    People seem to keep missing the fact that Jack Harlow's verse is told in the past tense. This is how I used to be but now it's all about you, it's all about this one person. And if you really listen it's also all about consent. Both JK and Jack Harlow's verses contain lyrics about consent. I think that fits the theme with Jungkook just fine.

      I 100% understand your point and I respect it. Jack’s verses were about Jack, not JK. I get that. But Jack just came across as sleazy and out of place. The language. Fine. JK’s not a 10 year old virgin and anyone that can’t except that needs to call their mom. It’s honestly just the person doing the feature that I don’t care for. But plenty of people like Jack Harlow so it’s obviously just some random person on the internet’s opinion. 💜

      Yes, I think too many sensitive people are not really paying attention to the lyrics and meaning of consent.

    There is an alternate version without Jack Harlow and it has extra beautiful vocals from Jungkook so I recommend this for you. Also, the song is actually about consent and learning to respect women. I think many people get so shocked at first but don’t take a deeper listen. Please notice the lyrics and listen to it again. Jungkook emphasizes the importance of consent: “If you’re ready and if you’ll let me”. In Jack’s verses, he says I “USED TO” act this way with women. Jungkook said the meaning of the song is falling for someone who is unattainable (presumably by distance- which is why JK and Jack are both on the phone speaking to them) and wanting to see them in 3D - in person. Jack is talking about his PAST self and telling this woman who he has fallen for, that he has changed and is following a “New Story”. The lyrics about 1,2,3,4 girls are “I HAD”. Jack ends the song saying, “You ain’t gotta guarantee me nothing…and see if you would touch me”. The song ends on that line because it is meant to be a powerful shift. The woman has all respect and control in that situation. It’s about Jack’s personal growth. Also, note the chess game - JK represents the future and Jack represents the past. JK wins the chess game - it is symbolic and intentional to show a difference in respecting women. Jungkook would never include lyrics like that unless there was a deeper meaning. We all know the incredibly kind, caring, and respectful person he is. I think he definitely wants to reach a bigger audience but he is also trusting that his fanbase knows the true meaning. 💜 Jungkook is such a huge global superstar now! Breaking so many records! He is brave to step out and try different things with his music. I am very proud of him! And honestly these lyrics are all mild compared to the Weeknd for example. And he is the #1 artist in the world on Spotify. I think JK will be there in the future. His talent is on another level- the kind of artist who comes along once in a century! I believe this is only the beginning for Jungkook! 🌟💜

    • @StarCandysz
      @StarCandysz ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Exactly! Finally someone who gets it! The meaning and deep analysis are all over X (twitter) and this is exactly it. The shock factor caused many to misinterpret the song. But I’m proud of Jungkook too because the fact that he places so much significance on consent is something we almost never see. So I just love him more for that. ❤️❤️❤️

    • @hannahbanana770
      @hannahbanana770 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Man, I said the SAME THING in a comment on another video and people got mad at me. One person was like “Umm it’s not that deep.” And I was like “Okay but it actually kind of is? You have to look closer at the lyrics.” JK isn’t dumb, and I don’t think Jack is either, and I don’t think either one would be stupid enough to say anything blatantly disrespectful toward women, especially in this day and age. Nor do I think JK would want to be a part of it. Accusing Jack of being misogynistic or objectifying women is, by extension, accusing JK of the same thing. Because if he were choosing to be on a song with that kind of message, it’d make him an accomplice.

      Yeah he was talking about the past n girls he had. But in the present even thats boring so he went for 2, then 3, then 4. Man went from introducing a bombshell babe one at a time to his dudes like from 4 gfs for example to having fivesomes. Yeah its consent, but he said he's loose. That's present. He's like I'm like this. Im a hoe; you don't have to put out. This is me; if you wanna touch me, it's cool.

    Well, the demographics aren't all teens, as I am one of the many "silver" fans of BTS and true ARMY. Truthfully, I thought Jung Kook's part of the song was sexy, but respectful ("...and if you'll let me..."). I've never been a big fan of explicit rap ... ever... whether Western or non-Western. However, I feel like Jung Kook is testing the waters - he wants to expand his horizons so to speak - and I will support that effort 100%. There IS an alternate version with no Jack Harlow in it, but no MV for it. The Live Performance Video is awesome (it has Jack's verses but he's not there in that one).

    Guys! As a 56 year old lady, not did I once thought any part of this song was womanizing. Truth- women are too often just as horny as the guys and are sometimes worse than men in discussing sex. I love this song, Jake is cool with his lyrics in PAST TENSE, and Jungkook is truly going out of the comfort zone. Does it identify him?? No, but it shows his talent in different music ❤

    The target audience for this song isn’t children, what are you even talking about? Why do people still think it’s just children who listen to BTS 😂 I mean sure, there are. But statistically it’s mostly people in their 20s and 30s that are bts fans. And it’s parent’s responsibility to be checking content beforehand anyway. I mean hello, they are listening to music from grown men in their late 20s/early 30s who curse in songs and have suggestive lyrics. They should be monitoring anyway.

    I really appreciate your take on this! I mostly agree with the guy on the right. I have read though, that there is a deeper meaning hidden in the MV. You see black and white throughout the video, and some people say that JK in white represents a more positive way a guy treats a woman (asking for consent "if you are ready." etc..), and JK in black and Jack's verses represent more aggressive/not healthy side. If that was true, I'm really impressed that JK tackled an important topic (consent in a relationship) in such a catchy song!
    But, like it was said in the reaction, Jack's verses could have been better, done in a more tasteful way. I honestly think that this song had more potential than Seven, but the MV's view count has been much lower than Seven. I don't know if JK cares about being the biggest Pop star (I heard that he's said that he wants to be but not sure if it's true). If he really wants to be that, I'm rooting for him, and hope that JK and his team will push out songs that more people would feel good about supporting. JK is so talented and I wish him the best💖

    Having been to their concerts and following their content for a while now, one would think you know who their target audience is. The majority of BTS' audience is in their 20s and 30s. Their fans are growing older with them and for those who are younger, there is an alternate version with just JK. I think you are trying to make it a bigger problem than it is to be honest. Assuming 18 out of 20 million are kids and saying you respect his choice don't really go hand in hand.

    Great reaction. You made really good points. And on 1st listen I was not a fan of Jack's part. It just didn't really fit with the song. Honestly I prefer the version on the dance practice video (non explicit). It totally omits Jacks part and is filled in with JK's voice. Plus the dance is insane. He doesn't sing those lyrics either. I totally resonate with your criticisms on jack harlow’s verse. It also made me uncomfortable, and regardless of any deep meanings that might be there, from a surface kevel that’s how it’s going to be received and understood by most of the public. Not objectifying women and keeping it “PG-13” is different.

    • @AnaCarolinaRecaldeGomes
      @AnaCarolinaRecaldeGomes ปีที่แล้ว

      I think some People are trying too hard to justify a simple fact. Saying the verse is in the past tense doesn't justify that it is there. And a lot of people want to believe JK would not aprove this kind of thing, and ignore that he can make mistakes too. How else will he learn if we don't show him what is not OK? Support and idol is just accept everything he does? Even if he misses the mark?
      And I think he can talk about sex as long as he wants, but there's misogynistic lyrics there that we can not ignore. Even for JK sake.

He has been moving in that direction for awhile with the tats, piercings in his face, motorcycle, etc which I never liked before but he gives it a sexy aura that I’ve grown to love. Now he’s shirtless dancing and driving ARMYs wild - he’s expanding into the global market as a solo artist and he wants to portray a certain image. I hope that's true...but on the surface it's not clear and I've definitely seen some reactors who are not getting that meaning. i've been holding myself back from saying anything since this song released and seeing ppl's "thoughts" on it, but i'mma rant a bit. first off i'm not a parent, but i personally think it's on the parents to watch out for their kids and what they consume. for one this isn't bts' music, which is seen as more "pg", it's Jk's music. and if u'd already seen the previous members' releases before his, then you'd know that not only are they not like the music they release as bts, but also nothing like each others'. it's his own colour, and if it's not to your taste that's ok. you can skip, you can make sure your kids skip. but it's a bit much trying to censor artists, when they're not promoting violence or anything criminal, because they're super famous and kids might also listen to their stuff? ok... some people have also pointed out how Jack's talking about the past in the "womanizing" bits, but to me personally, even if he wasn't, so what? it's not like he's saying that he's cheating, not to mention he's calling himself a hoe, not the women. i also don't agree w the promoting non-consent? definitely don't agree w that. i'm a woman, don't speak for all women, but if you see the women standing in line next to eo holding hands thing in the context of Jack's verse problematic, then i hope you have that same energy when female artists do the same thing w men in similar contexts. i personally don't have a problem in either case as long as it's not degrading or criminal, but if u genuinely have a prob w both instances, then good for u. that's your stance. i may not agree, but i respect your stance, and you should curate your viewing and listening pleasures according to what makes u comfortable. but if it's only when men do it? well... just saying. people need to stop trying to pigeonhole Jk and bts into what they want them to be. if it's not criminal or causing harm but it's just not your taste, fine. skip the damn thing...! but for the love of all that's good stop trying to turn it into something it's not simply because you don't like it. now some ppl will watch this and prob take some things that were said that maybe they weren't even thinking, and say that that's how j/k is. which is why i think the guy on the left was saying to not turn it into something bigger that it is. have ur opinions, but pls don't state them as facts since u too have an audience.

    Thank you for your honesty. What I hate is that so many reactors and commentors are saying that JK is finally an adult because he said fucking in SEVEN and 3D is all about sex. So all of his songs about social problems, love, loss, joy and sorrow are childish because a real adult songs are soley about having sex, wanting sex, and well Champagn Confetti-- slang for orgasm. Many reactors were gleeful. Welcoming him into adulthood. I am screaming.
    I hate Harlow's misogynistic lyrics. Period the end
    What I really hate is that in pursuit of being THE American pop star, JK has made this choice. This song checks all the boxes to be a successful American pop song. It follows the winning formula. It is formulaic.
    The music is enjoyable. His voice and dancing are the very best. But the vehicle is pedestrian.I wanted more from him.
    JK is such a talent.

      I agree, but I thought maybe he did say somewhere that this is him (but he didn’t write it so not really) maybe it’s the kind of music he likes when he’s not playing music for ARMY on his lives. It’s got me thinking if we really know him or not. I don’t want him to ever put on a face and fool ARMY - that has never been his way. But the songs sort of create an image of a bad boy - which I don’t think we have thought of him as such before … he’s def created a new image of himself so if that was the plan I think he succeeded - sexy JK THE MAN - but we know why we have loved him all this time and it wasn’t only that, it was about his quirky funny side, his sweetness and his beautiful voice and gorgeous looks. Seven as a video was really perfect for him it was funny and cute and romantic - 3D was great for the dancing and showing off his sexy manliness -. I want to see more of the romantic/sweet and maybe a more thoughtful pensive side. We shall See what else he does. !!

    Yes, there's a version without JH. It's the one that will be used on the Korean music show. And the discussion seemed never ending on this one. I agree that it felt like thematically the song doesn't match. It doesn't align. I want to support JK, so I play the alternative version. I feel like currently, the fandom is trying to reach the point where everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. Not sure if we are going to get there, though.

    Hi. Just my two cents. I loved the song. All of it. This is a very innocent song compared to the songs that kids are listening to nowadays. And just like when I was growing up we can not control everything kids, teenagers consume. We can certainly try but …… and womanizing? Not in my opinion. As a woman I think it was funny. Jack was talking about him as man being loose. The fact that JK is not blatantly saying what he wants makes it funny too. Makes you think. Nothing wrong with that.

    Comparing this to Andrew Tate, a known rapist and human trafficker wanted in multiple countries, is absolutely ridiculous. Age range of BTS fans is mostly 20-40+ not little kids. The words are also saying I used to be a man whore, not advocating. Let’s get off our moral high horses. I don’t love the rap lyrics either but half of your discussion is justifying why you don’t like it. It’s fine you don’t like it and you get to have your opinion but was it necessary to talk down on it for half the video? You could have just said I don’t like this part, this is why and moved on.

    A wise singer/songwriter once said: Music is a Universal Language, no one owns a certain genre. So in my opinion, music evolves, don't put an artist in a box, let them express themselves through their music, i mean, when Spice Girls are a thing, no one criticize their lyrics not until youngsters in that era became adults. 😂 JK is already an adult, the music is catchy, it depends on the parents if they allow kids to listen in this kind of music.

    Finally, this is a validation that I am not crazy, I am right about my gut feeling about this song. I have to say that I have tremendous respect for this channel for not being afraid of a backlash after expressing your true feelings about the song. I watched about 20 YT reaction channels for this song, and out of the 20 (most of them do not even know what ABG means), only 2 channels (including this channel) were brave enough to say the potential negative implications that this song implies. A lot of people claimed that there was a deeper meaning, it was in the past, JH is talking about himself. But a lot of people also claimed that on the surface, the meaning does not paint a good picture about women. The vocals, the song, the vibe, the choreography, and the production were well put together, no doubt. I am not a lyricist nor a musician, I am just someone who appreciates music, however, for me, the rap did not tie in with the song, he basically and randomly overused "ook" for at least five of his lines, when other rappers can rhyme their raps even if the ending sounds are different. Looking at the meaning behind the lyrics sparked more internal arguments if I would like the song or not. I chose not to join the media frenzies on its first 24 hours of release. I totally did not like JH's part of the song, I did not stream it by choice because I cannot force myself to listen to his JH part. Instead, I streamed 7 to support JK. I was quiet and did not attempt to influence anyone not to support the song. I waited 24 hours later to compare the stats. If I am correct, Seven had 35M views while 3D had 12.5M. Seven went to number 1 for Hot 100 while 3D is #9 as the highest peak. Tell me I am not the only one overreacting to this song. The song could've made it to #1 without the rap. The ARMY and non-ARMY could've easily brought this song to number #1 but it did not happen. I am just saying. Again, thank you for your honest reaction. It meant a lot to me. I truly enjoy your conversations. The reactions/conversations reactions are informational, I learned a lot more from the production perspective, they are not forced or fake reactions for the sake of the viewers. It is very factual yet respectful to all.

    There is another version (alternate ver) without Jack, just like with Seven clean version i think JK wanted one "clean" version for 3D as well so that ppl who are still getting used to this side from BTS digest it better. I really do agree with everything u were saying, Jacks lyrics, the soft vs hard approach, well everything except the major kids factor that irked me. I watched enough of ur content to know how u truly feel about BTS and that is why it really suprised me that u came with the same old allegation that 95% of the target or consumption audience are 11-15 year old kids.....With this song i think more mature ppl will be more likely to listen to it, especially with its 2001 mv and sound style and general approach. With that in mind the rap part kind of makes sense cuz its reminiscent of that era, that we learned to appreciate more sophisticated rap since than is another story.
    JK is dropping his debut album GOLDEN on November 3rd with the title tracks dropping on the same day. We should get 6 - 8 new tracks, so i am really excited to see what genre he will mix in next and if there will be vocal features. I had some worries if the general public will downplay JKs talent and only see him as someone with shallow sexual songs (which i am not saying they are) like they did with BTS and their very poppy english singles, but that has yet to be seen since he has a lot new songs planed. Gen Zs or the end of the millennials, and they had a band instead of a DJ, and most of the songs they played were really old-school - stuff from the 70s and the 80s! And although, of course, the older people obviously loved that music but all the young people were totally digging it too which really surprised me. It definitely wasn’t a wedding where they were going to play seven or 3-D.

    However, for you to make such egregious statement comparing jack verse to drugging women, and Andrew Tate, a predator that is facing human trafficking charges is disgusting.
    In addition, you state that jk fans are children. Like be for real he is a 26 year old man and for you to perpetuate a narrative use to discredit BTS onto a member because you did not like a feature on his solo song is Very disappointing and problematic🤷🏽‍♀️

    He is the producer that has been producing Jungkook's new stuff. He works for HYBE US part now.
    He'll never make his money back from Taylor.
    As for Jack Harlow's part, it's corny and doesn't vibe with Jungkook to most Army's. He's like most American rapper's and very disrespectful to women. Army's don't care for this.
    Scooter put them together and again he failed.
    Another thing, it's not all teens that listen to Jungkook, as you've seen,most Army's are very diverse. I'm a Silver Army, over 60 and there are alot of us.😊 We stand behind our Golden Makena and support him in all his music.

    I would like to have a genuine conversation about this, because I don’t have many ARMY friends to bounce this thought off.
    Jack Harlow’s rap, yes tells a story of his past self who USED to date multiple women but is NOW committed to one.
    1.) my first thought is, “wow! Are we as ARMY promoting the message/narrative by supporting this?”
    When BTS has had multiple run-ins with using anti-feminist lyrics in the PAST. It kind of feels a little salt in the wound to bring this narrative back into their realm of music. Like it’s one thing to say a woman is sexy and you wanna be with her, and then saying one woman wasn’t enough. I needed two, three, etc..
    2.) had this been RM, Suga, or J-Hope that rapped these lyrics, wouldn’t they get crucified so much worse? And people saying “oh that’s just Jack Harlow’s style” isn’t that kind of giving him a free pass? Or saying that’s just western music. It’s giving “boys will be boys”.
    And no I’m not a Jack Harlow hater y’all, he has some great bangers and collabs in the past. But overall tonality and lyrical messaging felt like a missed opportunity with me.

    • @subobing3551
      @subobing3551 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree 💯. It actually bothers me that some people want to explain away JH’s rap and say it’s about consent and the past. Who gives a s*** what it means to you, I’ve been around awhile and I know he’s not building up womens self esteem here and you can even see it in the faces of he WOMEN LINED UP -,they look like they wish they weren’t there! I think for those of us that have loved BTS’s music for so long and have felt so good about our choice of loving BTS, because of the fact that their lyrics are more intelligent, and don’t degrade women that this seemed like such a blow, I didn’t really understand after all of that why this was chosen as a feature. Was it more important for JK to appeal to people who have not been BTS fans and who didn’t know him and find himself being liked by more men and or women who don’t care about the music that they listen to. I had said this in another chat somewhere But I got tickets to go see JK at the Global Citizen festival and one of the big things that I had to do to get these free tickets was do all of these acts to bring awareness about world problems like - helping women around the world to become more educated and have better healthcare and be able to live safely etc. because women and children are the ones who suffer the most in any kind of disaster or problem within a culture. So I just found it very interesting that right after Global Citizen festival, this song came out with this guy talking down about women and that was OK with JK. I know he’s young still and I know he’s trying to find his way alone and I know that maybe one day he’ll understand and maybe one day he’ll even speak out to ARMY about it. But I’m guessing that he’s not ready for that right now. He just wants to put his music out there and Show us some good stages and hope that we enjoy it and that he gets recognition around the world for what he does best which is sing and dance. But I also think he is a very good songwriter, and I hope that someday he feels comfortable and gives himself enough room and time to really write some songs that have some deep personal meaning to him because I think he’s really good at it.

Actually, I listened to the lyrics and understood what Harlow was actually saying. Don't like the main version of the song, then listen to the alternate version. But don't sit there being Tipper Gore of the ban gansta rap era! Gansta rap was not created for that audience. I have no problem with Jack Harlow and I keep reading about how in Jacks part he is trying to say he used to be a womanizer and he is not any longer...bc he uses the 'I used to'. What ever-- but no matter his message, I felt like his part was not necessary or even pertinent to the song, tbh I felt like his part took you out of the songs vibe.. did not contribute anything to the song and even changed what JKs part is about.. for me, JK was saying he wants to "do" this person but only if THEY are ok with it, it is about wanting to be with someone but with their consent .. Jack.. again... what exactly is he trying to say? I love the alternate version by JK better, it does not have Jacks part in it and JK does a lot more ad lib-ing .. the vibe, the beat stays thru it all and it makes it even catchier --at least this is my opinion

    The lyrics exude sensuality, eroticism, and the desire to take things to a more serious level with his love interest. This creates a lot of curiosity about the message he wants to convey, as not everyone knows what 3D means. As a quick explanation, the song is an invitation to leave Sexting (Sensual chatting through social media) behind, and actually have intimacy in the three dimensional world, the one we live in.

      As for the reason why I said "as an Asian woman", is caused by the term ABG (Asian baby girl/gangster). The term "ABG" is problematic as it perpetuates cultural stereotypes and sexualization, which is a common and negative experience for many Asian women.
      Let me quote an Asian American twitter ARMY(TEA FUNNY)'s take on this matter: "A white man rapping about Asian girls, while Asian women have been fetishized and infantilized by white men for years. Asian women face violence from white men because of that kind of fetishization (not saying JH is necessarily fetishizing Asian women/ABGs). But that’s why Asian people could be offended. It’s also why many white men specifically only want Asian women as their “type”- they think Asian women are submissive and obedient, Asian women are stereotyped to be these docile lotus blossom caricatures that white men can dominate. So a white men asking ABGs to be cute for him can rub people the wrong way because of the history of being fetishized by white men. There’s even a term for the type of white man who pursues Asian women because he fetishizes them called “yellow fever”. I don’t think ABG is used as a derogatory term anymore and the meaning has since evolved to an entirely different meaning than the original which was Southeast Asian women who were gang affiliated because they lived in oppressive communities that forced them into that life.
      But the fetishization of Asian women is a huge reason why people could be offended that Jack Harlow, a white man, is talking about ABGs, especially on a track with an Asian man. "
      Again, you don't have to feel the same way as I did. Vice versa.

Maybe you should check first how many artist are under Hybe America which Scooter is head of ( and Jungkook is NOT part of). You have to cross all of them as well too.

    I thought I was the only one. But to be honest I agree with you. I respect Jungkook's choice, it's his call, but I grew up listening to BTS' rapline and this is my introduction to Jack Harlow - and I don't......really like his verse. I'm the 21st Century kind of girl and I do love War of Hormone but His verse is ain't it 😅

    Sorry but this song is not "all good." For everyone who likes Harlow's part, there a 2 who dislike it: "It's offensive, weak, took away from JK, etc.". Listen to the alternative version and you realize Harlow wasn't needed, JK vocals kill on the alt. version. JK fans have been working tirelessly to make his debut a success. We saw problems immediately. Army and the gp split in their support. 3D YT views took a week to match what Seven did in 24 hours. JK fans had to stream harder and spend more on cd's to chart 3D well. In this business, songs/albums are successful only when the fans and gp are equally enthusiastic. It didn't help that a JK featured single dropped some weeks after 3D. JK fans splintered when 3D didn't hit like Seven, but Seven is a perfect combination of writing, production, and vocals. Latto's rap, though saucy, didn't offend and works perfectly in the clean and explicit versions. Someone suggested 3D would fair better with the alternate as the original and Harlow's as a remix. I agree. Due to the 3D boycott, Seven's 1B streams Spotify record is in danger. Streams for all 3 songs (Seven, 3D, & TOO MUCH) are steadily falling. I'm almost certain that very few of the people who love 3D have streamed or purchased the cd. Casual fans are good, but active fans make the difference globally since the entertainment business, is a for profit business. Harlow's contribution did not bring in enough new customers to offset the ones who walked away, unfortunately. This JK fan is exhausted. Help!
