What did you think to the Kingbolen Ediag Elite? After a few more goes it seems to do the job pretty well - I'm sure we will continue to use it on the channel! Thanks for watching
Like Pete said it is convenient to bring along if you are travelling and also it will be more up to date because it can download updates directly through your phone.
The little phone app ones are a bit of hassle but ideal for people like me who doesn’t do tons of work on my car. It’s just for info and nice and small.
@@slashnburndotcodotukit’s a shame the various manufacturers won’t share the software with diag companies as buying multiple diag systems is very expensive I’m glad I’m no longer in the job
Now its set up and youre signed in it will be easy to use. Download a few cars youre likely to use and then when you go to use it its plug in and go.. Looks similar to the TopDon one I have, similar menus but I agree it seems to have a lot of steps to get to what you need in comparison...
@@JonCoupland I have my one in the van all the time, handybto have. Went to use it today and the licence has expired 🙄 Costs the same as buying a new one 😖
Thank you for your additional video. Have a look at Tom tomorrow, diagnosis King boland, I'm not impressed. I have tried one before too much risk of access to personal data 😮
Seems absolutely fine to me. If you can only afford £50 or don't want an all-singing all-dancing multi-hundred-quid thing that you will only use once, why not? You can't have something like this without downloading an app and data file. It needs some sort of display and input at least. And no, I don't trust apps either. It seems almost all of them seem to "need" access to your contacts, photos, gps, camera etc. You can usually lock them out in the app options on Android.
I suppose it is good for those who like doing stuff on their phones but I don't. I particularly dislike anything involving security codes by text message as I live in a rural location with no phone signal. This forces me to do such stuff at places with public wifi.
Agreed. I avoid unnecessary apps / downloads. Just more typical modern life BS that we don't need. Plug in an old school one any day! I have the PO141 lambda 2 fault on my 451 to resolve currently. Watched Auto Knight's video yesterday which starts with a simple lambda change and then gets more involved with broken exhaust parts and seized bolts etc! My exhaust has been blowing slightly for years (particularly noticeable at start up) so I would imagine I have the same corroded bolts / broken exhaust bits........ Have you had the lambda sensor fault
Do you not have the heater circuit stored fault code? I have always had this and it shows the recall work has been done to prevent fire risk on the circuit. I have deleted it but it comes back on. Oh and I noticed for some reason your smart comes up on the details as being orange which is weird as its meant to be black. I thought all smarts were registered with their tridion colour. This one an exception I wonder? Edit: found another night orange, its also registered as orange.. its a scam! Edit 2: found another night orange its registered as black! Its on Ebay at the moment.
@@JonCoupland interesting. regarding the heater shut off valve. the recall dates according to Mercedes are WME4513322K419029 to WME4514802K802780 2010-08-01 to 2014-06-30 The work changes the shut off valve and it records as redundant. P20B1 code I believe.
It's not too often that you would get a chance to wind up one of those scam callers whilst making a video about something completely different. You both missed a trick when the phone rang. It would have been great, and probably more interesting (no offence meant), to see how entertaining your dad could really be whilst making a scammer think they were on to a winner with a potential new customer for whatever crap they were trying to sell. Moral of this story - Be prepared to wind scam callers at all times. 😬

I have a similar tool. They are very nice to have. So much better than the old ones that would just flash and you had to count the times it flashed.
Yes!
Like Pete said it is convenient to bring along if you are travelling and also it will be more up to date because it can download updates directly through your phone.
Yes that's a very good point! I've used it a few times more and it's been useful
I imagine you have to download it's brand on first connection

Yes I agree 👍
I have so many diagnostic machines from my years of being a mechanic I could open a shop and none of them do all vehicles no matter what they promise
We have also found that 😂
As a 40 year mechanic/diag tech, the gaps in capabilities between different tools has always been a major frustration.

Oh that's annoying. From what I can tell this is lifetime update

It seems to be a good tool you can keep it in the car
Yes that's a good idea. Small enough just to pop in the glovebox
You should try it in all your cars!
That's the plan 😊👍

A balanced review and reply - i like it!
does the Kingbolen include Chery A3/J3 M11?
I believe it does everything but you need to download the packs
Chery doesn`t appear on the makers list on mine, sorry...

Yes. I was a bit dubious. Hopefully now it's set up I can just plug in and go

All 450s were registered as Tridian colour. Most 451s are registered as panel colour 😊👍 - nope, no heater faults ever presented themselves

Get it on.

Now ... Maybe. Just maybe there was a bit of filming 'cut out' whereby Dad did have a bit of fun with the caller 😉
@@JonCoupland Well at least that's good to know. Next time though, don't edit it out, and make sure your dad is on top form with the wind up !
