Interesting analysis! Thank you so much! I agree that checking the facts is always important before making public statements. More importantly so if you are a public figure of some standing. I love that board games slowly evolve from nerd niche to a viable hobby :D It is only sad that with the growth trends of witch hunts and demonization in the boardgame space have become more frequent. I hope with growth also slowly comes maturity. There should be fun in board gaming not unnecessary toxicity. While Mythic is maybe not a well run company I can not see deliberate malice in their actions. Reality caught up with them and the dream they lived now haunts them. Still they try to get their games out. And some fantastic games they are. I do so hope it works out for all our sake. Crowdfunding is no shopping mall, afterall, and we generally sign a waiver that says a reward is not guaranteed, back at own risk ^^ .... In case of AI art I think many people overreact. It is very much like the 70ies when everybody cried because computers and automatization would make them jobless. Society will adapt as with all invention milestones. Also there was always a market for mass-art in contrast to artists art. It does not matter if it is from stock or AI. I even think it will create new jobs for people/artists who have to operate the AI art generation. It is just a new tool ^^ Please stay positive and happy gaming everyone :)
I have to disagree with it being a lie as it is pretty clear that he was believing it at the time. Also it would be incredibly dumb to lie about a thing so easily checkable.
Well he posted about it delibrately to rant about it and the posts still exist, i'd say it should have been deleted as keeping it out there is continuing to make sure the lie is out there ir at least do a better job in correcting himself. I'd say it was initially a mistake but he kind of doubled down afterwards.
