The honey comb grid does not make the light softer though. It introduces an array of harder shadows by “focusing” the light in many small sections. Hold your hand in front of a piece of paper and compare the shadows with and without the comb to see what I mean.

Agreed, and thank you for making me wonder about it. It’s almost easier to understand than western English because of how clear the annunciations are. But sounds completely natural. Wish I could master a language like this!!
