- Which Walkabout Mini Golf VR DLC is the best one? Let’s rank all the optional courses and find out! If you’ve played any of the walkabout mini golf courses, you know that this is going to be an incredibly difficult job, so I spent HOURS breaking down each DLC, playing them through, finding all the balls and solving the fox hunts, and getting input my community over in Discord, before breaking the ranking criteria into five main categories. I’ll explain the details of each category in the description, but I spent a lot of time balancing the points of each course against each other so that the scores are as unbiased as possible.
🎖️Ranking Criteria:
🌄Visual Graphics: Aesthetics, distinctiveness, difference between hard and easy mode, graphical details
🌊Flow: Easy to follow the course layout and understand where to go next; easy to understand the objective of each hole
⚙️Dynamics: Addition of any design elements that affect the game, including moving segments, different surface friction, lasers, etc.
🏆Competitive balance: Fair gameplay; no disadvantage in going first, Risk-Reward, non-randomization (think of the benefit of having played the course previously or not)
💜Non-competitive experience: Emotional experience, Ball hunt and Fox Hunt, Abiance, uniqueness

Great video! As a fellow elder millennial, I'm surprised you haven't seen Labyrinth! It's such a fun movie filled with all the magic Jim Henson and his puppetry have been known for over the years. I was surprised you didn't mention in your review of the Myst course that the foxhunt has three different putters to collect depending on who you side with! I played Myst as a kid and when I learned there were multiple putters it blew my mind!
WHAAAA! I had no idea about the different putters! I have to go back now and look again 👀👀
And for Labyrinth - the only thing I can think of is that since I grew up in Norway, not all movies made it to the theatres there, and they definitely wouldn't have been shown on TV until recently. It must have just slipped under the radar!
@@VikingPrincessVR Growing up in Norway seems like a completely normal reason! It really is a fun movie, but it's hard to know how much of my love of it is colored by nostalgia at this point, lol
@@VikingPrincessVR And yeah there are three different paths you can take in the foxhunt to get the different putters, related to the colors of the pages you are picking up!

@@francoislarose6108 It is great! I've only played it once, but I had SO much fun! I find it similar to Alfheim and Atlantis in style - simple, but fun! The foxhunt was a bit too easy, and I wish it made me explore more . But then the balls were fairly tricky, so I guess it balances out :)

Widow's Walkabout is my personal favorite❤
It's such an underrated map!
Been playing this game since it came out. My favorite DLC is Upside Town. It is so unique and fun. It is also the most hated DLC which is not fair since most of the haters are those with physical disabilities.
Second favorite is Atlantis and third is Meow Wolf. We always joke how Meow Wolf is definitely drug induced. 😂

Great vid! Just a question though - what exactly do you mean about “competitive balance”? I don’t really see how something could be super unbalanced.
Great Question! I put more information about each category in the video description. But for "competitive balance," I am referring to whether or not there is any benefit having played the course previously, or being first on the tee-box. Meow Wolf is a great example of a map with terrible balance, as most of the time you have no idea what's going on until you hit the ball. The map is really good, but it can be very frustrating for those of us who are a bit more competitive, to have to guess what will happen when you putt, which means it's a big benefit to being second. This is obviously less of a concern when you play many times, which is also why I didn't want to distinctly say "this map is better than that map" because some people don't care about that kind of balance. Hopefully that makes sense!
Competitive Balance also includes the ability for high-risk, high-reward play that can help showcase skill-gaps, but without putting anyone at a disadvantage :)
Upside town is my #1 least favorite. After playing the easy course and starting the hard course, I couldnt stand it any longer. I quit playing. I went back and found the hidden golf balls and got the new putter. To this day i have not gone back to play either of the courses. I do think if they used the graphics to make a “rightside up” course it would be amazing. My second least favorite is Tethys Station. I absolutely LOVE all of the other courses.
I agree with you, Tethys Station is more high stakes for beginners, and it is my least favorite of the core pack levels., but I suppose through my intense dislike of this level, mastery would be all the better, as it would allow refinement of putting because of it demanding higher skill levels.
I got a headset in January just to play this game, and ive been addicted to it since day 1. Finally something to do in my small town in BC Canada :( lol

WMG has made me feel like im out and about doing things with people hehe. Great video btw, changing clothes for each course was going above and beyond for your content! and you are easy on the eyes to watch ;) lol. keep it up !

Great Video, Thank you. I have a question I would like to ask: I noticed you are using the quest 3, how do you find playing Walkabout Mini Golf compared to using a quest 2? Have you found much difference with the visuals and the FOV? Thanks!
I haven't noticed any difference in the graphics for WMG. I do, however, prefer the Q2 controllers to the Q3-both with and without the extended grip. They seem more accurate for some reason. But I do find it easier to play with the Q3, as the design makes it feel lighter on my head, so it puts less strain on the neck and back when looking down all the time.
Another note I will make is that I usually play WMG via SteamLink and not the native Quest version (for recording purposes, and that's where I have all my DLCs!). But WMG is one of the best optimized games for Quest, and I haven't heard anyone mention a big difference in graphics between the two :)
@@VikingPrincessVR I finally took the time to install Quest Games Optimizer on my Quest 3 and it made a huge difference in graphics.
I didn’t think it would be that noticeable in games like WMG, but the default HD+ setting without any tweaking greatly improved the text readability for fox hunts (although I already started using a bigger wrist watch setting for that) and it just made everything a bit sharper.

till this day I still haven't played the night mode atlantis. the dark water makes me feel uncomfortable. I opened it for like 5 seconds and quit immediately.
I 110% know where you are coming from! Swiming around looking for the fox hunt made me super uncomfortable

Thalassobhobia is a real thing. I can't look behind me when i'm at the outside of the submarine in the 20,000 leagues course either.
Dude I get it, but dude it is such an experience, the glowing course with the glowing fish and turtles are so pleasing to the eye, just don’t go too far out because I get it

Should I get Venice or ice lair?
I preferred Venice. Ice Lair is more "gimmicky" with the ice surface and bouncing ice cubes - which can get frustrating. Venice is more standard putting mechanics but with really fun holes and variations.
