Thanks very good info and nice work . Great
Thanks some good info
Nice! What scale?
These are 1/72c scale?
They are 28mm. From Warlord games.
Clever and very nicely done!
Great idea, thanks for sharing!
Really great job and a useful video. One minor fault; Roman shields were not metal they were made of wood. So the backs of the shield should be painted brown but that might be quite tricky to get the paint brush into.
Thanks! Ya good catch. I thought I'd leave it silver just to speed things up and hopefully not notice it much :)
@@historicalwargamers6420 yeah it's only a minor thing. Doesn't take away from the usefulness of the video.
Just getting into war gaming just wondering how do you make the flags
Thats great! These ones I googled and printed out. I have also ordered form GMB as well. they make great flags. gmbdesigns.com/
You got a lot done that year.
Outstanding
Très bon travail, merci pour la vidéo 😊
Awesome job
How can i apply the sticker on the shield? Thank you
What is the brand of the figures?
Nice job.
I just watched it and i dont know why as i dont paint lol,,but i stayed on because of the music,,it was soothing cheers my friend
Simple and effective! This is great!
I will say that the unit looks very good in "line of battle"(@4:12). The base flocking looks good, and its a fine looking group. Can I ask who made the figures? They look like the Blue Moon 18mm? My husbands gaming group is getting back into ACW, and they are looking at Blue Moon 18mm, as it is a "complete" line. My husband was an old time Johnny Reb player, and at one time, he had over 1700 15mm figures painted for that system. He had figures from Old Glory(His favorite), Stone Mountain, Peter Pig, Musket Miniatures and a few other companies figures. He said He wants to stick to one company, This time around.
Yup, they are indeed Blue Moon 18mm. I do like Old Glory as well. I have a mix with the majority being Blue Moon at the moment. Thanks again for the critiques. I'll be sure to make those changes the next time I paint some ACW.
Oh, and the Havery Sacks were white for the Rebs, but BLACK for the Union. Research, brother.
@Grant Wilson Well, is it too much to look something up, these days? Mean to say, I'm sorry for the double post, and I certainly was'nt saying his paint work was legit shit. But he is'nt painting space marines...
@Grant Wilson And I look at these "painting guides", because I have a painting service(12 years on June 20th). And while I certainly know what color a union Haversack is, I'm quite sure new painters take a look and either get confused or paint things wrong.
I think people get too caught up in army regulations. Soldiers would get issued a tarred haversack, but after some wear and tear, acquire a plain linen one or even homespun ones from back home. The rebs would have had every darn thing you can think of, but many black tarred ones they would acquire from the battlefield, just as they did brogans whenever possible. The only thing I would critique is that the dark blue used here is too light for army issue. Issue were very dark but the vegetable dyes used during the period would fade over time to a non-uniform indigo/purplish color. Same with the rebs. Their grays never matched each other and also faded over time to an off-white almost. My point is, relax and allow for a little variation. Oh, same with canteen covers by the way. They get torn off and replaced with whatever, so relax on those too. Most canteen covers were brown, sky, or dark blue (or silver if not replaced) for that reason.
Canteen covers wer'nt brown. They were light or dark blue, tan or buff, or any shade of gray.
army regulations called for brow covers. light blue was a new york thing.
you make it look too easy
Nice!
Interesting to see how others do it. Pity I didn't see this first because I took forever when I painted about 300 of them and this might have helped make it quicker. Incidentally, for those about to paint their first Prussian Seven Years War figures, I recommend Vallejo DARK Prussian Blue and not simply the Prussian Blue (you could use that for highlighting if you wish). Also, the leather slings for Prussian muskets were varnished a dark red and not white (plus, if it is of any interest, I used plain red instead of scarlet for the facings). I found the Osprey uniform guides and the kronoskaf.com website invaluable for uniform details of all of the participating nations.
Thanks so much for the tips. Ya kronoskaf.com is a great resource for sure.
sorry to be so off topic but does any of you know a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Musa Tripp instablaster =)
@Noel Enoch thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Noel Enoch it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D Thank you so much you really help me out :D
Where are the great miniature tutorials?
Thanks for the video, very helpful!
Good to hear. Glad it was of some use.
Very good.
Are those the Blue Moon 15/18mm figures? My husband, John, is considering starting ACW again(he belonged to a 15mm acw club 25 years ago. Each member had a corp. And the plan was to refight the battle of Gettysburg, using JR3. My husband had the confederate 3rd corp. AP Hills Corp.). Back then, John's 15mm acw corp contained many different manufacturers figures. This time around, he wants to use only Blue Moon 15/18mm figures.
YUP! These are indeed Bluemoon that I purchased here www.oldgloryminiatures.com/products.asp?cat=662 I have also been a big fan of Old Glory 15's. www.oldglory15s.com/American-Civil-War_c341.htm That sounds like a fantastic project. Love the idea of each member having a Corp. very cool.
For Union soldiers, the haversack is BLACK. Confederates had WHITE haversacks.
Nice! Makes it even easier!
@@historicalwargamers6420 The canteen strap is white for both union and confederate. It was not my intent to snark your paint work. I have a painting service, and I am always on the lookout to steal other painters work.
@@shirleylyn11 No I appreciate the feedback! the white canteen strap is I guess what fooled me into painting the haversack white. Thanks again
It’s legionary not legionnaire but nice job.
Thanks
Very good work!
Great thanks i just bought a box of these. I will be doing an army of them eventually.
Where do you get those stickers that go on the legionaries scutum?
They came with the box of plastic Warlord Games Romans
what size bases did you use
These are 20x20mm
Nice job and great looking Prussians!
Thumbs up!
Wow, simply amazing and wasn't very complicated in your technique, the results are simply awesome, well done.

Excellent work!

Great video. BB
That is a great run around the paint bench, have subscribed, all the best Garry
Great figures
Simple with excellent results.
Thank you sir! Ya it works really well for me.
Great looking stuff, and so simple! Which manufacturer are the miniatures, if you don't mind me asking?
Glad you like em! The figures are from Warlord games.
Thanks a lot. :D I should have recognized them from those nifty shield decals! The unit looks amazing once they're all based and ranked up.
Thanks again man! Ya I think it works quite well for quickly getting them ready for the tabletop. Love your channel BTW
How long did all of those seem at the end take?
I did that whole unit over a weekend at a leisurely pace.
Nice, also what brand is that?
