I will say that the unit looks very good in "line of battle"(@4:12). The base flocking looks good, and its a fine looking group. Can I ask who made the figures? They look like the Blue Moon 18mm? My husbands gaming group is getting back into ACW, and they are looking at Blue Moon 18mm, as it is a "complete" line. My husband was an old time Johnny Reb player, and at one time, he had over 1700 15mm figures painted for that system. He had figures from Old Glory(His favorite), Stone Mountain, Peter Pig, Musket Miniatures and a few other companies figures. He said He wants to stick to one company, This time around.
Yup, they are indeed Blue Moon 18mm. I do like Old Glory as well. I have a mix with the majority being Blue Moon at the moment. Thanks again for the critiques. I'll be sure to make those changes the next time I paint some ACW.
Are those the Blue Moon 15/18mm figures? My husband, John, is considering starting ACW again(he belonged to a 15mm acw club 25 years ago. Each member had a corp. And the plan was to refight the battle of Gettysburg, using JR3. My husband had the confederate 3rd corp. AP Hills Corp.). Back then, John's 15mm acw corp contained many different manufacturers figures. This time around, he wants to use only Blue Moon 15/18mm figures.
YUP! These are indeed Bluemoon that I purchased here www.oldgloryminiatures.com/products.asp?cat=662 I have also been a big fan of Old Glory 15's. www.oldglory15s.com/American-Civil-War_c341.htm That sounds like a fantastic project. Love the idea of each member having a Corp. very cool.
@Grant Wilson Well, is it too much to look something up, these days? Mean to say, I'm sorry for the double post, and I certainly was'nt saying his paint work was legit shit. But he is'nt painting space marines...
@Grant Wilson And I look at these "painting guides", because I have a painting service(12 years on June 20th). And while I certainly know what color a union Haversack is, I'm quite sure new painters take a look and either get confused or paint things wrong.
I think people get too caught up in army regulations. Soldiers would get issued a tarred haversack, but after some wear and tear, acquire a plain linen one or even homespun ones from back home. The rebs would have had every darn thing you can think of, but many black tarred ones they would acquire from the battlefield, just as they did brogans whenever possible. The only thing I would critique is that the dark blue used here is too light for army issue. Issue were very dark but the vegetable dyes used during the period would fade over time to a non-uniform indigo/purplish color. Same with the rebs. Their grays never matched each other and also faded over time to an off-white almost. My point is, relax and allow for a little variation. Oh, same with canteen covers by the way. They get torn off and replaced with whatever, so relax on those too. Most canteen covers were brown, sky, or dark blue (or silver if not replaced) for that reason.
@@historicalwargamers6420 The canteen strap is white for both union and confederate. It was not my intent to snark your paint work. I have a painting service, and I am always on the lookout to steal other painters work.

Canteen covers wer'nt brown. They were light or dark blue, tan or buff, or any shade of gray.
army regulations called for brow covers. light blue was a new york thing.

These are 20x20mm
How long did all of those seem at the end take?

Oh, and the Havery Sacks were white for the Rebs, but BLACK for the Union.
Research, brother.

Thumbs up!
For Union soldiers, the haversack is BLACK. Confederates had WHITE haversacks.
Nice! Makes it even easier!

@@shirleylyn11 No I appreciate the feedback! the white canteen strap is I guess what fooled me into painting the haversack white. Thanks again
