Watching this as I watch my mom sleeping. She is in a hospice and getting palliative care. What an honour and a priveledge it has been to be loved and cared for so deeply. Im going to miss her so much.❤

I met her years ago in Yarmouth,,Nova Scotia..she was part of the Sea feast concert.. I was coming out of my grandparents and she was walking alone with a bottle of water.. She was sweet and friendly and gave me her autograph..That night at the concert, she recognised me in the crowd and smiled and waved..A true Canadian,she's lovely, funny and extremely talented... Love her..❤

I had a good mother, I visited her at the cemetery today. I wish situations were different, but they are not. I love Jann's passion in this song, it reminds me of what and how my Mom supported and loved me.

Heard this song when I first moved away from home. Talked to my mom daily, her voice 'Kept me here' and my dad's silence and strength has made me cry many times as I respect the hell out of him. I hear this song now, remembering the cardboards masks and so-called miseries and realize how important life is.
My mom has passed now (cancer took her too early) and this song has even more meaning than before. It's incredibly hard to sing without welling up, but I love this song, it sums it all up!

I always played this song for my Mom every Mother’s Day. I continue to play it for her 2 1/2 years after her passing as this Mother’s Day of 2022 approaches. Remember to always tell your mother you love her.
Every night I lay on my bed as i'm getting ready to sleep and I realize how blessed I am to have a mother who will support me through anything. I work with at-risk youth and most of the time these kids come from broken homes or parents who have abandoned them because they'd rather satisfy their addiction. Every-time I see these kids I feel for them because I want them to experience the love and support I get from my mother.
Still love this song! A reminder to keep life simple as in the line "I like the color of my hair". Doesn't hurt that she's also Canadian!

This song is truly gut-wrenchingly real and hits home for me like no other. My mom is gone now, in 2013, but whenever I hear this I break down no matter where I am. And recently, I was picking up my 18 year old daughter from work, and this song came on. I had to pull over, and I wept telling my girl that my mother (her baba), displayed all the lyrics in this powerful, beautiful tribute to good moms everywhere. Thank you, Jann, for penning such an iconic tune. Thank you. xo

But also battled and beat a decade long opiate fentanyl addiction and have been thru more than most my age. This song has always rung true, grounds me and reminds me whats important. every time i listen to this song i instantly start crying because this is my moms favourite song. She told me that when she dies she wants me to listen to this song to remember her. It’s sad that one day while listening to this song I won’t have my mom anymore.

I've forever dedicated this song to my mother. She was my mom and dad growing up. And it was her that helped me be strong. Jann says it best. I'm sorry about your dad love.
I lost my mom back in June and it hurts me every day.. she spent a year and a half in the hospital..at one point she was doing a little better and I was going to bring her home in time for Christmas however she took a turn for the worse and ended up in ICU for the last 6 months of her life and in June 8 2022 passed in my arms. This is a beautiful song and makes me think of her. 🥺 God bless you all ❤️

My mother died almost 20 years a go. we had a lot of problems growing up in a family of 7 kids. My father-dealt daily with his mental illness. As much as I loved my mother on many levels, her anger made it so hard to accept my father. If ou are fortunate enough to live in a well happy balanced home, you should count our blessings...I Love this video and all of Jann Arden's music. She was the best singer/songwriter of a generation in Canada to many people.

This song rang true for me in every way since I heard it. Now, years later, I can't sing it without crying. Having lost my mom, I can't even choke through trying to sing that part and the strength of my father, it's even stronger now and I'm so much more amazed at him now that I was when I first heard this song for all the bravery he's shown in the last few years. The songs don't change...just what they mean to us and this one will always be one I hold dearest...thanks Jann! :)

I also think this song is underrated. Always has been, and likely because Jann Arden is Canadian and there is a "red line" in the music business between countries. I saw Jann sing this song in a book store in Michigan (on the other side of the "border"--at Borders books, in fact). She was perfect on every song. I got in the autograph line and told her a story about my daughter who listened to that song while in a difficult situation, each and every day until she succeeded. My daughter said, this is a song about what YOU have and who YOU are and what YOU want for yourself. It is life defining. Such a great, great song from a great singer/songwriter. Jann really appreciated my comment.

My mother was a narcist that blamed me for being born and destroying her chances of going to Australia. But Jann's line i have a good father is true in my case. At the end of her life she said i had become a good man. I love my Mom and Dad they di their best.

I am also one of the lucky ones. I have a good, great mother. She faced a lot of difficulty as me and my sisters grew up and it is because of her strength and will that we are the women we are today. My sister even has a child of her own.

Sometimes the hardest part of being a parent is watching them make the wrong choice. And too many mothers do not recognize that they ARE good mothers.
