Nice set Benn. One of my favourite film franchise's I really wish that Fox would release a blu ray boxset for the 1970's tv shows Planet of the apes and the animated series Return to the planet of the apes.🙊🙉🙈

I wish they would too, really liked the show. Watched it all again a couple of weeks ago. Sad that they didn't do a season 2 and more. If you watch the last episode, there is no indication whatsoever that it's finished. Due to its unpopularity in the US the show got abruptly cancelled, so I can't see them making a blu ray for it as it wasn't a success. Surprisingly, it was extremely popular in the UK :)
Having said that, this blu ray industry can often surprise you. For example, one of my favourite shows, Columbo got a complete blu ray remaster in Japan of all places. To the point, that the company behind the production, NHK, have recently remastered it in 4K! to broadcast it on Japanese TV in 2018. Hope they will one day put it on disc too.
It's a beautiful set Benn for a great bunch of movies! I have the new trilogy, the Burton one and the first original film. But there are so many versions and packs out there of the original films that it's hard to pick the right one!
Yeah, there are a lot of sets out there, but this new release is the only one that has all 9 films, I think. So happy to have it in my collection! Thanks for watching Rob! Happy New Year
Oh man this is a awesome looking and sounding set. The original is one of my favorite movies of all time. Part 2 is pretty great as well. You know what, I even enjoy whalbergs version to a certain extent.

Hi Benn, I got given the dvd boxset with the Behind the Planet of the Apes disc as a kid, but have been reluctant to upgrade due to reading some naff reviews of the Blu Ray picture quality. Are any of the original five films remastered in any way? Dont mind if the picture quality still stands up, but it doesn't seem to get the restorative treatment afforded to the other sci-fi classic of that year - 2001.
Hey there, I am not sure if they have been professionally remastered in a specific way but the picture quality in all the movies is really good, I am really happy with this set, and comparing the original to the dvd release I have, the difference is clear. Hi Benn, nice set buddy, I seen the set on the Zavvi site, I loved the old & new franchise of the Planet of the apes movies, are you aware that they had a tv series in 1974 it ran for one season only, it’s available in a dvd only set, anyway nice edition to the collection 😎👍

Does this UK-version of the box contain the unrated versions of Battle and Conquest? It seems nigh impossible to find any info on the contents of this particular release. Both the US and French versions of the box has the info on the unrated versions on the front cover, but the UK-box does not. I prefer the design of this UK-version to the US, but it’s too bad they didn’t include the UHD-discs for the last three films. Nice look on the box in this video otherwise! Would be most thankful if you could provide some info on whether this contains the unrated versions or not :-)
Hi David, sorry for the late reply, I am not sure if the versions of Battle and Conquest are the unrated ones or not, I have looked over the whole boxset, the discs and the screen menus and special features of the films you mention, it doesn´t say anything about it, and just by watching them I wouldn´t be able to tell you which version they are, if you know how long the unrated versions are, I could tell you the runtime, but that is never an exact way to tell, sorry I couldn´t be of more help. @@blu-raybenn4854 Hi Benn, thanks for the answer! I would assume it doesn't contain the unrated versions then. The other versions of the box that I mentioned have both the theatrical and unrated versions, so it seems that the UK-box ignores them altogether (even if it might conain the extra minutes that constitute the unrated versions as deleted scenes - I think it's 45 minutes for "Battle"!). Unrated version of "Battle" is 96 minutes long and unrated "Conquest" is 87 minutes long (seems to only be a minute longer than the theatrical version). I used dvdcompare as a source, and it seems to say that the US-version is the only one containing the unrated version of "Battle" (I don't think the French version is listed, but it has info for the unrated versions on the cover). It's weird that there are such big differences between the different versions of the 50 Years-box! One would assume it should be the same content everywhere when they use the same cover and everything :-) Again, thanks for the reply!
@@davidoscarsson1686 OK, yeah, strange that different countries release different versions, I suppose it will come down to the same old thing, money, maybe if you pay more for the rights, you can use the unrated, or maybe the company is paid to not release the unrated versions to other countries, we are just pawns in a huge game of chess, lol, take care and thanks again for watching.
