10:42 I cry ;( In all seriousness though, animating for this game was definitely an adventure that had its ups and downs. But seeing a new community being formed around this goofy overpriced game for kids for the purposes in speedrunning has helped it feel like it was worth working on the game. Speedrunning other games is something I do a lot myself so I know the mindset around it. I may never speedrun this game myself, but I'm glad lots of people are finding joy in doing so themselves.
First Tridashie and now you Littleshy?...seems like these mlp video game speedrun vids just keep getting more popular! but it's always good to see a new vid from you Littleshy! i love "A Maretime Bay Adventure!"
Great stuff! I love how you can explain a thing going on in a sub-community very clearly, explaining many little details in an interesting way. May not play the game, but I am glad it got traction this way.
I was very excited for this video! I knew this was gonna become one after those twitch lives, just had those video material vibes, as always, great video LittleshyFiM!
A lot of people are starting to speedrun the game and despite the fact that I watched a lot of different speedrun, it is still entertaining to see somebody else try it. Nice video Littleshy and continue the great work.
Great video! It's been super amazing to see how far the time and strategies used in this run have progressed ever since it released last year. I'm excited to see if/when any future glitches or routes are found that can potentially improve the current WR! 💯
I will never play this game, but this is all very interesting information! How did you get the hitboxes to show by the way? Are those 3D objects edited into the footage or did someone mod the game to make them show?
If you didn't notice, you don't really experience the game in the speedrun, so your enjoyment of the game itself isn't actually that relevant, funny enough.
The part that made it interesting to speedrun (for me anyway) was the movement system. It's just feels so different compared to most games and it does slightly use momentum which is always fun when trying to go fast and break things. Outside of that, yea there isn't really anything else to the game.
Another great video! It's really cool to see some bigger names pick up this run, attracting a bunch of new people to the community! (Also sorry that I decided to come back to running this game and bump you down the board right as you were making this video lol)
I love how the names for various speed running skips and tactics for this game are about as creative as biologists trying to come up with scientific names for newly discovered species.
$40 just to run around Maritime Bay!? Sheesh! Fun video though. It's cool to see the mechanics behind what you were doing. Like making the walls visible.
as a speedrunner who's been watching your content for years, this was genuinely vry cool to watch and makes me wanna try out the run for myself - great vid!
Speedrunning child games is my passion. Seriouly tho, that this game is slowly earning a Speedrun scene is both funny and cool, and I like how you offer pretty good fun facts to either skip or glitch the game (Roller Sunny is basically a Pegasus with no wings) And, this game did something than TYT or MYM will probably never do. Make Sprout still relevant through the entirety of the story. This is the real sequel to A New Generation.
This game has given me lifelong PTSD. Bunnies now terrify me to no end. I can never go to the petting zoo for fear of being surrounded by the rabbits, softlocked for all eternity. My life is ruined. 10/10 speedgame, run it.
I've seen a couple of speed run breakdowns before, but I haven't seen one for a 3D platformer and the runner shows all the invisible walls and collision boxes. Why are the boxes so freaking high? This was really fun and, hey, you could even submit it for a GDQ marathon. Maybe for the "Silly Block" for the summer event?
It's crazy how many more glitches and hitbox exploits people have found, I haven't kept up with the speed running of this game since my first few runs (which was back when there was only really the ash skip, so you still had to play through most of the game normally,) so I haven't seen any of these other glitches until I watched your run and this. This really makes me want to get back into it! Is there a discord or something for this now or is it still just kinda all over the place? Also what tools allowed you to access the freecam and hitboxes? Also never thought I'd appear in a littleshy video so thank you for including my reply!
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for your contribution to the run! The Discord should be linked on the Speedrun.com page. It's there that I found the mod for freecam/collider view pinned in #amba-general.
There's one skip that could save a lot of time if someone figures out how to do it. I'm not sure if it's even possible at all in any way. In the section where you have to collect the carrots for Hitch the entrance to the town is blocked by boxes. However, there is an active trigger area just beyond that lets you continue into town if you manage to get to it somehow. Would essentially skip the entire first section with Hitch.
This is the parkour pony platforming action this fandom needed for a decade now. I expect the world record competition to only get more fierce after all the inspiration from here...
i preordered this game and played it it day it came out. i completeed it in 2 hours lol. but it def needed more time in the oven, it was a little half-baked lol
Sounds like a a lot of coyote jumping. Wonder what the frame window is on it in this game. I don't want to pay for it to test it out, but it looked "fairly" lenient
This was a lot of fun to watch, great job as always. Personally don't own the game myself, might take a look if there's a decent sale though sometime. Do you have advice on what to do if a horde of rabbits appears outside my house?
Game was pretty cheap in my region since my coin devalues faster than the companies bother to change my regional price. I really liked it, I agree that it should be cheaper for everyone else though
Check the Speedrun link in the description and consider joining the community Discord server for details, but in short, yes! Switch and other consoles are accepted and they even have their own dedicated category. You're going to want the PC version to use Livesplit or to be particularly competitive though.
It's more so $40 for an hourish long game (meaning you can easily 100% and still get a refund.) Speedrunning it does add more value to it but even then it's still waaaay overpriced. Also there's a lot of games that can be beaten very quickly, take Elden Ring ($60) for an example, the any% speedruns for that is around 3 minutes.
10:42 I cry ;(

No way, YOU worked on this? I always thought they should just hire you. So glad to see that did!

Hurray! My random glitch through the world made it on the video! How I know I'll have to learn to speedrun this!

Someone made a mod to reveal colliders, triggers, and enable freecam!
I can't find the game interesting enough to speed run it, so I don't understand how everyone else can, still very impressive!
If you didn't notice, you don't really experience the game in the speedrun, so your enjoyment of the game itself isn't actually that relevant, funny enough.
If something can be timed, _someone_ will speedrun it. There are even _pencil sharpening_ speedruns--and highly competitive ones, at that.

Awesome video! Loved seeing you get into this game, but this does mean I have to beat your time now. Sorry I don't make the rules
This would've been a lot funnier if you were one of the board mods, so you were making the rules

So many big names in the brony community have speedrun this game, I'm surprised no one's made a Totally Legit animation of it yet.
