There is a reason why he is the GOAT. You have just seen the reason. He set the bar so high, that no one will ever beat it. When I first seen his skill level, I said that here is a man that got bored with the guitar, and had to find ways to make it interesting for himself. I thoroughly believe that the guitar is actually part of him. The music comes out so effortlessly. It's like his soul is speaking to us when he plays.

I'm 63 years old and have been playing guitar from age 13 ... and when watch Stevie play ... it's like ... "WOW ... I don't even know what I'm doing playing guitar! Now please don't think I'm bragging... when I was 16 ... I taught myself to play the intro the "Johnny B. Good " behind my neck ... and did so at a couple of gigs I play at in the 70's... but it was just the "intro " to Johnny B. Good ... which was just about 2 minutes long ... and that's all I could play! Stevie's playing was "Super Human" ... like his hands and fingers were part of his guitar! Stevie Ray was/is one of my favourite guitarists and was partly responsible for me becoming a musician, but it must be noted that without Hendrix and Albert King, two guitarists to which Stevie owed an ENORMOUS debt, there would not have been Stevie Ray as we knew him. Their achievements changed the guitar forever. Stevie was standing on the shoulders of GIANTS. Always remember the masters who went before.

All the members of Double Trouble were exceptionally talented. The bassist, Tommy Shannon, is one of the most talented Blues-Rock bassist. He pretty much invented the hard bass sound of Rock-Blues music of the late 60's into the 1990's.

Here's the thing, Stevie Ray fans genuinely love him. He showed respect to everyone that was ever around him. He had the sweetest demeanor and it was genuine. He was an old soul. He never thought he was a big deal. He was very humble. He worked very hard to make himself a better person and make the world a better place. He was pure love. Nothing but love. Right before his death, when he was finally starting to receive some recognition , he was told that he would be performing with B.B. King. He'd played with him before, but this was going to be just him & BB. He thought he was opening for him. When they got there to set up, he saw that his name was top billing & BB's name was 2nd. He got mad, and made them put BB's name on top. # RESPECT

Back in the earlier days of music artists were just that. They put their heart and souls into their music and playing sometimes for years without recognition. These days its not the artists but the studio technicians. Mixers and auto tune have replaced work at your craft musicians. Pretty faces and sellable packaging for the money and not the love of it. SRV would still play the same way if he was on a big stage or dimly lit dive bar stage.

Randy Rhoads is the one that made me pick up the guitar and learn. Found out, I could play.
Then one day, I heard ZZ Top. Old ZZ. BLUE JEAN BLUES got me into blues. So I took it all the way back to Robert Johnson.
Then one day, I heard Stevie and man! I couldn't rap my head around it. It was like this universal energy that some how he was able to tap into.
Let's just say, it's been 27 years since I picked up the guitar.
I'm still learning his stuff man

SRV must always be listened to and watched live. His greatness cannot be captured on studio recordings.
The licks he plays aren't revolutionary or new, as a matter of fact they were well known decades before SRV came along. What made SRV great was his intensity and sincerity in playing those licks. He was a true bluesman who revered all the great bluesmen who came before him.

There is an autobiography on him and his brother who plays the guitar also and was so popular to. When you get a chance watch it. It gives you insight that this man as a little boy dedicated himself to playing it so fantastic that it was an extension of himself. Awesome..... I watched him back in the day on TV but never got the opportunity to see him live. Thank God for these videos!!! RIP Stevie❤️

There was one SRV talent level. RIP. Voodoo Child was my favorite song. I too, came late to the knowing of him. I have to say... mind blowing. He played so effortlessly. Chrck out his brother ( also any amazing guitarist until Stevie came up behind him )

In an age of "artists" chosen for looks more than talent who cannot sing their own songs (which they have rarely written) live because their music is so enhanced by production, SRV is the pinnacle of artist who not only wrote their own songs but played instruments very well AND sang live like they sounded on CDs. Bob Seger is another like that, but SRV pushes it to heights nobody else could even attempt, playing blues guitar behind his back better than most ever could hope to normally. Rest in peace SRV, gone way too soon!

UNBELIEVABLE! I first watched some of Stevie Ray Vaughan a few days ago and he blew my mind with how he really part of the guitar. I found a documentary which said he was almost as good at 12 years old. His brother is all so a well known guitar player, just not in the same class as Stevie. I also found a couple of videos of Stevie with the "Duke" and with "BB King". I do not know how I missed Stevie when he was first putting out recordings, my teen age years ran through the 50"s and 60"s, I am guessing I was too busy to pay attention to music after that time- my loss!
I have enjoyed watching other people watch the Texas Flood video for the first time.

I had a chance to see him in '89 in Cincinnati with Jeff Beck. NEVER heard of SRV. When I heard of the 'Copter crash in Wisconsin I prayed it wasn't Clapton. 1995 I bought SRV live at Austin City Limits. BLEW MY MIND!!!! One of the regrets in my life...
