I'm 1 minute into the vide and already heard "little did the audience now...", "unexpected challenge..." like Rebeca was some unknown competitor. Rebeca had already finished second to Biles twice in the Olympic games.Biles even jokingly said "I'm tired to compete with her...". If Biles was always expected to be the first, Rebeca was almost always expected to be second. So it isn't as far fetched as it seems

I'm happy to know that Rebeca won the hearts of Americans and the world. Know that Brazilians love Simone, but it was during these Olympics that we were able to see a little more about her life outside of gymnastics. Her humility, her empathy, her humanity. What an incredible woman!!! It is unlucky for two great athletes to be born at the same time, but for the sport and the public, it provides the most unforgettable moments in the history of sport. Biles brings out the best in Rebeca, just as Rebeca does with Biles. It gets boring when you don't have healthy competition with this level of respect.

I'm a Brazilian student in the 8th grade. Our school STOPPED during Rebeca's presentation, at points where even the tests were cancelled. Almost everyone watched her. It was no-uniform day, where we could wear flag-inspired clothes to cheer. My class of 37 students was singing, praying, dancing, doing “magic” for her to win. 19 people cried, including the teacher. We jumped, climbed on tables, created jingles (those little rhymes and songs), recited the Brazilian hymn, shouted, held hands, clapped and threw notebooks in the air. It was so beautiful to see everyone together for our girl Rebeca, as if she were a big sister to all of us.

Like Simone will be staring intesily at the points or something and someone asked Rebeca what she focuss during everything and she just say "nothing, I can't see nothing because I'm without my glasses and my eye sign is terrible", or when they asked what she was thinking and she answered that she was really into cooking so she was trying to remember the recipe she saw somewhere to try to cook after the Olympics are done and she can eat everything. It was a beautiful way to say goodbye to Rebeca's floor career. She stated after her all-around silver (before the floor final) that she'll not longer be competing on the all-around and floor after the Paris Olympics. The ACLs and the toll it takes on her body is too much. She said she'll keep doing the vault, and might do the beam and asymmetric bars if the team needs her, but she'll no longer compete on the floor. Rebeca is so so soo much more than an athlete in Brazil. She is an inspiration and a silver lining in Brazil's athletic scene. Brazil doesn't support their athletes, their top league competitors, only the soccer players (male). So for Rebeca to have overcome it all, all the adversities, and winning against Biles means SO MUCH to all of us Brazilians. When a sportsman or a sportswoman wins any championship it means so much for us, because it makes us feel like we, as people, despite all our hardships, can achieve our goals. But, on the other hand, it shouldn't be this hard for our people who make it to the Olympics. There should be incentives, and I hope our government sees it. Our athletes work twice as hard as most of our competitors! Anyways, I am SO PROUD of my girl Rebeca for representing our country so well, and all the other athletes as well. In the context of sports the term upset doesn't mean causing someone to feel unhappy. It refers to an unexpected result where a competitor who wasn't favored to win ends up winning. "Upset Simone Biles" means that she might have been expected to win but was unexpectedly defeated by someone else, in this case, Rebeca. It's pretty common term used in sports journalism and doesn't imply a conflict between the 2 of them.

Shannon Miller also has a move named after her on the uneven bars and Daniella Silivas has a beam mount named after her also. I do believe it is true that Simone is the only one who has banned skills that she can do because no one else can do them and it would be an unfair advantage for her to use them in competition. But she is certainly not the first to have skills named after her. She may be the first to have MULTIPLE skills named after her though which definitely is a striking feat.

Okay dude, I know you did this video on the best of intentions (probably), but as a brazilian I will have to say something.
"Unexpected challenge", "little did they (audience) know", like what??? You say it like Rebeca wasn't a literal Olympic champion before Paris, like she is somehow new to this or something. We KNEW she had a chance, we believed in her and cheered for her during every single competition she was in. Since the begining of this Olympics we knew for SURE that she could win the gold medal, because even with Biles talent, we trusted in Rebeca's work.

And she is an excellent athlete. Simone is so strong and fast. That makes her vulnerable. But she is still THE BEST. Sorry to say that, Rebeca and Simone compete for MANY YEARS. Besides being very good and precise in what she does, it's Rebeca's heart and journey that's getting to Brazilians hearts in particular. She is such pure, great spirit. Biles is a testament to strength, strength of heart and spirit. For someone who endured what she did since early childhood to get there so strong, kind, and umparalled in her craft is more than inspiring. It proves how the spirit of a person is greater than we can see, it really trascends. After the entire imbroglio when the third place has been claimed and granted to another gymnast, although I was pretty upset, I can say that it actually doesn't matter. That competition and that podium will go down, and be remembered in history.

Listen, Rebecca was a brilliant gymnast before winning gold on the floor in Paris. But the American Press, provincial as it is, only gave in to acknowledge her skills because she broke Americans' expectation to see Simone winning gold. This is such a provincial, tacky mindset. Simone Biles will always be a benchmark no matter when she retires. But Simone is far more than a fabricated unbeatable superhero as Americans yearn to categorize her.
