So the Pokéstar Studios' "Propmons" having typings actually are intentional, as the player is given rental Pokémon to complete the films (you are an 𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓾𝓮𝓻 after all), and as such the typings are used for thematic and gameplay reasons. Let's use Byrcen as an example. Stay with me now, this is going to a bit of yap session. The Dark/Psychic Brycen is actually Brycen-Man, of the Brycen-Man quadrilogy. These films follow your average Power Rangers type plot, simple Good vs Evil stuff, and despite being the title character, Brycen-Man is the villain. Throughout the films you are given rental Lucario (and Riolu for the first film) and every Pokémon you fight Dark or at least partially Dark. Bisharp, Zoroark, and Vullaby all make appearances as enemy Pokémon. The First Brycen-Man film can also be seen as a tutorial for Pokestar Studios overall, as it is one of the most straight forward, directions, using type matchups to bridge the gap between the general Pokémon battle mechanic and the Pokestar studio format, actively telling you to use specific type moves to properly progress the filming. So why is Brycen-Man Dark/Psychic? Well, for one, he's the evil master mind, but also, the game is also pulling a fast one on you. You see, you only actually "fight" Brycen Man once, in "Brycen-Man Strikes Back 2" (who thought of these names), where it is actually a battle where the only objective is to KO "Brycen-Man" within 15 Turns. Brycen-Man holds an Eject Button, and is accompanied by a Focus Sash Zoroark and an Eject Button Mandibuzz. They all know U-Turn, by the way. And they're all slightly over leveled so they're stronger and more durable. And your only Pokémon? Two Lucarios. The first one holds the Black Belt; knowing the moves: Endure, Reversal, and Quick Attack. The other holds the Quick Claw while knowing the moves Swords Dance, Fury Cutter and Force Palm. The entire thing is a puzzle of getting the second Lucario out onto the field safely so that it can beat Brycen-Man with Fury Cutter, while using the fact you've been conditioned into using fighting type moves against you as using Force Palm can genuinely cost you the fight in some scenarios. They genuinely put thought into the films as they all have that kind of puzzle-like problem solving. Fun Fact: Bycen was an actor before he became a Gym Leader; an injury being why he retired from acting and Alder (the B&W Champion) suggesting becoming a trainer. This is also why he's not a Gym Leader in B&W2 as the player character reinvigorates his passion for acting through the Pokestar Studios Minigames, causing him to retire and continue acting full time again. Double Fun fact: Wulfric, the Ice type Gym Leader of Kalos, is actually a fan of the series. Also I can't believe you didn't mention Spidops Unbound, the unreleased true form of Arceus that could be accessed by hacking it in.
Yeah you have to get a pikachu to level 100 and then get it to use thunderbolt on the locked power plant door on the desert route to get in to the secret area and fight Goku trust me bro
I can't believe Yoshi was actually in Pokemon all along. Nintendo Power wasn't lying after all! And Dragon/Psychic with higher special than MEWTWO would've been an absolutely BUSTED combo back then! I'm actually kinda glad it was never made available though, otherwise the Gen 1 meta would be in even more shambles lol!
All I will add to this is that Datamining HOME at one point revealed that there was a second form of Spidops that was completely scrapped. The boy was robbed.
I firmly believe it was a typo. The datamine found unused images that corresponded to renders for this 2nd form of Spidops as well as Tandemaus and the forms of Maushold if they were either male or female. Each image was an Egg with text including a National Dex No. and form ID. The numbers for the Tandemaus and Maushold corresponded perfectly, but the images for a second Spidops form displayed a form ID of 0, which is the ID of the base form. Due to this and because what happened Tandemaus and Maushold were more obviously mistakes, I think that what happened with Spidops was just a mistake too.
I remember the first time I tried out the PokeStar Studios movie with Monica, the giant girlfriend. You're intended to survive and stall long enough to calm her down to get the happy ending, and the default Pokémon doesn't have the option to damage her. So naturally I brought my own Pawniard and used Guilloutine on her. Bet the viewers didn't see that one coming.
I originally thought that Ultra Beasts would have been uncatchable when first revealed because the lore suggests that they’re aliens Pokeballs are designed to work on Pokemon, not extraterrestrial life forms But that logic is flawed and ultimately it was the better decision for those ultra beasts to become catchable
Yeah I’d say Deoxys established that while yes there are “aliens” they are still considered pokemon . Several Pokédex entries imply or say outright that the pokemon isn’t originally from earth (think clefairy and weird gen 5 physic type ). Also the beasts need a very specific tool to catch , that’s also covered they are pokemon but different

To give a little context about why all these funky Pokestar characters have typings and limited movepools, Pokestar studios functioned as a sort of a "puzzle" battle minigame, using fixed rental pokemon as you work around to "follow the script" An example would be with the Majin movie, where he is fundamentally invulnerable with the Dark/Ghost Wonder Guard set. However, you are provided with an Octillery for the script where you have the move Soak and Energy Ball, which is the answer on how you actually take down the dang thing That's not the only way to complete a movie script though, every movie also has a secret "twist ending" route where you complete the movie by say, stalling out the timer. One that comes in mind in particular is you selling out humanity during an invasion so that you can get it with an alien girl Game Freak put, frankly, A LOT of detail over this one mini side mode, like these movie pokemon were meant to originally have shiny sprites to them Every movie has a corresponding poster comprised of over 10 pixels, and to really phone in the idea that this was an international gig you have movies with English, German, Japanese and Chinese titles There's a tree that you can surf on in this area
It's realy great, but it enfuriates me that GF didn't disalbe critical hits in this, so even if you fallow the script exactly you can still randomly lose in some scenarios. Or win way sooner than you should have.

That Floette is definitely going to be in legends ZA. The model randomly got an update for the Pokémon transfer software a year ago. Mind you it’s unreleased and doesn’t pass the checks to be transferred into the software. I see that as basically a guarantee of it being in ZA.
8:32 For the most part (don’t remember all of them), they’re necessary for those scripted battles - especially the alternative/secret endings. For example, if you’re supposed to defeat the opponent in turn 5 with a fighting mon, it’s supposed to be 4x weak to a fighting move to ensure it works all the time (making it impossible/extremely unlikely to fail because of bad RNG)
Shadow and Knuckles wait for you at their respective lakes. Sonic roams around in Sinnoh however and it's really hard to catch him because you're too slow

The Pokestar Studios opponents have stats, types, and abilities because they are "real" opponents when you fight them, and simply have the "prop" sprite before the movie applies special effects to them. They're basically puzzle bosses, where you're not necessarily trying to kill them as efficiently as possible, but also do things like force the battle to last a certain number of turns, or avoid knocking out certain opponents, or even intentionally throw the battle if the script calls for it.
All these unobtainable forms make me wish that sometime in the future, GameFreak decides to add an exclusive item into the games that can make these Pokemon transform into their exclusive forms with some adjustments to their stats. Would definitely make some of them more viable.

8:20 this is just a thought or theory or whatever but Pokestar Studio was sorta a puzzle game. You had to match dialogue and attacks to complete the film in a certain way. So giving the green screen entities types and stats will help produce certain endings if certain requirements are met. Like for example the Giant Grlfriend (or Sister of you play the female trainer) is a normal type. She is really OP and her attacks basically one shot most pokemon (aside from the movie pokemon) so you're only supposed to outlast all the attacks to get the good ending. But if you manage to defeat her with a strong fighting type pokemon you can get the weird ending which count toward a badge and basically increases the revenue at the end.
I really wanted the Starmobiles to be somewhat usable. Definitely not the real big ones, but just a smaller thing that uses Revavroom's base stats, but with the different typing, ability, and signature move.
Pokestar enemies have stats and abilities because you're supposed to fight them. It's usually a puzzle where you have to figure out a way to win, survive or even lose the battle in a set amount of turns, with dialogue options you pick influancing what move oponent uses
@@cjlite0210Wouldn't Brick Break be super effective? Scrappy turns Fighting type moves into neutral hits against Ghost, but Dark is weak against Fighting. Therefore, Wonder Guard would be bypassed completely
@@NokoTheTaco That's just genuinely wrong. Wonder Guard deflects all damage that is NOT Super Effective. It's sole user, Shedinja, can only be hit by Rock, Dark, Fire, Flying, and Ghost attacks. Because Scrappy bypasses the immunity that Ghost has against Fighting types, Brick Break would be Super Effective against a Ghost and Dark type, allowing a hit to go through

Eternatus always struck me as an incomplete mon. Like it was hatched prematurely before reaching peak power. It's just a dragon skeleton. Would be interesting to get an Eternatus: Revived Form in a future title.

Honestly Majin is the most Pokemon thing to come from Pokestar Studios. I could see it being a second or third stage evolution. Wonder Guard (Even in a Fairy type society) would have to go though. I wouldn't be mad if it became a pseudo mascot.

My favorite of the pokestar studio cast is the tiny robot and the broken robot that could very well be an evolution if it existed. Im pretty sure it had awful typing though.
Blaze Black 2 Redux adds an additional Colress fight where he uses 4 of the Pokestar “Pokémon” against you. His version of UFO has Recover, Volt Switch, Psychic, and Aeroblast. It’s also holding Leftovers, and is exactly as obnoxious as it sounds.
Someday the baaooom line will exist. Bwaafooom is just to cool for a second stage name. And babapopoom just looks sick as fuck. Fire fairy fireworks just works.
Something kinda neat is that there is an official pokemon guide book that had Eternal Floette's menu sprite on the cover, despite it not being legal. Maybe Z-A will finally make it legal, maybe if the game takes place in the past, then maybe Floette joined the player from Z-A for the story before it finally returned to AZ in X and Y
Eternal Flower Floette would definitely be usable. As you noted, its BST is only 1 point lower than Florges's, but it's a bit more offensively oriented--Florges is +4 in HP, +1 in Defense, and +26 in Special Defense, while EFF is +13 in Special Attack and +17 in Speed. Note that with just how specially tanky the line is, even at *-26* Special Defense and +13 Special Attack compared to Florges, Eternal Flower Floette's best stat is still Special Defense with Special Attack second, same as Florges. The only difference in the ordinals is that EFF has Speed as its third-best stat while Florges's third-best is HP.

fun fact that i got off of asking people in the serebii discord server about some weirdness with the listed revavroom stats on there is that apparently there's the stats they initially get set, and then they get 2x hp in the battle with speed getting overwritten again. the initial speed and hp are in the bounds of potential base stats (0-255), though they vary between the starmobiles. bulbapedia lists the in-battle stats, not the initial stats. serebii seems to have updated the listed starfall street stats to reflect the in battle ones but you can view the old ones on the wayback machine (jan 2023 does the job well enough)

Among Pokéstar opponents, you forgot F-00, a humanoid robot that's the only Steel/Normal creature to date.
Plus some other opponents had typings that were unique back then. This is just the only one that still remains unique.

The Pokestar Studios opponents have stats, types, and abilities because they are "real" opponents when you fight them, and simply have the "prop" sprite before the movie applies special effects to them. They're basically puzzle bosses, where you're not necessarily trying to kill them as efficiently as possible, but also do things like force the battle to last a certain number of turns, or avoid knocking out certain opponents, or even intentionally throw the battle if the script calls for it.

8:20 this is just a thought or theory or whatever but Pokestar Studio was sorta a puzzle game. You had to match dialogue and attacks to complete the film in a certain way. So giving the green screen entities types and stats will help produce certain endings if certain requirements are met.
Like for example the Giant Grlfriend (or Sister of you play the female trainer) is a normal type. She is really OP and her attacks basically one shot most pokemon (aside from the movie pokemon) so you're only supposed to outlast all the attacks to get the good ending.
But if you manage to defeat her with a strong fighting type pokemon you can get the weird ending which count toward a badge and basically increases the revenue at the end.

@@NokoTheTaco That's just genuinely wrong. Wonder Guard deflects all damage that is NOT Super Effective. It's sole user, Shedinja, can only be hit by Rock, Dark, Fire, Flying, and Ghost attacks. Because Scrappy bypasses the immunity that Ghost has against Fighting types, Brick Break would be Super Effective against a Ghost and Dark type, allowing a hit to go through

Honestly Majin is the most Pokemon thing to come from Pokestar Studios. I could see it being a second or third stage evolution. Wonder Guard (Even in a Fairy type society) would have to go though. I wouldn't be mad if it became a pseudo mascot.

My favorite of the pokestar studio cast is the tiny robot and the broken robot that could very well be an evolution if it existed. Im pretty sure it had awful typing though.
Blaze Black 2 Redux adds an additional Colress fight where he uses 4 of the Pokestar “Pokémon” against you. His version of UFO has Recover, Volt Switch, Psychic, and Aeroblast. It’s also holding Leftovers, and is exactly as obnoxious as it sounds.

Eternal Flower Floette would definitely be usable. As you noted, its BST is only 1 point lower than Florges's, but it's a bit more offensively oriented--Florges is +4 in HP, +1 in Defense, and +26 in Special Defense, while EFF is +13 in Special Attack and +17 in Speed. Note that with just how specially tanky the line is, even at *-26* Special Defense and +13 Special Attack compared to Florges, Eternal Flower Floette's best stat is still Special Defense with Special Attack second, same as Florges. The only difference in the ordinals is that EFF has Speed as its third-best stat while Florges's third-best is HP.

fun fact that i got off of asking people in the serebii discord server about some weirdness with the listed revavroom stats on there is that apparently there's the stats they initially get set, and then they get 2x hp in the battle with speed getting overwritten again. the initial speed and hp are in the bounds of potential base stats (0-255), though they vary between the starmobiles. bulbapedia lists the in-battle stats, not the initial stats. serebii seems to have updated the listed starfall street stats to reflect the in battle ones but you can view the old ones on the wayback machine (jan 2023 does the job well enough)
I hope we eventually get toned down versions of the starmobiles, like a Revavroom in a tiny buggy with stats closer to its regular form
