You must consider that all the trees growing weren't there 160 years ago. Even the creek that was shown, wasn't cut as deep as it is today. You will have to imagine the area was opened up a lot more. The overgrowth closes the area up fairly well. The topography might be the same for the most part. But the modern trees change the look.
I disagree about the look. The land was not being farmed at the time. I LIVE in Northwest Florida and the land and trees are about the same away.from the coastal areas. (Note: if Hollywood did a film of the battle,,it would have been shot in a desert somewhere!) Look at those Dogwoods, though! (The trees with white flowers) it's probably about the same, really pretty but DEADLY. So sad. Brave MEN ALL!😢 Check out the Olustee battlefield in N.Florida. not too far away from this place and just loaded up with Palmetto. THOSE probably weren't there during that battle. Great video. We got to NEVER forget OUR HISTORY!❤
That was some awesome History, thanks for sharing this. I would like to come visit this site sometime. I enjoy all of your videos 👏🏻 I have built several front door ramps to people’s homes and I always put down roofing shingles for traction❤
Kolbs Farm, Pickett's Mill, New Hope, & Dallas are all often overlooked! Appreciate the vid. Keep it up. Subscribed! My G x 4 grandad and his father (5) fought all through the campaign. They had a farm on Peachtree Creek that was destroyed during the battle. Surrendered with Johnson in NC.
We must do all we can to keep history alive . They shure don't teach much of it in school these days. My kin fought in the border war with Ks.i love to get off the beaten path as much as I can . Thanks for checking out my channel 😀
I understand that this is one of the best reserved battlefields in the US. Attacking a battlefield in the dark during the CW, without radios or night vision was a bad idea. Nice cabin, I like the dove tails.
HEY THERE! I AM A DEEP SOUTHERN GEORGIA COUNTRY-FRIED REDNECK. GLAD TO SEE YOU'RE DOING A DOCUMENTARY ON THIS PLACE! I LEARNED THE HISTORY ON IT AND TOOK LOTS OF PICTURES WHEN I WAS OUT THERE BUT I'M ALSO A HISTORY FREAK AND THAT'S WHY I WENT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. LOL. I THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR DOING THIS HISTORY VIDEO OF MY BELOVED STATE OF GEORGIA! GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE!!!🙏😇

Sine times the simplest ideas are the best
That's a chameleon Bull frog. Right.?
The woods are a bad place to be if you're under cannon fire. Cannons just out side the tree line wood devastate a attacking force.
