Comparing the Preservation of the Quran & Hadith | Dr. Shabir Ally

  • Muslims rely on the Quran and Hadith as the primary sources of Islamic law. Dr. Shabir Ally compares the Quran and Hadith in terms of authenticity and preservation. He says that very early on, in the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), there was an emphasis on preserving the Quran, with people memorizing and writing it, and it was compiled into a book a couple of years after the Prophet's death. The Hadith was compiled later and was subject to the whims and interests of narrators, despite the scrutiny and care that scholars exercised in order to differentiate between the genuine and the forged.

I think his opinion is a more balanced position than other preachers who claim they are scholars. Yes, we know hadith was compiled long after the prophet died, and yet, some scholars uphold and make hadith's status higher than His scripture. Some people even say, "if you doubt the book of hadith, then you're a kafiir and become nonmuslim"...which is absolute nonsense.

If the truth to you means following orientalist and their works then he is telling the truth, but not the full truth because the same scholars who did the academic research to tell you that hadiths were subject to the whims and desires of people also concluded that the quran was no different. But he only speaks half of what you consider truth while relying on the same hadith that he is calling corrupt to explain away the difference in the sanna manuscript.
      The definition of doublethink.
And this shows that what this man says isn't about following the truth it is to serve his plan to liberalize Islam and muslim minds. Nothing more.
According to the orientalist scholars the quran was only compiled 200 years after the death of Muhammed, the problem is these works were very influential before the Birmingham manuscript and the sanna manuscript, which means their methodology is wrong. And that means their conclusions on the authenticity of hadith is also likely to be wrong. The worst thing is the hadith actually tells us all about the differences that we find in the sanna manuscript. And very accurately as well, let's say hadith is a bunch of ballony then you are following a corrupt quran and you need to go follow the sanna quran because it is the oldest.
      And there are differences.
It really is a package deal, take both or throw away both, maybe go back to the earliest manuscripts and say that the muslims got it wrong for 1400 years.
And the nonsense that he says about how early muslim didn't care avout the wording of the quran and only cared about the meaning is laughable if they didn't care about it why the hell were their memorizers and why did people who did not know how to make paper go through the very expensive trouble of finding suitable materials to write it down on.
He really is using a "club" to attack hadith with and then hiding behind hadith to protect the quran from that same club.

A commonly stated argument by those who wish to raise traditional hearsay/ahadith to divine-status level is that its compilation was the same as The Quran.
Is that really true? Lets look at the simple and obvious facts...
    The Quran = God's Word
    Ahadith = man's word
    The Quran = 100% fact/truth/perfect
Ahadith = mix of truth and falsehood (hence weak and strong hadith)
The Quran = recorded under the DIRECT supervision of prophet Muhammad
Ahadith = not recorded under the DIRECT supervision of prophet Muhammad
The Quran = written AND memorised word for word as soon as it was transmitted
Ahadith = no-one ever claimed to record and memorise ahadith word for word as soon as it was transmitted
The Quran = protected explicitly by God Himself as stated in The Quran
Ahadith = no such explicit protection stated
The Quran = no Muslim doubts its credibility
Ahadith = each sect has its own versions, weak & strong ones etc
The Quran = in-built verification mechanism, e.g. challenges others to find inconsistancy, bring a chapter like it etc.
Ahadith = no such in-built mechanism, full of inconsistancies etc.

      @i4niable ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@bngr_bngr No dear.. Quran is the mercy and blessing of Allah the one and only God...Quran is the reminder that there is purpose in creation of life and death. In fact everything is created with a purpose.
The crux of Quran message " Do not associate partners with Allah"...what does it mean?. .It means we should follow Quran only as the criteria between right and wrong where it is SPECIFIC in its guidence be it faith, ethics, rights and obligations, family affairs, economy, charity and welfare, politics, justice, society ..the list goes on for all spheres of human life.
It WARNS us that if we associate partners with Allah and choose to follow devil be it satan the arch enemy, people (who may be politically or financially motivated) or blindly follow our own desires then the outcome would be corruption and injustice in the society.
So Quran liberates us from all false and corrupt beliefs practices notions and philosophies.
It urges humans to follow the straight path of Allah and do not go astray. But if we make mistakes and go astray for any reason we can repent sincerely and continue our journey of life staying on the course.
According to Quran this short and temporary life is a test and we all have to pass this test going through all sorts of challenges without associating partners with Allah, practicing righteous deeds with character, spread the word of the truth and face the sufferings, hardships and temptations with patience and fortitude.
      For life it is temporary.
The reward of success in the test of this short and temporary life is the real life...which is the eternal life...a life without fear and discrimination. A life of no regrets of the past and no concerns of the future. No financial or health issues. We stay young, healthy and sturdy...An eternal galaxial life ...of course we need eternal life not only to explore galaxies but universes with unimaginable attractions and opportunities.
This world is just a teaser...Allah is the greatest...All Powerful, All Knowing, Most Merciful and Just...He wants us to be successful in the test of life and join Him in the world of paradise thats why he sent Prophets as reminder and revealed His message for us.
But if we fail the test and follow the false notions and temptations of this world then remember this world is home to sufferings, regrets, fear and concerns...and those who prefer this world will continue to suffer even with greater intensity in the next life.
So if we want the eternal freedom we have to free ourselves from all man made notions and philosophies.
We are born to Worship Allah alone and not to worship people like us and our own desires.
May Allah guides us all. Aameen

Based on human written books and hadiths. But these are not documents of religion. The only proof of religion is the Qur'an (Zahiya-20) (Rad-37) The Holy Qur'an is the distinguisher between truth and falsehood (2:185). This Qur'an is the judge of all matters of religion (Tariq-13). And this Qur'an is complete about religion (5:3). Those who dislike the meaning of this Qur'an, their deeds will be destroyed (47:9). Fasiq who rejects the Qur'an (2:99). This Qur'an is full of truth and justice (6:115). And those who do not follow the Qur'an and follow what most people say, they will deviate from the path of Allah (6:116). And so the Prophet (pbuh) did not follow anything outside the Qur'an (6:50). That is, he was also limited to this Qur'an. He was not aware of the Unseen (6:50) (7:188). He did not warn anyone about religion except this Qur'an (Ambia-45). And he did not say anything about religion except revelation (53:3) He is in the name of Allah Nothing is made up (69:44). If he had made anything in the name of Allah, Allah would have seized his right hand (69:45) and cut his life artery (69:46). And Allah said to the Prophet (PBUH) 'Rely on the revelation' (43:43). And he was founded on the clear evidence

Another excellent video from the fantastic duo!
    May Allah bless you both.
I am truly amazed at how man made hadith have become so prominent and dominant in Sunni Islam!
There are many so called scholars who will only quote from hadith!! Astaqfirrullah.
Our Primary source of Islam is the Quran. The Quran is the "Kasorti," the TOUCHSTONE.
Our secondary reliance which is in essence extracted from the Quran, ought to be the BOOKS OF FIRQ = Jurisprudence.
The Quran was put together and written down during the lifetime of the Prophet pbuh.
    The Quran states:
    Surah At-tur 52: 2-3
    "Inscribed on fine parchment."
The Quran was written down on fine parchment and not the nonsense hadith that says it was written on bones and stones etc.
    How ridiculous.
As for the 2 or 3 statements that the Prophet said he was leaving, it is only this one that he would ever utter:
"I leave you the Quran only."
The answer as to why this would be the answer is found in the Quran itself:
Hadith were made up, often for reasons of business competion, as in the hadith about dates.
As a Mathematician, I did a rough calculation:
There are 1.5 million hadith narrated by over 500, 000 different people. If we take the average length of a hadith to be 5 minutes long then we find that Prophet Muhammed pbuh would have needed 14 years, saying out loud all these hadith, DAY AND NIGHT!! Or 28 years just saying it out loud 12 hours a day for 28 years continuously!!!
TOTALLY NOT THE CASE THAT 95% OF HADITH ARE FROM THE PROPHET.
OUR DEEN HAS BEEN CORRUPTED AND INFILTRATED BY THE EARLY PERSIANS, CHRISTIANS AND JEWS TOO. But especially the early Persians, the Zoroastrians.
The Persians could not beat the Muslims in battle so they decided to destroy it be changing it.
A prime example is the act that many call NAMAZ. This is not an Arabic word and definitely NOT a Quranic word.
    Namaz is Persian.
It is the word they use when they pray to the fire. They are FIRE WORSHIPPERS.
How did this word enter Islam?
    This comes to mind:
The Prophet said that there will come a day when my people will abandon the Quran.
With Sunni Muslims a although they profess to believe and follow the Quran they also give too much precedence to man made hadith.

I suffer from incapacitating depression and furious anxiety because we live in a horrible world and beautiful life that fools make difficult, and i was told it is the only one we have, so i keep trying. I am a psychologist, economist and philosopher and not a prophet with the absolute truth because the truth and the lie have no master and everyone can be right or wrong, which doesn't mean i can not be right and all humanity past and present can not be wrong. Is it impossible to be wrong believing that everything was created from nothing and that hate is perfect love? I claim i have discovered the nature of God that coincides with our psychology because we are God, and explains why is so important for us to have children, because God lives as long as there is life perpetuating ourselves in the future of God with our children. I claim the first "Theory of Life and Death impossibility possible miracle God" based on logic and rational thinking would end atheism and religion collapsing mortality rates to bring peace to the world on being known as proof of a miracle and the existence of God for all humanity to witness. I stand by my truth against humanity with reason because the truth is that I would not exist if God didn’t exist because nothing can be created from nothing and if everything needed to be created nothing would exist, therefore eternal God exists because I exist. The logical God's paradox is that it is impossible the existence of finitude without the existence of eternity or infinitude. It is impossible the existence of life without the existence of eternity, that is impossible. In infinite time every present moment is preceded by a never ending past and the moment of the creation of finitude or life would never be reached. I exist therefore the paradox must be resolved. The God’s paradox is resolved by being the impossibility made possible by the miracle of God, that can do possible the impossible. I am the same and different person than I was yesterday and I would be tomorrow, impossibility possible miracle God. I was created by my parents and I always existed because I am my parents that are my grandparents that are everything else, impossibility possible miracle God. Why my truth is not allowed on the debate? The importance of my unique understanding of reality for psychology and philosophy, even if I am wrong, can not be overestimated and humanity don't understand anything. What a pity! What a hell! How is treating humanity God? I am not allowed to have a voice, to have my truth known to be confronted with the dogmatic lies of ateism and religion inmune to logic and common sense. Is it possible to believe that it is impossible to be wrong believing that everything was created from nothing and that hate is perfect love? It is impossible and real, an impossibility made possible by the miracle of God, an act of God. Science can not explain the origin of what is not originated because always existed. Before the moment of the creation of the Miracle of Life and Death or finitude God existed eternally and consciousness creates consciousness, intelligence creates intelligence like existence creates existence. God designed its own Life and Death to become Alive from eternal Existence functioning according to the natural laws, psychological truths and free will in a mortal cycle of birth, death and resurrection that tends to eternity as long as life creates life loving having children. Life gives meaning to existence and there is not life without death. The only way to be alive eternally is in a sequence of mortality, of life that creates life, that tends to immortality because immortality is death, lie, addiction, religious god. God is perfect justice with perfect knowledge because everything we do we do it to Ourself and to know the absolute truth is perfect karma for eternity. Being God to worship and sacrifice for a lie that looks like a lie would bring infinite shame, guilt, ridicule, absurd. Religion is ambiguous, uncomprehensable, contradictory, harmful madness that is believed because people are desperate to live eternally not understanding the empty promise of eternal happiness, because there is not life without death and happiness without unhappiness. We would live in the past of God, that is present and would be future, being the Creator and the Creation impossibility possible miracle God as long as there is any kind of life, consciousness, psychology, i think therefore I am, being aware of existence. If God die all die to become a memory of what the Miracle of Life and Death was for eternity, like a picture or growing nails on a corpse, like a perfect character in a role playing Game of Life and Death that doesn't decide or roll the dices because everything that is intended to do is achieved automatically and knows the future of a omniscient, almighty, inmortal religious god that doesn't play or live because is meaningless existence. The purpose in life is to keep God alive and happy because is our Own Life.

People have been doing this since long to interpret Quran according to their thought process and what makes them feel is right and accurate. Shiytaan is very smartly working on them to be misguided. I don’t trust anyone who is qualified from non-Islamic foreign universities and then start explaining Islam from baseline. Why Non-Islamic foreign Institutes would even care about Islam and teaches you real Islam being the worst friend of Islam on the other hand . What is the Islamic curriculum in these universities and who has prepared it. Be wise and don’t go with every day new arguments justifying their philosophy on Islam according to their thinking.
A very clear sign of getting closer to a Judgement day. Most of the Dayee from this era are in efforts to prove that old teachings are stale and old scholars were incorrect in many ways. Question is did they find new treasures of Islamic teachings from somewhere which were never discovered by earlier scholars in past and they have better knowledge of Arabic and Quran in this time. We are already made aware of this Fitna to come. Shiytaan’s objective is to cut off the love for prophet s.w and his Sunnah.

Doesn't add up. If people were really so obsessed about recording the prophet's messages, they would be collected chronologically, maybe with some context or dates provided. The hadith were made up afterwards, and the problem is that without the hadith you have no real idea about the original circumstances surrounding the writing of the Quran. Quranic manuscripts are so ancient that they were written before Muhammad. Birmingham manuscript 568-645, with median date preceding the supposed prophetic call in 610, and it is no first draft.

I think Dr. Shabbir is in transition period where many scholars become Quranists and than In Shaa Allah came back to the way of sunnah. For all Quranists please tell me the name of months (plural) which Quran tells that every one knows. Quran doesn't name the months it comes from sunnah. So Quran itself pushes muslims to follow way of the prophet (today found in written form as Hadees and transmitted through generations as practices). Quranists cannot tell the way to perform Salah nor they can tell you the words of Adhaan from Quran. But muslims who are not yet fully become Quranists are forced to follow the same hadith knowledge they try to refute. Dr. Shabbir has nothing new to add to our knowledge since every one knows that art of collecting hadith and Asma ur rijaal is formed exactly for the reason that we try to separate right from wrong narrations and it is still being worked on till this date. Imagine you have only Quran in your hand telling you to spend 24/7 life as the prophet did. Where would you get that data from?
I think we are being thankless to the people who spend their lives preserving the knowledge that we so care freely use today.

In Islam, Allah is one in whose “oneness” there is one “personhood”. In Judaism and Christianity, God is one in whose “Oneness” there are three different “Personhoods”. God, in His infinite love and mercy for humanity, clothed or covered into human flesh (skin) one of His three different “Personhoods” by way of the Virgin Mary; and sent Him to walk among mankind. John, the Apostle, who was an eye-witness, wrote, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelled among us, and we beheld His Glory - the Glory as the only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and full of truth.” [John 1:14]

Shabir Ally is one of the hadith rejectors, although he does not state this directly.
The enemies of Islam tried to distort the Qur’anic text a lot from a long time ago, and they always failed every time.
Now they've switched to a new strategy, if you cannot distort the text, distort the meaning.
At this stage, they found a strong barrier standing between them and the distortion of the meaning of the text. They found the heritage and understanding of the Prophet (PBUH) and his companions standing in front of them. Therefore, they are trying to question the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) until they left the arena for them to distort the Qur’anic meaning without anyone standing in their way.
Even at this stage they will not succeed, simply because they are challenging Allah, Allah has promised to protect His Qur'an.
Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allah. So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome. And those who have disbelieved - unto Hell they will be gathered.
