I would call a hero. Truly living the dream. My grandad who was a multi millionaire in the HVAC business , he had a saying if you watch the pennies, the dollars will mind them. You putting in the hard work to source these used equipment and making them certainly cost effective is impressive. Your capabilities as a company are enormous. Lots of people probably have no idea that if you purchased all that equipment new or slightly used, you'd have way over seven figures. Anyways keep up the great work. America needs many more men just like yourself

    Andrew I enjoy your videos because you are willing to tackle the unknown using your brain . Not always successful the first time but you learn from failures. However, I must admit a supportive woman makes your videos more enjoyable.

    Andrew wonderful video like always I think you missing is a good wood chipper so you can improve the land slap in both of you properties and you can sell the wood chips by truck load or if you ad the adapter of a scale for the louder or excavator the you can sell it by the ton. Made the force be will you always, lol good luck keep it up my friend 😊

    Cool machine, thanks for the video and all the great angles. I intended on buying a 440 for what we do but came across a 640 grapple so im pretty sure it will be added to the fleet! Honestly, after skidding with a tractor winch for 6 years I'm ready for a grapple. Mini excavator for sorting brush and logs definitely helps!

    Have always admired Andrew for his work ethic, and the way he is frugal with the money he has, and still stays very down to earth as well. His parents raised him right, and he deserves what he has, cause he has worked his butt off for a lot of years to get to where he is today, and his knowledge is always impressive as well, and you, Like with his cousin Jesse, are always learning from him, and he is always willing to share what he knows. Enjoyed the video Andrew. What are your plans for this mountain property?

    I'd just like you to know that your videos are:
    A) Satisfying
    B) Well edited
    C) Perfect length (Although, I could probably watch a 24 hour livestream daily
    D) Educational
