At a time where news and media move fast and carry intentionally scary and messages to the public, it is vital that the truth comes across in way that is understood. This talk from Jo browning is a must-hear message for all scientists, journalists and communicators. Well done Jo!

I am a scientist and do believe scientific information must be communicated to society, clearly and professionally. Could not agree more with the message of this video!

A powerful message about how to make messages powerful. Filshie-Browning is so clear and spot on here. This is a TED talk that should be viewed on Day 1 in every science degree, and Day 2, and Day 3…..

Great talk on how to communicate scientific findings to everyday people. Particularly relevant in times where fear-mongering and fake news are widespread. Let the scientists do the talking!

Thanks so much! So important to make sure that those who understand the complexity and nuances are involved in shaping the communications!

Great talk Jo and so relevant in such a 'noisy' world. The PHD is an excellent tool for creating clear and meaningful science communications. Thank you!

Brilliant talk. There’s so much misinformation out there and it can be so dangerous to people’s health. A critical topic.

Thanks so much. You are right. The World Health Organisation calls this an Infodemic. There is so much misinformation about science in the public discourse. It's more important than ever for scientists to be involved actively in the communication of their work.

Fantastic talk, so true that the way information is presented has a huge impact on how it is received.

Incredible presentation and tremendously relevant to the issues of today. 👏🏼🙌🏼 As a nutritionist I constantly have clients approaching me with scares about the food they eat or don’t or if they should take the new miracle drug or method out on the market. If scientist knew how to properly convey the truth in a simple way (the PHD way) then the voices of the salesman selling the snack-oils would not over power them. Scientist would gain the trust they so deserve and we all would be healthier for it. 💛

A great talk, and it couldn’t be more relevant than ever in today’s world. Super important for the individual to understand how they are being communicated to and in what context, as well as how organisations can
Communicate better with patients. Also great insight into how media can sensationalise and creates a story from something fairly inoccuous…

I had no idea this was a job until very recently... honestly, going to school for this soon. I have researched on my own about cancer and hiv for about a decade. Reading articles about actual science was very informative 👌 it's very frustrating taking time to read an article about people's opinions that are not backed up by facts, studies, testimonies, etc... people's opinions are cool on certain things but when I'm specifically looking for hard facts or real reactions, opinions are a waste of reading. It might sound nice but it was a waste of time reading. Now I've been interested in researching autism and carnivore diet. Really cool stuff.
