    Hey, everyone! This video was devised and put together by yours truly. I also provided the commentary you hear throughout.
    I must say how much of an absolute joy this was to work on. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a project in some time. I feel like I’ve become very well acquainted with each of the players as I weaved all of their narratives together. Kyle, Mikael, and Ben (the noobs) were all excellent sports throughout. Hollie was endlessly entertaining, and I’m very sorry to say that many of her inebriated antics will never see the light of day. You can use your imagination, though. Josh was fun to just watch, even though his video quality was the worst of the bunch by far (I did my best with what I had, I assure you). Finally, Frank has never been anything less than a consummate professional in the time I’ve known him. He is, in fact, not a cheater. So he claims, anyway…
    I want to send massive thanks to these six individuals for allowing me to humiliate them in various ways for the pleasure of strangers on the internet. They're all champions, in my book.
    Thanks so much for watching! And if you like the sound of my voice, check out my channel to hear more of it.

    This is top of the line content. As someone with thousands of hours in both DOS and Unity daggerfall, seeing all the Daggerfall newbie-isms in action and the actual devs of the game themselves being absolutely no help beyond "i don't remember lol good luck" is comedy gold. Kudos to everyone involved especially Double Negative for putting this together so brilliantly (and somehow coherently in spite of the alcohol infused chaos).

    Daggerfall is such an amazing game. So ahead of its time. It's the only game I've ever played that made me feel like I was just another person living in a fantasy world instead of being the center of the universe. I love that the game can be cruel and merciless but also so goddamn satisfying once you come to terms with its archaic game mechanics. And Eric Heberling is a great composer! I regularly listen to Arena/Daggerfall OSTs as well as the OST for Death Gate. All in all I'm super hyped for TWR but I'll happily wait another decade for it to come out since I can just keep making new characters in Morrowind and Daggerfall in the mean time!

    • @OnceLostGames

      Well, i wouldn't say it's amazing. It's a decent dungeon delving video game but the dungeons are way to damn random making many of them unplayable on the first time.
      Many times i had to close the game, sit it out for a day and then start it up again after i had clearer thoughts, one forced me to use cheat codes to find my objective, a child, which was situated under water protected by an enemy that would have killed me in a single shot. My reward was 71 gold after 6 hours spend inside a dungeon. You could do main quest but I've never touched it personally.
      It's a decent game.

      @@nurgleschosen8145 You got to level your skills properly. Teleport is a great friend. And you can place notes on the map to help you. Always go to corners first. This way you know overall how far into the maze you are. Stick to extreme left or extreme right and keep going all the way on the edge till you explore all of the outer rim of the dungeon. Then work you way in from there. Placing notes on the map screen can help you identify where you already explored. So place those notes to remind you of spots that are safe or cleared. Type in names of the are if you have to. Eg. "1st floor room 01" "hallway 01" " basement room 10" etc you get the idea. By labeling everything you don't need to worry about getting lost.

      @@OnceLostGames Pickpocketing rats should be put into more depth. Yes Rats have no pockets to pick but inside their bung hole is where you might find a key or something. Daggerfall let you do this but it didn't have much depth to it. When I see a giant rat and want to practice pickpocketing, there should be rat-related items like dead people's jewlry in its gut. That would be uncomfortable to pickpocket while the rat is alive but the furry community would go for it.

    You don't know how excited I am for this game. Daggerfall is the one game where I feek like it's an actual RPG unlike other games. Making a character with a cool backstory, unique motives, strengths and weaknesses, goals is what I love so much about daggerfall. Being able to go anywhere in the huge world and make my own store is so unique, even if the world is essentially the same, everyone is gonna have a different story.
    I just started a new playthrough today, had another strength based character who got really well known by the knightly order. For thjs character, I pretended it wasn't even in the timeline of daggerfall, but many years before as I didn't do the main quest. Due to all of that and being well known, he was called to the Imperial Capitol to work for the blades, he trained really hard. Eventually he was sent back to daggerfall but an unfortunate accident happened by a wizard which caused him to swap bodies. Now the character is stuck inside a female thief, no body to go back to as her (originally his) died inside the storm. Stuck back on daggerfall, fresh with no one knowing she was the knight that all the land knew.
    Stories like these are why I love dagger fall, I'm really looking forward to making more stories like this in wayward realms. I just have 1 request
    If there are dogs, LET US PET THEM!

    A suggestion for a part 2.
    A. Each player uses the same mods so they have an equal chance. No cheaters allowed.
    B. Each player has to clear the entire starter dungeon with an identicle character that has magic and fighting abilities. This way they learn all the basics of how to play the game.
    C. Each player then chooses a unique build so that each player can provide a different presentation on the same challenge. No Custom Classes.
    D. Each player then takes on an enormous difficult dungeon that they have to clear out on a time trial. Leaving to a nearby city for repairs and buying new weapons allowed.

    Word of advice to noobs having trouble with the starter dungeon. Put your character near a ceiling (preferably just under where a door goes) and hold the jump button down. Go to sleep and you will wake up with higher jump skill.
    Do the same with running. Run around in circles to practice running. Go to sleep and you will have increased running skill. Keep doing this until you are able to outrun most monsters. This will now give you a way to back out of any fight you are losing and run to a nice safe spot on the map to rest your character to heal up. Save often, and see if you can sneak up on an enemy by going into sneak mode to get a cheap hit on an enemy's back that will do critical damage. If not, then run. You will probably be better waiting for enemy to come to you and then you strike AS they approach so that they walk into your punches or slashes. Since there is virtually no AI to enemies they walk towards you like the terminator and you can just punch them in the face as they walk into the attack. Having high running speed lets you out-manuever them. To boost your sneaking skill keep sneaking around and see if that helps. Being good at sneaking makes it harder for enemies to detect you. If they are harder to detect you, more options open up for you to run and hide so you can rest to heal. Noisy people that don't sneak will have harder time to rest since the game doesn't let you rest unless there are no enemies near by. My advice to noob is be a redguard warrior since Redguard have naturally good athleticism (quick feet) and this matters because you want to run out of the dungeon. Take every encounter slow. Only run after you are detected. Because there is a chance to get that critical hit in if their back is turned to you.

    Well that was fun! I often wonder what you all were thinking when you made that 'tutorial' dungeon. The imp in particular is so rough! Even if you got a silver weapon during character creation, you might get unlucky with your RNG and get zotted. It's immune to normal weapons, but it looks like not punches and kicks? That's interesting. The rest is challenging too, and not particularly educational I think. Even if you reach the exit of the dungeon, there are actually many optional paths too!
    I know a lot of the dungeons were procedurally generated, but was that one? I also know that the procgen wasn't perfect, and so there are 'leaks' where you can get outside of the world in many dungeons. ^.^;;

    • @geoffchurchill5492

    A starter area that could be considered a game in its own right. the way to go, I believe. shame so few did. At least not on the same scale. (Privateer's Hold is, what, 1 percent of the full gameworld? :) )

    Having watched John Romero play through Doom, I will say, well, this is not that type of video.... Granted John has a good memory and he knows the ins and outs of the Doom engine.

    I was just watching some videos on daggerfall and found out about your studio! I didn't play daggerfall back in the day, but it has all the mechanics that I've personally always felt the newer elder scrolls games have been missing. Very excited to hear about your project!

      Glad to have you following along! If you are interested, we highly recommend playing Daggerfall Unity, which ports Daggerfall into the unity engine, fixes the bugs, adds a bunch of quality of life improvements, and already has a ton of mods so you can customize your gameplay experience.
      It will give you a great idea of what to expect from WR.

    Will wayward realms ever come to ps5 or Xbox series X?

    • @queuedjar4578
      @queuedjar4578 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      PS5/XBX are basically today's mid range pc's so if Wayward Realms can run good on middle grade pc's there is a chance. The only problems I can see are either UI or control problems if keybinds are anything like Daggerfall's control scheme.
