    Hi ... thanks for posting this video. For those just starting out it will be very useful. I actually enjoy going through google maps and google earth on the hunt for a peaceful spot. Once in a while, I just drive down a forest road and find something. Ironically, most of my boondocking spots I've used are from TH-cam videos, not from any of the other resources. Cheers, Steve

      ScubaStevee62 Thanks! We love finding spots that aren't on any app or website by just exploring!

    Thank you so much guys for posting this. We found it very helpful. We are new to the RV life but want to be fulltime in a couple of years. Living here in Ontario I find it difficult to find free camping. The last thing I want is a knock on my RV in the middle of the night telling us to get out! Where is it legal and safe to camp is something I wish there were many more videos about.

      We’ve come a long way since that video. Our go to apps are Allstays, Wikicamps, and ioverlander. There are several more. Being a member of harvest host is still a great way to go. Some use boondockers welcome and love it but we haven’t yet. Just go and enjoy! You’ll get very comfortable in no time. Holler if you need something😉

    Thanks for this! I'm getting ready to embark on a few month road/camping trip (in a jeep) throughout Canada. I've read that crown land is limited to Canadians and non-residents must attain a permit and pay. How did you go about navigating free sites in Canada as non-Canadians? I'd love any help you might be able to provide!

    • @CareyOnVagabond
      @CareyOnVagabond  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      E. Vanessa Bethel We didn’t do as much research as maybe we should have and we did not get a non Canadian permit. We used the ioverlander app to find most of our camp spots and we never saw any signs indicating what was crown land and what wasn’t. So we just camped wherever it looked and felt right. Never had any problems. Not sure if it works everywhere but several Canadians in Ontario told us not to worry about a permit but I guess that all depends on the authorities you may bump into. We would probably look into the permit next time for peace of mind🤷‍♂️😁

      @@CareyOnVagabond I've been worried that I was going to have a lot of trouble finding free spots, will continue looking into it but feel a bit relieved that you didn't encounter any issues. Thanks for the reply!

    Hi guys, if you have not used a campground, where do you dump your tanks.

    • @CareyOnVagabond
      @CareyOnVagabond  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keith Payler Lots of places out there to dump tanks. This week we camped in the Prescott,Az National Forest. An RV lot in downtown Prescott has a free dump station and potable water. We use the sani-dump website to find them.

    So enjoying the videos. I wish I could add more comments but I'm using playbackloop.com so I can watch oldest to newest. (TH-cam stopped giving us that option). Of course I can't see or write comments from that site. So for this video I wanted to read all the apps you use so I toggled back over to youtube.com. While I'm here I thought I'd say hi and to let you know how much I am enjoying the 'ride' with you. I sure like your style. Go slow! Stop to see the sites and find the gems. Get up and out too! Free is my favorite price so I like the free camping too. I'm going to start fulltiming in a couple of years. I know, I wish it was sooner but I'm saving some money first and in the meantime having so much fun researching. I definitely want a class B because I'm traveling solo and it's easier to maneuver. It's amazing how much my needs and wants have changed since I first started. One of the reasons I wanted to check in with you is to ask if you're using campendium yet for finding free to low cost sites? I love it and am starting to mark favorites. Are you keeping a diary of where you camp? You've found so many I want to check out. Maybe you can share some of your favorites so I don't have to jot them down one video at a time. An idea maybe for a future video. I haven't caught up yet so excuse me if you have. Thanks for listening and I can't wait to see more of your adventure. All the best, Patti

      Yay! I’m super excited for you to get out on the road! Hopefully the next two years will fly by. 😀👍🏼
      We haven’t been using campendium. I guess we should check it out! We also have not kept a journal of the spots we’ve stayed. That’s a good idea but it sounds like something I would start and not keep up with. 😂🤷‍♀️ We pretty much wander around and stop when we see something good.

    Normally the free camp sites are the most fun no one telling you to turn the music down or whatever
