Thanks! Lots of room for improvement from me on videos, but I appreciate it. The mod is really worth it, friends and I like playing with Rival, but with the ammo costs I am slowly going to upgrade 10 or so simple blasters to speeds over 100 so we can use Adventure Force waffles. I suggest if you do this mod, also doing this trigger fix from Walcom S7 - th-cam.com/video/3dBMZ6mDB8Y/w-d-xo.html - I just did it, using a bit of plastic from a dollar store paint scraper and it is way better.
I also have two other heavier springs to try, and plan to post some comparisons. Always a balance, I want all of my friends, no matter their strength, to be able to prime them :)
These things are tons of fun brand new, either for shooting around or for a nerf war! I own a Nexus Pro and the performance on this is no where near that, but hey it's definitely still one of the cheapest and best stock blasters out there, tons of mod parts for it!
Cool! Turns out the small air soft chrono I used here was boosting my numbers, with a better chrono that I see most using, I’m getting high 120’s off a 7kg spring. Still quite happy with that!
That was my plan, ha. I have 6 or 7 of them. Only thing is priming gets dicey for kids unless they’re a little older even at 7KG. Some 13 year olds at a party I ran were really liking two of these I had upgraded though! I ran it at a party for a pal with two 18 clips and it last longer than I was usually alive :P
The camera does not do justice to the difference in velocity and power. The raw force of the gun once the spring has been put in is ridiculous. (now I have a reason to use googles when I have a Nerf war). Great video.

@@lvl18abilities best is building a brass Breech, but any short dart kit is good, try not to get worker plastic one but if that's the only one u can get or within ur budget it works pretty well,u also need a stronger spring like 7kg n abv to get max potential
7KG will last. I recommend leaving in the air restrictor, and you might want to change the catch spring (if you buy it from worker it usually comes with one)
I recommend making your own padded plunger head out of felt or adhesive foam. This will not only increase longevity, but make the blaster quieter. Worker's 7K spring kit (and most of their pusher breech kits) also comes with rubber plunger braces and padding.
I bought the worker kit that comes with the 7kg spring a plastic thing that helps sealing the plunger tube and a new o-ring and it doesn't come close to 120 fps, no idea why :/
I put a 7kg worker kit into my Delta Trooper last summer. It also came with a couple of pads, as well as a new catch spring which is nice because other kits dont seem to have anything else other than a spring and maybe a catch. While the internals of Delta Trooper do seem a little sturdier than in the Retaliator, even with the pads installed it feels like the thing is going to grenaid. I ended up using the stock catch spring because the one I got was deformed, but unlike the Retaliator I had no issues catching. Seems to fire nearly twice as far which was a pleasant surprise, especially since mine had a good stock spring to begin with. Thank you for posting a video on this very doable mod that can actually help people reach their #sniperstatus.
Thank you! That’s awesome! I had good luck with my modded retaliators catching, they are all very dependable, but only up to 7KG. A 9kg I think you need to start getting into metal catches etc.
So I am currently modifying a Retaliator with a 9kg spring and metal catch from OutOfDarts. However, every time I try to prime it, it doesn't stay primed, it just leaps back to the original position and doesn't prime and fire. How do I fix this?
I found 9kg rough in a retaliator but if I had to guess you might have the catch in backwards or maybe something is not set right. If all else fails put the original spring in and see if that catches :)
I bought the same 7kg spring pack and it came with the spring for the catch but it still won’t catch and when I pull back the priming just flys back forward when I let go
When installing a higher spring load it is usually necessary to install a heavier catch spring as well. I'd recommend spending an extra $5 for a metal catch which itself comes with a heavier catch spring anyway. This will ensure longevity and enable you to upgrade to even higher spring loads in the future.
I have both a rampage and a retaliator. Which do you reccomend I throw 7kg in? (Preferably the one that has less hiccups in installation in performance.) I'm getting it ready for HvZ.
I will say HvZ doesn’t require much for performance but I’m sure you are familiar! Retaliator was easier; but the rampage with a grip prime might be nicer for all day!
Breech-back (the skinny part with the dart tooth attached to the bolt sled with the metal pin) to front-of-piston O-ring: McMasterCarr #9452K21 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD, 1/16" thickness. Plunger (the bigger of the two O-rings, on the actual plunger itself): McMasterCarr #9452K29 3/4" ID, 1" OD, 1/8" thickness.

@@maritimefoam hi, thanks for responding so fast, just another question, will the recon mk3 break if I install just the 7kg spring and the upgraded catch spring? I’ve heard that the recon mk2 or 3 has weaker internals than the retaliator
Once you mod no guarantees. Maybe over time, though 7KG isn’t insanely heavy. I have about 8 Retaliators that I have thrifted for 6-8 dollars each. If you’re really worried I’d just keep an eye out for a spare for internal replacement parts :)
@@spaynekingking7359 you’re very welcome. The nice thing is that once you get into modding long enough everything feels fixable :) I would guess you could use it a lot with a 7KG no issue, mines fired a few hundred times (not super high numbers I know but I have a lot of stuff haha)
Any spring upgrade will _eventually_ break the catch of a retaliator or (especially) a recon mkii (which has an ABS catch that is weaker than the delrin catch of the retaliator)
