@@qball2000able To clarify, disconnecting the battery is to reduce the possibly of injury to yourself. I don’t know that disconnecting the battery will guarantee that the airbag would not deploy if the sensor is hit. It’s something I’m still researching and if I find the answer, I’ll let you know.
To remove front door panel, do you need to remove the battery negative terminal to prevent side door airbags deploying?

Yes! Always a good practice to disconnect the battery when working on a vehicle.

Door pocket should be larger. Seems like toyota shorten length of pocket from pervious models
I think you are correct. My 2006 has a pocket that runs the length of the door. But it’s very narrow and not good for much.
