Thank you for speaking out about nursing homes. My mom works in one as a cna and I work supplying meds for them (long term care pharmacy) and speaking to the nurses there from my side it’s obvious they make mistakes with med passes because they’re so overworked
Yeah that whole field is criminally underpaid. As a level 1 apprentice I was already making more per hour than my mom who's a union care aid. She gets way better hours n stuff so she still makes more, but still though that's kinda crazy. They shouldn't have to do 60 hour work weeks to make a living wage. Noone wants to care about elderly care until they're needing that care
The private equity thing is what happened to UK water companies after privatization American businesses bought with huge loans put it on the companies books, never upgraded infrastructure and just toke all profit out in dividends
Minus the bankruptcy, betting on either being allowed to increase water bills as much as possible or waiting for a gov bailout. (Please just declare bankruptcy and get given to the gov for free please please please)
The "dividends" were to pay back interest on the debt that was taken on to be used for investment FYI, and that's regulated by OFWAT, so what you said isn't quite accurate. Not to say they didn't fuck it, but it's not as obviously nefarious and ridiculous as just taking on debt to buy a company and leaving them with it and then taking all the profit and leaving them.

Big A really just said "You can tell a company is being siphoned off by private equity and left to die when..." and listed off a bunch of common practices in modern employment, at large across America and further. Thanks bro.
Private equity is bad because it transfers the debt into the company purchased. This causes major lay offs and some people even lose their pensions. Turns company into shit.
"I just wanted to stay 5m and get back to my podcast. So yeah, we didn't stay long, just 2.5h, and then we were outta there." That's just...the length of a party when you're in your 30s.
I genuinely believe that the private equity shit needs to be illegal. It is such a bad practice that has massive negative effects on society as a whole. It is in society’s best interest to not allow it.
She siphoned 3% of Vietnam's GDP as publicly bonded debt. The money was offshored to (I believe) Hong Kong. This was after she set up rings of shell corporations to acquire 93% of Saigon Commercial Bank (the individual share ownership limit on a single bank is capped to 5% stake)
Starting to think clickbaity titles the like’s of this are on par with pop up adds for scummy behavior overall. It truly all started to go downhill when kids started wanting to be TH-camrs instead of doctors, engineers, lawyers etc. Holy yap
Using the company's value you are buying to get a loan to buy the company is called a leveraged buy out. It's stupid and almost always fails. It's like getting a mortgage based on the value of the property.
Have you seen the vision pro videos where people are talking to floating heads? To me that's like the ai pin, like I want a ghost of a friend talking to me who can see me as a ghost where they are when I can just put them on speaker phone or video chat with them if it HAD to be visual. All while a heavy thing on my face is recording what's in front of me to visualize this weird thing people seem to be hyped about. Idk, a lot of sci-fi just seems lame in reality when I think about it. Like how starfield made me realize space travel is rather boring

There will be two Musk companies in debt, when Musk's Tesla compensation package is approved. That $56 Billion will be on Tesla's books and they have less than $20 Billion cash at hand, if $6.5 Billion of deferred federal taxes (due this package) in 2023 is taken into account.
Dawg the description of private equity is pretty disingenuous. If all they did was buy companies and siphon off money from them, that would not be profitable. They have to actually grow and exit the business to actually make money. It logically doesn't make sense to buy a company at value and siphon off whatever cash they have; you'd literally lose money. Toys R Us is a good example of a bad PE investment

Cumtown simply
As someone who worked at Bed Bath and Beyond you can tell when a company is going bankrupt. I quit when my department head told me i had to use the old navy bathroom because they couldn't get any cleaning materials.
I live in Columbia Missouri, a normal-sized town. Waltans live in enormous mansions here, and I don't think I've ever seen one leave.
