Thanks for all the feedback guys, I'll have to give the Specter M4 another try as a lot of you pointed out that I'm sleeping on it. I also should say that I should have ranked the USAS and AA12 at the same spot since they feel very similar, instead of ranking JUST the AA12. My bad on that one, they're both great shotguns but the USAS is just 10x harder to obtain for no good reason and it slipped my mind at the time of editing.
For me the 2 best weapons hands down at this stage of the game are, grenade launcher (the big one) and AA12. With those 2 I can handle almost any mission with high kill count and own the hunter killers.
Could never play this game. I live in a tent. But these break downs...I'm almost on a controller again. And this game! Brutality beautiful! Seems like a bad time to get old and then get can...sick. great job. Keep em coming!
Imo the ak should be the top 1 it is the weapon with the best customisation in the game, really good damage, decent recoil, silencer, obliterates any non exo enemy from across the entire map, has 3 possible ammo types that being normal, surplus and cryo with 2 of those are everywere since a bunch of enemies have it, it is just the perfect jack of all trades, have that for most enemies plus a secondary granade gun for exos and bamn you can kill all non immortal enemies
I've honestly never noticed a difference between normal ammo and cyro ammo, especially since the AK can already stun lock enemies with one headshot. I was running the AK and a GL before I tried out the RPK, honestly I think AK and RPK are pretty much the same thing but I just like the RPK more
I never new that, I thought memento only had 2 parts. Thanks for the info! Maybe that explains why I could never get a 20mm from goldbrick (a friend loaned me theirs for the video) as it would just disappear from my inventory when I tried to move the disabled gun to my stash.
RPK having 20~ more dmg than the AK is unimportant when you realize the AK gets Cryo ammo that stuns enemies and is incredibly easy to farm whiskey at Scrapyard Nexus extract. AK also gets the 100 round drum mag, making that a null point for the RPK.
Idk if it even matters, you stun lock enemies easily if you shoot them a few times when the stagger animation ends, the biggest crime to me is the rpd, you can only find it on a few euruskan dudes and its broken, but if you take broken guns out, then bring it back, they will convert to "disabled" guns, which drop rarely, once you leave again they are functional guns, thats the only way to get an rpd, the damn thing does 175 damage while rpk does 200, you can only shorten the barrel, mags capacity is 75 and its stuck there, plus it's a lmg so only bag and mask can use it
Btw all ak mags work for the rpk too so id say the rpk is better since stunning is ez and it does more damage, somehow 45acp does 200 though ... I think they gonna fix it tho
Cryo ammo feels pointless imo since you already stunlock normal sized enemies with normal rounds. I'd only recommend the AK over the RPK if you don't like the faster fire rate, or if the 1,000 rounds you get from the traders per hour are not enough for you since the AK gets double of that thanks to the surplus rounds. And fair point, I forgot to mention the AK also has a 100-round mag available.
@be.a.7462 While I like the USAS 12, it's pretty hard to obtain. The only way I've ever gotten it is from a gacha box, and even then, you have to get lucky. Still, I agree that it deserves a spot on the list much more than something like the SCAR.
@gamerproductions5469 It's not mentioned on the list, but, IMO, the best SMG (currently) in game is the Specter, which is purchaseable from Grillo at rank 3. It's better than the Vector because it does the same damage but takes a silencer (that actually works). Also, it's not mentioned in the video, but grenade launchers in the game freaking destroy everything; you just have to be careful not to blow yourself up.
Nah id say half are bad but it doesn't matter too much, all guns do over 100 damage so as long as you got the ammo you cant take most normal enemies, hell the revolver sucks but if you got enough ammo you can still kill enemies at a decent rate, just gotta reload every 8 shots
Yeah i got surprised too, 200 dmg, 50 rounds, suppresable, no sight tho but the irons aint bad although the character doesnt line up the sight most matches
It really is a great gun, I just hope they tweak the damage a bit so that the 7.62 bullets it uses actually hits harder than the damage of 5.45 rounds that it's currently very similar to (like a 20 damage difference between AK and RPK)
Specter M4 easily outshines Kriss. Even though you can't buy an optics upgrade for Specter, silencer + 50 rounds mag of 45 ACP stomps entire squads into dust without notifying all map. USAS 12 not so inferior to AA12, so it's somewhat strange that it's not presented. SA58 IMHO much preferable then SCAR, at least before bug with integrated silencers will be fixed. For me one of the very imporant moments of guns usability is "how much of your space are used for ammo supply". By this standart SCAR is an "F" gun. NTW-20, wich are using same type of ammo, are much more optimal choice. On the other hand, PP-19 easily outshine any 45 ACP SMGs, because of almost negligible space that are 9 mm ammo pacs are using.
I'm gonna have to give the specter another look-at because the comments are raving about it. When I gave it a try for the video research I was very whelmed by it though. I definitely should have made a note about USAS and AA12 being pretty similar, but due to the attainability of the USAS I left it off the list. And a very good point about the ammo, I should have evaluated that factor more for each gun.
You're welcome, glad you found it helpful. The comments section is saying I slept on the Specter M4 so I'd recommend giving that a whirl as well and seeing how it works for you!
The SA58 feels solid but it severely lacks customization options especially when compared to the RPK/M4. I'm really looking forward to when the devs give some TLC to weapon customization options as I'm sure that weapon will easily fly to the top once that happens.
it's so rough to level too since the iron sights suck. Decent gun when you get the attachments at least, and only will get better should it get a mag or barrel attachment in the future
i think the vepr-12 is better than the aa-12, even if the custom ag is "only" 25 ammos compared the the aa12 32, and its insanely hard to get, but it got a lot of customisation and aiming is so much easier even without custom sight attached. also the ak have the cryo ammo that stuns ennemies, so i prefer it over the svd and maybe even above the rpk when using those?
I kept those 'exclusive' guns off the list since they only randomly appear in your donation box from time to time and is purely luck dependent (I've played since launch and have yet to see one for example.). Good to know that it overall feels better than the AA-12 though! And imo cryo ammo feels pointless since the AK already stuns normal enemies with each shot. I don't know if it's a damage threshold thing or something, but all the normal enemies I shoot at with my ak can be animation-locked to death.
That scar pick is questionable but other than that pretty solid list. I would say the M16 would be a better choice instead of the scar since it actually has a decent mag by default.
I guess I don't understand the weapon damage. Video states that the AA-12 has "great" damage (5/5) but the in game stats show weapon damage at 100, which is as low as it gets. If I'm missing something, any explanation is appreciated.
I'm not sure about the specifics of it for Forever Winter, but it's along the lines of how shotgun damage is usually "100 damage per projectile, each shot has X projectiles" in most video games. So yes it only does 100 damage per projectile, but each shell fires what looks like 10+ pellets, making it one of the highest damage weapons in-game, but is only good at close-range since you need to hit as many pellets as possible.
What about range? Obviously shotty would be the best as long as range is disregarded. I've had plenty of situations when bunch of enemies shooting from afar were quite a nuisance to say the least. So far AKs are my go-tos. AK is standard because of abundant ammo and RPK is my BiS primary with GRL as BiS secondary.
great point, range should have been a factor for this. As far as I know, there isn't any damage drop off (I'm probably wrong), so every gun should generally still perform as good at a range. Just slap a higher powered scope on it and you're good
I think that's the task to get them off europan officers if I'm remembering correctly. The flavor text after accepting the quest usually says where you'll find them most often.
Hi, weapon damage is not increased at all for any of the weapons. They only deal base damage. Anything that currently goes above is not effective. Hope you can correct that.
Is it actually like that? I noticed that some guns don't stagger with headshots but after adding some damage they'll stagger. Always assumed it was because with mods, the gun passed whatever the stagger threshold is for headshots.
@@yewnitedgamingNo gun has currently damage increase. As far as we know it’s the case of it being visual. I’ll test for stagger mechanic tomorrow compared to weapon damage and caliber vs each of the troops. Would also good to see you explain to more people stability stat many people can get it wrong, so worth mentioning. For overall in my experience, I play a lot with rpk, ak, m4,ppsh,glock,aa12,m79,xm25 and painless. The most consistent ones are shotguns,HRFs and painless. Even if Shotguns and HRFs are affected by ping they still stagger very consistently. Painless is the only gun that is not affected by high ping.
I’m gonna be honest I thinks ADS on a lot of guns and scopes are bugged. I do know that some scopes have different muzzle flash entirely even on the same gun which makes no sense. The only time I try to ADS is with 2x scope as I found them to be the least buggy and most accurate with lowest muzzle flash. Why am I saying this? I noticed in your gameplay you ADS a lot, try using third person with laser pointer more often and see if you get better results.
Supposedly they just updated the game to fix a lot of the bad ADS on guns, but like you said point/hip firing is so much better and reliable, especially with the huge muzzle flash on all guns
I'm not gonna lie, scar being on the list is probably my most biased placement out of them all 😂. It still feels better than using alternatives like an m16/SA58/RSASS though and has it's huge downsides hence is low on the list. Also great point with the AK iron sights; I overlooked that because I honestly point-fire in this game 90% of the time since it's so clean/reliable.
You unlock the vendors as you complete your initial quests. I believe you should have them all unlocked after your first 4 quests (extract from scorched enclave > extract water > extract drone components > extract from ashen mesa)
The GOLDBRICK mission is broken. I've extracted with his rifle and completed the mission twice. The SCAR is garbage as far as I'm concerned, not many steps away from the VKS. I was lucky enough to scavenge a drum mag for it, but I don't want to risk losing it. SVD is also terrible to use, without a scope anyway. The iron sights aren't aligned properly, just like the SCAR's default sights. You only see the SVD's from post. The G36 comes default with a 40 round magazine, the game seems to like recognizing it's kills more than other rifles. As in, gaining weapon XP with it seems to just work better. I think the RPK deserves an honorable mention, it's iron sights actually work fairly well, it's cheap, levels up well, anyone think about finally moving on from the default might as well start with this. The 87 Target is the best pistol in the game, only beat by the M39. But the USP and R8 are also favorites of mine. Pistols let you run faster, except for Bagman, he's meant to be slow. I wish the SA58 was a little better, but until a update the damage happens on all the weapons, I can see why people would choose better alternatives.
@zahkgames5812 sell it? It's not like I can buy another one. It's a trophy. I'll use it when I feel like using it. There's better guns in the game, that are more satisfying to use. I am good. Using the SCAR won't make me better. It's not much better than the VKS. It's garbage. Until they make "200 damage" actually make an impact like 200 damage.
My bud and i got the quest done once, he was at the bunkers in ashen, most guns you mentioned were bad i agree there alot, i hope the scar becomes a rare gun and gets its damage bumped to like 400-600 kike when you see a sniper squad, bro those guns are terrifying, love and hate it, cool design since it deviates with the irl version with the thick 8 round mag, most guns are just copy paste irl stuff which in the setting throws me off miles, hate the scar because once you add all the parts its just a AR that looks cooler, and the ammo is heavy af, imagine if it was rare to see, semi but you can convert it later to auto and add the big mags to make it a 50 round automatic barret, thatd be sick
Honestly I mostly point fire / hip fire since it's so clean/reliable in this game, I just switch to third person ADS in my videos so people know it's possible. Unless you ARE talking about how I point fire a lot. Then idk what to say other than you somehow interpret being able to accurately point fire /hip fire in a game as a negative.
Thanks for all the feedback guys, I'll have to give the Specter M4 another try as a lot of you pointed out that I'm sleeping on it.

Shotty is good hey.
I'm surprised they slap as hard as they do, probably because the game has no armor system yet hence you can destroy a tank with buckshot.
Just like IRL the M4A1 is the best weapon in DA GAME!! Lol
too good to beat lol
I don't know if I can take the opinion of someone who fights in third person seriously.
Tell me you can't hipfire without telling me you can't hipfire 🤣
