Randy, this was always my favorite episode of yours just because it made me realize that if I wanted an elk that bad I had always be ready for a suck fest. That has been my mentality for my first few years of elk hunting. Still haven’t been successful but we’re getting closer every year. Thanks for the inspiration.
Been there!! I talked myself out of so many elk when I lived in CO because I hunted alone. Use to see them in a deep canyon like the one you showed, harvested one down there once and said I'm never doing that again without help. My knees just couldn't take it.
Hope Howa offers more stainless rifles again. All these makers are spraying cerakote/other coatings on them and selling them as high as stainless was or sometimes more, as if its the same as stainless. I do see they do some 6.5 creedmoors, and 308s in stainless, but that might be about it now.
@@working_to_hunt I'm not saying it doesn't help, I'm saying cost wise, a coating does not equate to stainless, also a coating does nothing for bore. Unless they start offering nitride, which I'm surprised in bolt guns I'm not seeing yet.
@@working_to_hunt Cerakote doesn't protect the inside of your barrel. What barrel rust are you talking about? You have a cerakote that "doesn't rust" but in the same environment you get rust on your stainless barrels?
Two shots to take it down? Then you let all that meat go to waste. Not very responsible. People look at this and come away with a bad view of hunters. Maybe keep your videos to yourself. I certainly didn't enjoy this trophy hunt.
Clearly you don't know Colorado hunting regulations (all four quarters, back straps, and tenderloins MUST be harvested from game/elk). Randy walking out with only the antlers in this video does not tell the whole story.
Good idea on this recap. Good vid
Appreciate it!
Thanks for the content Randy! Are you going to be at the Portland sportsman show this year? My son and I are going to be there Saturday.

Thanks for the watch! It's hard work!
Good job
Thanks!

My cerakoted weapons do not rust in Alaska, all of my stainless do. Therefore cerakote is a higher value option.
