I bought the same tool box today at the swap meet for $10. It is in better shape but, it's missing the top tray and it was full of old tools and sockets. By the way, good job.
Excellent work!!! Great restoration. Thank you for posting! I have two of these boxes. One I got 45 years ago and the other I inherited from my Dad. I'll be doing a resto on both. Thanks again for sharing.
Coincidentally I was just out in my shed, looking for something and came across two tool boxes in a cabinet. One of them is exactly like the one featured in this video go figure. They belonged to my wife’s grandfather, and were given to me when he passed away. Great video your tool box looks awesome and you’ll have a treasure for a lifetime.
Nice job! I restored this same model, but the pop rivets on the latches started to pull loose from the weight when I put tools in it. I ended up using bolts and nuts with loctite to solve the problem. It's my house tool box now.
Found an old intact Kennedy tool box the likes of which I was given when I worked for the Hollywood wastewater plant in Florida as a mechanic. Extremely decent condition with a little rust but with some odds and ends tools for $2.
Nice restoration. My dad passed away 1 year ago today and he had the same toolbox which now I have and would like to restore. What chemicals did you use to clean the hardware and on the box itself and the paint used?
Excellent job!!! I have some questions. What did you soak the latches in to remove the rust? What size and length rivets did you use? I want the rivets to be flush inside of the box.
My dad has a couple of boxes identical to that one, except he took better care of his, so they are in much better shape than that one was. But it came out looking pretty good.
I’m in the process of restoring and customizing some as well. Super nice work, I know it’s a long process. I Did two as gifts and now looking to possible sell online with a customizable option. Do you keep for yourself, get hired to restore, or do you restore and resell?
I mostly restore to practice and keep the items myself. I usually keep them til i find someone who needs it, then i can gift it, and they can see the work put into it

I remember this tool box in my dad's garage when I was little over 50 years ago, now it sits in my garage.
Great to see you're restoration.
I literally just found my deceased dads at my moms house. Lol I’m 57 and haven’t seen that box in decades!! Now going to restore it
Same here!

Excellent work! This is one of the nicest old toolbox restorations I've seen. Well done! 😃👍

When i restored mine i sprayed the bottom with truck bed liner
Good idea
Very nicely done, awesome video
I'm impressed have one exactly like it bought it new in 1970
Wow well done looks great! 🎉

I love Kennedy Tool Boxes.. I want to do one next
What did you soak the latches in at the 1 minute mark?
Very handsome toolbox build!
My guess is white vinegar.
Outstanding work. 😃😃

Soaked them in vinegar. I'll check the size of the rivets in a little bit.
Great work!!
I’m in the beginning stages of restoring my Dad’s. What is the size of the rivet you used for this project?
Le quedó al cien tío. Que tipo de remaches uso para reinstalar los candados?
Other than using pop rivets, it came out nice
Nice job! How many hours would you say it took?
Probably took a little over a week.. Working on it a couple hours a day.
@@CoronaConstruction Wow! Quick response, I say!
Great. I need to do mine that's in better shape.
Okay, what did the rivets look like on the inside of the toolbox?
They looked like regular rivets

Awesome project but spraying the box with your kid and dog around was kind of odd.
Can you restore one for me? Mine looks slightly different
beautiful restoration!! Great video. What is the white filler you used?
Bondo
The kid sits there without any raspirator while you spray pain that thing, genius xD
No need for this kind of comment.
Just bought one today off market place $25
Nice job, but not covering up your tools and such for overspray? having your daughter in there when you are spraying?
Please show some of your work . Thanks

Now do mine!🤪
what size rivets did you use to reattach the hardware?? and how many cans of the hammered paint did you use?
I believe only one.. And finished with a can of clear coat after.
What is the color?
Used Rustoleum Hammered
@@CoronaConstruction Thanks. Mine isn't quite as bad as that one. I bought it in 1975
