I bought the same tool box today at the swap meet for $10. It is in better shape but, it's missing the top tray and it was full of old tools and sockets. By the way, good job.
Coincidentally I was just out in my shed, looking for something and came across two tool boxes in a cabinet. One of them is exactly like the one featured in this video go figure. They belonged to my wife’s grandfather, and were given to me when he passed away. Great video your tool box looks awesome and you’ll have a treasure for a lifetime.
Nice restoration. My dad passed away 1 year ago today and he had the same toolbox which now I have and would like to restore. What chemicals did you use to clean the hardware and on the box itself and the paint used?
How were you able to remove the wheels? Im having trouble taking them off without damaging the wheel itself. Also do you know why the logo it had first didn't have the kid on the wagon? I have the exact same one and i cant find much information on it or what year its from. Mine doesn't have serial number. Thanks.
As far as the kid on the logo.. I ordered them online.. Didn't really realize the kid on the wagon til they came, didn't feel like waiting to order the exact match ones.
Excellent work!!! Great restoration. Thank you for posting! I have two of these boxes. One I got 45 years ago and the other I inherited from my Dad. I'll be doing a resto on both. Thanks again for sharing.
I’m in the process of restoring and customizing some as well. Super nice work, I know it’s a long process. I Did two as gifts and now looking to possible sell online with a customizable option. Do you keep for yourself, get hired to restore, or do you restore and resell?
I mostly restore to practice and keep the items myself. I usually keep them til i find someone who needs it, then i can gift it, and they can see the work put into it
All I did was buff with compound, then buff with polish.. I haven't even put a clear coat on yet. I was thinking of using the Poppys Patina wipe on clear coat, but was waiting for the weather to let up a little over here.. We will see.
The size wheels that came on that truck would have been 16.5 but, since tires for that size wheel are just about impossible to find go with either a 16" or 17"....I forget the name of the manufacturer but they make a 17" old school slotted mag wheel that would be perfect for that truck
@@halseyknox if you could find those 17" ones your talking about, send me the link.. I'd love to check them out because I definitely wanna switch them out.
@@CoronaConstruction no problem....I looked them up after my last comment I sent you...they are U.S. Indy U101 slotted mags. They are 17"x10" wheel which is a perfect size for a 33"-35" tire....you have bitchen truck. I have a 70 F250 2wd with a 3" autofab lift but sure wish I had highboy
@@CoronaConstruction Don't what your budget is but those U.S Indy mags are pretty expensive. There are alternatives that are a less expensive: American Racing has a wheel they call the outlaw which isn't a slotted mag but still an old school aftermarket style and if look you can find other options. Hell I'd even consider correct size steel wheels as that's what came stock on that truck anyway and a 8" wide steel wheel can accommodate 33" size tires. Whatever you do don't go bigger than 17" wheels. The big wheel fad on 60's/70's era classic cars and trucks have ran there course and people are now embracing correct size wheels to keep their cars and trucks period correct. That's just my opinion
hey bud awesome vid! did you use silver or gray rust oleum hammer?

Excellent work! This is one of the nicest old toolbox restorations I've seen. Well done! 😃👍
I've got the same one also inherited from my dad.
What did you soak the latches in at the 1 minute mark? Very handsome toolbox build!
My guess is white vinegar.
6 inch?
Excellent job!

Hi
Nice metal sculpture.
Very nice!! Where did you get the decals?

Very nicely done, awesome video

Not sure. The wheels came off fairly easy
As far as the kid on the logo.. I ordered them online.. Didn't really realize the kid on the wagon til they came, didn't feel like waiting to order the exact match ones.
Other than using pop rivets, it came out nice
Can you restore one for me? Mine looks slightly different

I remember this tool box in my dad's garage when I was little over 50 years ago, now it sits in my garage. Great to see you're restoration.
I literally just found my deceased dads at my moms house. Lol I’m 57 and haven’t seen that box in decades!! Now going to restore it
Same here!

Wow well done looks great! 🎉
Le quedó al cien tío. Que tipo de remaches uso para reinstalar los candados?
Sweet Highboy! Is that stock height or a lift?
Stock Lift 👍
Very nice, I would love to buy it from you… let me know thanks..
Where you located.. We can talk
Okay, what did the rivets look like on the inside of the toolbox?
They looked like regular rivets
I have one of these in my garage!
Nice job! How many hours would you say it took?
Probably took a little over a week.. Working on it a couple hours a day.
@@CoronaConstruction Wow! Quick response, I say!
Mac Dre boy 🔥
Beautiful job with the paint restoration. Was that a new clear coat over “rust” product? I’ve seen products that are wipe on now for this process.

Nice highboy for sure but those wheels have got to go.... correct period looking size 16"-17"
Tuffest made
Looks good. Just got a 2 wheel drive version from a friend of mine.
Nice truck and glad you are training your daughter how to drive stick.
Thanks.. No doubt
Cool truck
Thanks
Where in Cali are you? I'm in L.A.
Bay Area
@@CoronaConstruction Damn, kinda far. 😬
Gorgeous Truckk❤💯🔥
As a avid marketplace hunter saw this truck for a while good to see it got a nice home
What did you use to make it shine like that? Is it clear coat or something?
I first used compound and buffed the whole truck.. Then I buffed the whole truck using polish... Next would be to add a clear coat.
Nice, where did you get the wheels
Got them when I bought the truck a few months ago.. Wish I knew more.

It. Looks good. Bro
Thanks!
Nice
Thanks
A REAL TRUCK.
Sweet!!!!
I love the truck but the wheels gotta go But I’m an old fart Thanks for the video I’m not trying to be a jerk
Thanks.. I got the original wheel and tires, but the rubber for that size are too expensive.. Got to special order..
Where is the work
did you have to make a T nut for the quick change tool post?
Nice if you want to roast one marshmallow at a time.
I'm impressed have one exactly like it bought it new in 1970
