  • In today's video we continue our series on how to live rent-free or for very cheap. The first way to do that is by dispersed camping for free on National Forest or BLM land. It's hard to believe, but true, that you can drive down the road on nearly all Public Land and choose a site and camp for free. Try it, I think you'll like it!!!

    Thank you for posting this video Bob. My husband and I used to camp a lot and I always preferred being away from normal campgrounds out in the boonies. He's gone now and I'm considering purchasing a nice RV and setting out alone myself. This video was very helpful to me.

    I cant wait to try this. I am coming home next month from my deployment with my Guard Unit and my friends and I have been wanting to find some good trails and spots (we run a volunteer search and rescue team in our area) other than campground areas. I have never been fond of campgrounds because you are right next to bathrooms and people and everything is always so crowded. I have been trying for so long to find just open area in the forest to setup and camp for our missions and finally I figured out it is called disperse camping. Loved the video man!

And it's very true what he said all the criminals are in the city they're not gonna come out in the forest and try to steal your tent it's your electronics And jewelry in a house they would want. Thanks for making this Bob. Good Vibes 👣

    I love your videos and have been subscribed since I saw the documentary "Without Bound". We have been full timing for the last two years and one thing I have learned is the more people you tell, the more people that will do it. Then the powers that be will clamp down on it and then no one will be able to do it. It has been that way with just about everything I have enjoyed doing in my life. That is why I only share things with a select group of people who wont screw things off!

    • @CheapRVliving
      @CheapRVliving  7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      There are many sides to the question "Is it good for more people to become vandwellers and should we tell them about it." Some are angry at me for promoting it, and they make valid point. The more we get on the radar, the more likely for governments to step in and control us. And yes, there is no doubt it is a tremendously growing trend--many more are coming into the life.
      But my thought is it's wrong for me to get mine, and then refuse it to you because it might make my life slightly harder. There are so many hurting and needy people out there, and I simply could not live with myself if I had hope to offer them, and refused to offer it for purely selfish reasons.
      So, right or wrong, I am determined to tell everyone who will listen that there is a better way and it is for them if they want it.

      It's better that we approach travelling safely and smartly so that we respect land and "tread lightly". With a community people are more visible in the nomad forum so that there is safety and help for common issues. I would think this would lead to less violence and damage to nature which the government should consider. I like it that you keep in touch with the rangers which will shed a positive light on nomads living respectfully.

      Hi dusty. My husband hasnt worked in two yrs. If he doesnt get a job. We will be homeless. He didnt say anything else. I told him that. I said lets go camping. He said where. I said around town. Really do this because we will need a lot of practice. He said forget it. Its to hot. I told him guess what the summers is still going to be here every year. So get use to it. Anyway. Think about saving the rent money. My soc. Sec. Check can go only so far. The rent just keeps going up. Then what. The owner here is a multi. Millionare. All he cares about is money. The rat said in a note during the pandemic. Pay the rent or move. I told the mngr. Here the owner is not human. How would he like to be in our shoes. The mngr. Said he is a multi. Millionare. Oh well. We all here is on low income. Oh about our car. A 2019 mitz mirage. It has a 1.7 engine. It is good on gas. Gotta buy a tent to sleep in for comfort. The car is for storage only. Even with the seats out. Wouldnt do any good. Yhank you dusty. Happy travels. May god bless you and everyone. Love you all. Dreaming a nomad life. Oh. My favorite ia a step van. The big one. I need space. And to be a minimalist to. I want a chevy. Love them chevys. Thank you. I need more info. On my choice of vans.and where to take the step in for service.

    Hi Bob. First of all, great video as usual and I look forward to seeing the rest in the series. Secondly, great illustration of how the two-legged predators think. They are opportunistic and they steal things that they can sell without much risk. Excellent point. Thirdly, I just came back from a vacation in the Taos NM area. I got to stay in an Earthship (the Waybee) for two nights which was fantastic. However, to get up to Taos I went through the Carson National Forest on various routes. Oh my God, it was fantastic. I love our forests. I can see why you love them as well. Take care and have a good week!

    You showed a photo of Capitol Reef National Park. My understanding is that most national parks have designated camp sites; whereas BLM and NF are open to dispersed camping.

    First time watching your videos that you said you are armed. Glad to hear. I won't go out and cut my grass without my Glock. And of course I have permit.

    Our Provincial Parks here in Canada also offer this. But there are restrictions and guidelines to follow in each park.
