    FABULOUS video with great vibes. I agree with you on being alone, because people can be weird, and mean, not all people. I still like interacting with people, even if they don’t want to talk. I also love being in a truck by myself because it’s my own private space to think, and to unwind. Love your edges, eyes, and tattoos. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

    I was in the military 20 years, then I went to law school and became a lawyer, but trucking has always interested me as a person that enjoys being solo and alone. I just think I'd really enjoy it. Appreciate you sharing your experiences.

    Relationships are tough when you're OTR, I have a BM to prove it lol but we have a beautiful little girl together so it's not all bad. If your back hurts from driving get your stretching in after driving and set your seat position so your posture is good, I use to have shoulder pain from driving but I sit way different now and always stretch after a long drive, I'm trying to stay healthy for when I get to retiring age so I can enjoy the fruits of my labor. Keep doing your thing though

I did that and they set you up for failure. One good company since your obviously okay with Automatics, is Carroll Fulmer out of Groveland, Fl. Only reason I left os because I cannot stand Automatics lol. The company is way awesome.

At least i have a car thats paid for so i can park the truck while im there. I used to take ht to visit my daughter but now that she's graduated high school and moved out of state for college, i take ht both SA and NY. I wouldn't recommend owner op. Now I have never been an owner operator. My father in law has. With today's freight levels, I certainly wouldn't recommend it. I also talk to various owner ops that ask if my company is hiring. As a company driver, you don't have to worry about repairs, fuel costs, truck payments, the 3PL's undercutting the industry. You have to play 2 different roles. You have to business savy along with driving. Your phone will blow up at all times. Your equipment selection is also very important. The new trucks suck. There's no getting around that. The older trucks are more reliable, but bouncier. Depending on where you operate, you'll need the right transmission also. If you're doing any mountain driving, you should look at a 13 speed at least, and yes a manual. I would do at least 6 years before going owner operator. For me I am a company P&D Driver at a LTL Freight Company that's Teamster affiliated. My pay is $27 an hour, and overtime after 8 hours at time and a half. It's double time on weekends. I flirted with the idea of owner operator when I first started, but I'd rather be here. I make more take home pay than most owner operators. The most stable owner operator jobs around me is asphalt, rock, sand, and dirt. Basically dump trucks. The most lucrative is oversize loads. That would require you to get into flatbedding. We have a lot of rail intermodal freight around here also. Containers suck also. I know you being from Florida, there's ship ocean freight. You should get your TWIC Card for that. You should also get all the endorsements. My company requires all 3 endorsements. Also HAZMAT Tanker drivers also make a lot of money. A lot of them are over 6 digits per year. I'd recommend you get experience in all different types of trucking before you get into owner operator status. I am from the Midwest. I own my own house. I don't have to worry about paying my insurance. My company pays for that. I go home every night with my wife, kids, and dogs. When I clock out, I am done with work. When I am at work, I don't focus on home. I am a Marine Corps Infantry Combat Disabled Veteran. I am at 90% service connection. I don't always like people either. You're new and 22 going on 23. Don't feel pressured by the rat race. I am 38 and going on to 40. Just do your thing and get some experience. Move on to your next quest, and find that long term job. There's a lot you can do in trucking. You're a rookie. Owner Operator always sounds appealing until you have to do it. You like the solitude, but your phone will be blowing up all the time. You're going to be chasing down loads left and right. All you will be is your business. Being an owner operator is learning how to work fast, and line up the next loads. You'll have to deal with shady shippers that may not pay you. Expect people to try to screw you over. You're young. You don't realize how the world really is until you're close to 30, and even than I still learn more as I go. I think I made this long enough, but give it some thought.

      @chilidog1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😂😂🤣

    • @abraynor84
      @abraynor84 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dennisaldrich536 Here's what I know. I know the industry is being dominated by 3PLs (3rd Party Logistics) companies. They buy the frieght at low prices. The owner operators are finding less profitable frieght. The freight isn't enough to pay for the fuel, and the operating costs. Picking freight that makes you run in the red isn't a good long-term business plan. Also there are far less owner operators today because of extra regulations. The speed limiters are bad because it makes the company less appealing. It doesn't increase safety. Let's put it this way. Your running a company that does reefer loads. Your equipment is a 1999 Peterbilt 379 with a 18 speed Eaton Fuller. You run a Caterpillar C15. The trailer is a split axle 53' trailer. The reason: You can run paper logs, get up and down mountains fairly easy, and you can distribute the load easier. The speed limit is 75 mph, and your competition is a mega carrier that's running automatic transmissions that are limited 65 mph, have elogs, has all the electronic bells and whistles, and uses the standard tandem trailer. New regulations cripple owner operators. The ones pushing them are the mega carriers to eliminate competition. These are some of the reasons I wouldn't go owner operator. I went Teamster because I have good pay, benefits, job security, and I don't have to worry about the levels of freight. I am guaranteed 40 hours. I get paid $27 an hour, and overtime after my eighth hour. If my take home pay is around $50,000 a year, I am doing better than a lot of owner operators because the money made is going back into the business. The only owner operators making a lot of money are niche trucking fields. I only encourage people not to jump in without thinking. If someone is ademate to be an owner operator, get into niche fields and get your training paid for.

    How much experience do you have? Once you get 1 year experience in, I'm pretty sure I could get you in at my company and you can make good money over here if you are a serious driver who wants to get paid. I pull 2,800 gross this week and I didn't even work hard. I'm an experienced driver so 3,700 miles is a light week for me and maybe not you but you can make good money if you are about your business. Some people don't want to work that hard so everyone is different.
