THIS is my new favorite channel... it’s hard to find tutorials about basic and situational positioning in the rink. I’m in my 40’s learning hockey- I’ve skated for years; I knew shooting and puck-handling would have their respected learning curves - I never imagined that knowing where to be in the rink at the right time would be my biggest hurdle. Great tips...pls keep them coming.
Nice work! Awesome video as usual. Could you make a video where you discuss the decision making process when you are in possession of the puck and approaching a defender 1 on 1? How do you decide what moves to make to deke or dangle the defenseman? Are there specific defenseman behaviors to look for when deciding what move to make? I think viewers would really appreciate a video that explores this idea. Thanks.
Nick Knez mr Nick, there are videos out there. Just look. However imho, d are about keeping forwards wide;out of the slot... some things to consider after you have worked on your speed, some dekes and what side of the ice your on is to see if they are left or right handed; how much space(is the d closing the gap yet) and often waiting (or getting) the d to start their crossovers. Crossovers get the d to commit to the direction the are going to(usually). Try not to just deke with only your head movement. Try to use your shoulder & upper body just enough to sell it...d usually watch your eyes and or your "chest"… hope this helps...
Another good one! Although it would have been nice to see when to use one cutback or the other, dependent on defender's positioning (maybe something to do in future videos). Enjoyed it as always.
