Longest running Fighter Program in the history of powered flight ... YF-16 in 1974 thru today's Block 70/72. GDFW Chief Design Engineer Harry Hillaker drew out the F-16's silhouette on a paper napkin at the Old South Pancake House on University Dr. in Fort Worth around 1970. One slight emendation on your G-Force stat ... the 9G limit is for the Pilots ... the airframe was designed to take up to 20G's. And you forgot to mention the first to have a "wrap around Bubble Canopy" that allowed a much improved Pilot situational awareness. Many features incorporated from Block 50/52 which already had CFTs (Some Countries also have 600 gallon under Wing tanks along with the CFT's vs the normal 370's for everybody else) but the Block 70/72's will be able to "talk to" the F-35's that are out front and deliver weapons from their locations thereby not giving away stealth location of the F-35's. Slick Bird !!!
The F-16 was BORN with “fly-by-wire controls” because, for maneuverability’s sake, the plane was designed to be so unstable it takes a computer to make it safely flyable. The resultant “snappy” turnability makes the F-16 capable of out maneuvering some surface-to-air missiles if the pilot can see them coming.
Its because it has relaxed stability. Almost exactly like the F35. Theres pictures of both planes taking high aoa turns with an almost neutral or even opposite elevator input. Its actually pretty amazing
Those conformal fuel tanks really ruin the sleek look of the F-16. I understand the need for an extended range and endurance, but it's obviously a very utilitarian addition.
Most produced fighter....not, 10k Sabers produced. The side stick is now a rudder? What absolute garbage. Had to run away at radar destroying the enemy.
He's said "today", I take that as in currently in production.. because those assembly lines are still rolling. We also produced more F4 Phantoms than f-16s.. but we stopped
The Pilots nicknamed it the viper after claiming it resembled both a snake and the Battlestar Galactica TV show fighter, the Colonial Viper. I do not see the resemblance in either case.
Get out of here 😂 Ur splattering lies... You don't know what you're talking about, cos even with all its weapons spent, its avionics are so damn advanced it will dance figures of eight around anything in the air or from the ground... That's why combat experienced militaries spend top dollar to have the Viper among its top front line combat squadrons
She was ahead of the curve with the "fly by wire" tech by 25yrs, thanks General Dynamics, well done !
Best/hottest looking fighter since the P-51 Mustang!
Over 25 countries have it it speaks for itself. And to upgrade it OMG.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌️
Outstanding plane with a long history.
I believe all of our fighter jet should have the Helmet Targeting Technology.
Incredible plane. The little engine that could. You can add a fully modernized EW suite for the viper too. DCS F-16 mod is awesome too!

Is the Old South Pancake house still there? I haven't eaten there in years. Liked it better than IHOP.

@@bigearl3867 according to Google, yes and still open 24/7. Haven't been in years as I don't like in Cowtown anymore.

Always loved that sleek design with the underbelly intake, still a beauty
The stick is off center (on the side instead of between the pilot's legs), not the rudder.
I LOVE THE 16!!!

agreed, she's just not the same !
The flying DART.

Click bait! Do you really think the F16 had cables and pullies for their control surfaces? This video failed to mention the hydraulic system.
Script writer doesn't know squat about Vipers.
Best aircraft ever made overall

Sit down armchair expert

There were also over 5k F-4 Phantoms.
All upgrades are required for any US aircraft’s, the world needs peace keeping arsenal’s 🇺🇸
Long story told, dngine type, speed, range, load cspacity, thrust, how many ft raising hight in sky, fuel cknsumption, not given
Looks like a Cobra so they nicknamed it Viper???? A Cobra is not a viper though🤦🏾♂️

F16 is an excellent fighter with all the arms it carries. Without some arms, it is rendered a flighing coffin.

Who told you to be rendered a flying coffin? It still has a 20 mm Vulcan.
Would any unarmed fighter be a "flying coffin" using your logic?
I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERD HOW A FIGHTER PILOT TAKES A DUMP WHILE FLYING!!!
They wear diapers
😂😂😂😂😂 MISSING IN ACTION IN UKRAINE ….😂😂😂
