Those involved in the writing and production of Seven are all US music industry royalty. JK trusted his guts, was aware that some people may not like it. He says the melody is the colour of the artist and this song appealed to him immediately. So he did it and smashed it out of the park!
I think with this song, Junkook wanted to show that he is an adult, because I have the impression that a lot of fans still think of him as a shy 15-year-old boy, a cute maknae. It's enough that on his live he was constantly admonished not to drink, and he had to constantly remind fans that he is an adult and knows what he is doing. He is 25 years old! He's a grown man doing and saying grown-up things. When is he supposed to sing about it if not now? 😉
I totally agree with you. It’s kind of similar with Taemin when he started his solo career, he was known as Shinee’s “baby” and he wanted to show he was not a “baby” he released his first ep “ACE” with the total track being “Danger”. Also the funny thing is Bang Chan from Stray Kids is the same age as Jungkook but is considered the “dad” of his group. But anyways I’m looking forward to his album and can’t wait to see what other stuff he has in store for us.
It reminds me of Disney stars when they change up their whole image/brand and everyone’s shook lol. This was always gonna happen imo.

Rightly said for the album choice. He's been singing in Korean throughout. I mean I wish to see him gather some American awards under his name. I don't care what others think. I was happy to know cuz he has a pop star voice and the way he sings in English is probably better than most of the English native speaker singers. Hold up everybody. No need to get shocked. Anyone familiar with oldddddd school BTS already knows this was in them. If you've ever listened to Trouble (a must for the Jin-biased), or G-d forbid Expensive girl (don't do it) it's clear they ain't afraid to go there. Also the lyrics to Blood Sweat and Tears, though not this explicit, really goes dark. Hobi, our sunshine, asking to get choked to get his rocks off? Let's just accept it was wrong for any of us in the first place to lump them in with Disney-level sanitstion. This is them. Maybe not all the time, but we gotta expect it here n there.

71 year old Army here. This song was written by notables Cirkut (Canadian), Andrew Watt (American producer), and I think 3 others. (Charlie Puth not involved here.) It was presented to Jung Kook and he loved it and wanted to do it. Andrew Watt (Justin Bieber producer) and Cirkut produced it. It was produced and filmed in L.A. JK is telling everyone he is not a baby anymore. He stated once that he doesn't like being called a baby, but some Armys still love to call him that. BTW, his upcoming album is all English. Thanks guys! 💜

Well the difference between Megan, latto, and Snoop’s part is the songs. Megan was in butter so her lyrics fits properly. Same as snoops. So since this song is literally about sex and the original version is the explicit Latto had to take it there.
Because I am an oldhead, the first song that I thought about referring to the days of the week is Cherrelle & Alex O'Neal "Saturday Love." And next because of the mv's energy "Aint too proud to beg" TLC song and the Temptations song. BTS DONT MISS

I enjoyed and learned a lot from your reaction especially about this song, Seven by Jungkook. And that's because you are producers, you know the ins/outs of producing songs and knowing behind the ability of a good singer. it was eye opener. I've been to few concerts, from Genesis to Matchbox 20 (last group I saw), I must say Jungkook is quite an entertainer. He might be too young to be placed on a pedestal, but to me, he is by far the most unique, talented singer.

I’ve been obsessed with seven since it came out😊 JK also seems so happy and confident with the song.
I was genuinely confused to see some of the reactions to this release (even though majority has been positive) because this is exactly JK’s taste; which is evident if you listen to his lives or any of the many covers he’s done over the years. I’m sure he’ll release some more rap or ballad type songs on his album, but he’s a pop boy at heart for sure 😁

One of the reasons I got into Korean culture overall is because it is more morally conservative than American culture. And as a morally conservative American, I like that there are more shows to watch and songs to listen to that reflect my morality. When K-pop becomes too Americanized, it loses that appeal to me.
I know that some Army have a hard time hearing that because they want to support everything the boys do. That’s not me though. I support BTS because I like what they do and it reflects how I feel. When it no longer does that, I don’t want to support it. For example, this song is all about fucking. I don’t want to fuck anyone and I don’t want to think about anyone fucking anyone else. So why would I listen to a song that’s just about that?
I am still an Army and I still love BTS. I’m just not adding Seven to my playlists 🤷♀️

There’s some great comments about what is happening in the MV and I’m fully in the camp that it is showing that while the world might feel like it is falling down or trying to drown her, he is there ready to support her even when she lashes out at him. He will wait until she is ready, hence the ending of it is her that reaches out her hand and only then does he touch her. Consent baby! He said that the MV is about what people go through in a relationship and, yeah, so much of it can be angry words caused by outside pressures in life, but the real ones in your life are the ones there to support and wait for you. They don’t minimise your anger.
