    This tutorial was fantastic. I see many vues with bad transmissions for cheap. I own one but it's a 5 speed manual. I am going to buy a used transmission just to see if I can repair it. Maybe then I can buy one that needs a trans. Thanks a lot. I really enjoyed the whole thing even if I finished watching it after 1 am

    I should mention that the socket I bought might be wrong. I watched the video again, and found I measured the wrong end. I still need to remove the covers and fit the socket, tomorrow (Fri), to see if it fits the correct end - which Q3 demonstrates!.
    Many apologies!
    I also caught that I did not remove the speed sensor... hoping it was not damaged.
    What is the sensor on the primary variator - the black thing? Could that need replacing? I may could add such notes to an update compilation, if I get th his all done, and have time to learn how?
    Looking forward to the drill bit pin fix!
    This is all SO EXCITING! I almost don't care if I lose money... LOL

      Sam Halabi Hello, I don't understand your question,"POST THE CARS SIMILAR TRANSMISSION". Do your vehicle have a CVT in it?

    • @thisisyourtransmission
      @thisisyourtransmission  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sam Halabi Oh, now I know what you mean. I said that I would probably post the vehicles that have this similar transmission in it. Ok, If you are looking for parts, you can find the parts on ebay. Not all Saturn vues have this transmission in it. You would have to take the vin number of the vehicle in question and contact the dealer to see if it has a cvt in it if you cannot tell by looking at it. This transmission is in opel (which is in Europe) .In America it is in the Saturn Vue and the Saturn Ion Quad Coupe.

    Hello, again, Questioning3.
    I want to share an amazing, easy way to pop the oil pump out, in on wack! LOL
    I can't believe this worked. In fact, I did not realize it had at first; but, the pump was out with one pull on a long crowbar. I put the hook of that end on the case next to the pump, then with the tip under the center spline, I gave it a quick wack, and the darn thing popped right up. I had tried smaller bars, but the case just spins around, hard to control. Don't know how much that helped; but, I spent little effort, and almost no time this way!
    I don't see anything wrong. There were a couple of sand dunes of steel from something worn. There is no wear on the steal nor the clutches. I need to tear down the planetaries yet. They look solid though, unless the bearings are ground down?
    Thank you, for everything!
    Gianni Joseph

    I just watch your video on the Saturn transmission rebuilding.My 2003 want change gear but one time and stuck in high gear. Have any suggestions I can try. Thanks.

      +Don Woodberry Sorry, but I cannot answer questions like this. When there is a problem, there is a diagnostic procedure to follow. First, have the vehicle scan for codes to see what the computer is trying to tell you. Then, you go to the next step.

    Thank you for taking the time to make these videos...I watch all of them...I have 2003 Saturn vue 2.2l FWD. I wonder if you can answer why the car stops driving when it heats up. I'll open the transmission and with your video, hopefully, it'll help me figure it out. Also I wonder if I have any question can I contact you?

      Sam Halabi Hello, is your vehicle making any noises when you start it? Also, you cannot post a response at any time. I always check my messages. I will help you in anyway that I can. How many miles is on your vehicle?

    I just finished rebuilding my transmission so thank you for posting your video....it was a great help to me! How many quarters of transmission fluid does the Saturn take? Do I need to add Lucas Transmission Fix or do I need to add something else?

    • @thisisyourtransmission
      @thisisyourtransmission  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sam Halabi Hello, I sent you a message on how to check if you have the right amount of fluid. An empty transmission with an empty torque converter will probably take about 8 qts. However, check the fluid like I told you.

      questioning3 don't add lucas just add cvt fluid

      This is all you need to repair it. look at the parts that I show that go bad and also do the modifications. How many miles are on your vehicle?

    I am in afinancial bind, and the transmission on my 2003 broke. So i decided to do it on my own. Your videos is exactly what i needed. My belt broke and is a mess inside my transmission. Question, i have 135k miles. Is it normal tare and ware?

    • @thisisyourtransmission
      @thisisyourtransmission  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Antonio Garcia Ok, There is one thing that I don't do and that is entertain fantasies, I fix problems. If your belt broke, then time to try to fix the transmission. Make sure the sheaves are not rough, the sheaves are the area that squeeze the belt. You have to take everything out to get every part of the belt out. On this transmission, anything over 100,000 miles is ware and tear.

    can anybody tell me where the speed sensor for a 2003 automatic 2 wheel drive 2.2 Saturn Vue CVT transmission

    • @thisisyourtransmission
      @thisisyourtransmission  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a speed sensor where the valve body is. However, the valvebody has to come out to get to it.

    You should make a pulley with 2 welded vise grips on each end to help remove that pump. Just an Idea to help alleviate that frustration

      Julio Parissi Hmmm, I will consider this advise. Thank you

    I am confused, about the custom rig to squeeze the (variator). Is there a hose clamp big enough to work, cheap? I'm not sure how this works... is there a video of that? LOL WHAT NOW, right? Does it push down on the shaft, to cause it to hatch (open)? Could we cut a hole in a board and bolt it in there - easier? ...then improvise a lever, or strut spring compressors?
    Additionally, you did not tear it down. How do we check it for function, and do the drill bit/pin fix to it? You said you "cut it open", mean one from the past? I guess the spring is very strong, and very dangerous to mess with. You did say, there is only a spring and a ¿ in there... so, if it works, no worries?
    Apologies for the dump. You can't hit it all for us! LOL We need to just do it! ..at some point, Go for it!

      giovanni joseph, giovanni joseph, giovanni joseph, I only put the pins in the drive pulley (the smaller of the two). It seems to be the weak link in cvts. The clamp I use is a split pipe clamp. However, check Ron O's section. He made something out of wood to raise the pulleys.

      The problem I believe that you are having is a bearing issue. If the bearing is bad the input shaft will be damaged. When transmission fluid is cold, it is thick and the thickness can take up clearance. However, when the fluid gets hot it becomes thin and then the clearance will be too great which will not apply the clutches causing them to slip. My belief is that the forward clutches are bad, the input shaft and the planetary assembly and the little bearing that hide inside of the planetary assembly. In other words, you may have to change the whole primary variator assembly.
