I knew the Gene Pitney version when I was a boy and never really liked it. After hearing Dusty's interpretation I understand the song, love it & even get tearful when listening. It's another level!
Have always loved Gene Pitney 's version, but Dusty is right up there with him. A duet with those 2 greats doing this song! Wow. Can only imagine how great it would have sounded. If only.....
Efortless performance! I think she was one of the best singers in the world. She just hits notes with no build up. Perfect pitch and no straining. RIP lass x x From a fan. x
Strange isn't it?one song from Dusty is never enough, once I start listening, Bam! I'm hooked and I'm searching for her songs and interviews for hours & hours. God how I miss yer lass. R.I.P Dusty, ever your's Ray ♥ X X X
This is yet another Bacharach-David cover Dusty sang that rivaled the original hit by Gene Pitney. She just never ceases to amaze me and each time I hear her I fall madly in love with that voice all over again!.
"...and I hope I remember it too" and then she sings it flawlessly. I have now rediscovered the great Dusty Springfield. I had the Dusty in Memphis recording, but did not know her early career. Started on TH-cam and heard "I only want to be with you" and remembered that from my childhood, yet did not know who sang it. Then I heard, "You don't have to say you love me". Simply brilliant artistry. Dusty, that VERY rare singer who could actually SING and convey meaning. No computer to keep you in tune etc. I so miss great music with melodies. RIP Dusty.
Class, taste, style, talent, intelligence, and grace all rolled up into one beautiful package...Dusty Springfield. What more could you ask for? Unfortunately, when they made her they broke the mold. She was one of a kind.
I think that,s a fantastic thought . Maybe a duet with Gene would have been a good thing . To see them both singing and smiling together.Just like in the video with Marc Almond "Something,s got a hold of my heart." My own opinion is many talented singers and bands both in Britain and America were overshadowed by the supergroups ie. The Beatles and The Stones .Her music with The Pet Shop Boys proved her talent beyond doubt many years later in her career , her voice as sweet as ever , for me she could sing as well as the best of them today.A true example of Pop music of the 60,s that will survive for decades to come .Oh Dusty you would never have got 24 hours away from me ! No way!
I've been a fan of this really great lady for many years but hadn't heard her version of this song. Whatever Dusty does is always superb and, with the Pet Shop Boys, amazing!
A rather sad, poignant , and moving ballad by Bacharach and David , in a distinctly Mexican tone , beautifully sung Dusty Springfield . A favourite of mine ; well done all !
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR - MEEE TOO ! I never heard this song until this year so it's like brand new from the record store. I love it. What a wonderful person she is. God Bless her.
She could rock and jazz too....many good singers exist still now,but artists like dusty springfield, diana ross ,amy winehouse, ronnie spector ecc. Have something of special about talent
This music ,l call The Classics! We will never see the likes of this music and talent again! We were truly blessed,to have lived in this generation. Peace!
I love this song, she has a great voice. Not really sure how anyone could dislike this song. I'm 26 and I like it. The music to this song always reminds me of "Down In The Boondocks" by Billy Joe Royal.
Best Britain has ever produced.
For my money, she's the greatest female vocalist the UK has yet to produce.
Amy Winehouse and her.... they were the best!
Absolutely.
Ever produced, surely lol
(born in England, but that is where it stopped) Good auld Irish girl M.I.C.B.O'Brien
U Bet....
Dusty could sing the phone book, she was the champ,🤩😍😃😃
Only Gene Pitney and Dusty Springfield could bring out the emotions and feelings in this song. It can't be done any better.
I knew the Gene Pitney version when I was a boy and never really liked it. After hearing Dusty's interpretation I understand the song, love it & even get tearful when listening. It's another level!
When i discovered Dusty my life had an upgrade! Thank you Dusty for being existed!
How could anyone give this girl a thumb down !
She helped make a era.
Live. No auto tone. Flawless. Pay attention kids. This is what a star vocalist can do.
I never heard of Dusty when I was young. She owns this song. I wish we had singers of her calibre today.
Dusty was a great influence in my youth.
There is no other female singer like her. What style and class!!! R.I.P. She looked Fabulous!!!!

Definitely true
One of the greatest vocals of our time!
She had something a little more than most of us. ❤
This is yet another Bacharach-David cover Dusty sang that rivaled the original hit by Gene Pitney. She just never ceases to amaze me and each time I hear her I fall madly in love with that voice all over again!.
Much better than Gene Pitney - she was peerless.
@@kyawkyawwin1 Better than Pitney's version? LOL. What were you drinking before you posted that?
@@kyawkyawwin1 You can't be serious. I love Dusty, but this is not better than Pitney. Not even close!
@@queenofsparrows5497I believe they were equals, white soul-mates on a pedestal, with Lulu & a few others close by.
Listening to Dusty in 2023...what a soulful and expressive voice she had.
Have you seen her Some of your lovin , video ?
I’m listening March 2024. Always returning to hear her AGAIN

Before those even were great performances w her brother's band, the Springfields, such as SILVER THREADS & GOLDEN NEEDLES...
Dusty's hand gestures are so timeless and elegant while performing her songs-- I could just watch and listen to her forever-- such a beautiful woman.
Her hand gestures are very special - agreed!
Other artists that have this special gift:
Bette Midler
Judy Garland
Diana Ross
If I don't go wrong dusty springfield was a musician too
This is a wonderful, subtle, charismatic performance. If it wasn’t for the Internet, I would have never heard it.
One of most beautiful and talented european(and not only)singers
I've always loved this song never been more moved in by this version she really makes you believe it! What an unparalleled magnificent vocal she has
No one could bring out the emotional content of a song like Dusty! Love her!
Class, taste, style, talent, intelligence, and grace all rolled up into one beautiful package...Dusty Springfield. What more could you ask for? Unfortunately, when they made her they broke the mold. She was one of a kind.
Greatest vocalist in the world immaculate performance
A truly great "live performance" by Dusty..... priceless!!!
I appreciate Dusty more & more just how good she was as I get older and my observations are so much sharper.

A great song by Burt and performed in a way only Dusty could do. To watch and hear Dusty sing this song brings a tear to my eyes. God bless you Dusty!

Class,what a singer she was,
Dusty was the greatest of them all.......and still remains the greatest female voice in popular/r&r/soul music in the last 60 years
think judith durham was better
I've been a fan of this really great lady for many years but hadn't heard her version of this song. Whatever Dusty does is always superb and, with the Pet Shop Boys, amazing!
No British singer since can hold a candle....................
With that gorgeous and sultry vocal timbre and that hands's gesture, she could work as actress...if she would had worked acting
A rather sad, poignant , and moving ballad by Bacharach and David , in a distinctly Mexican tone , beautifully sung Dusty Springfield . A favourite of mine ; well done all !
Yes. Dusty was one in a million.
Each song she sang, especially those of Burt & Carole, she put her heart and soul into and seemed to live the song.
so relevant to my life 👌my now husband rescued me from an abusive situation and treats me like a queen . ive never looked back ....
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR - MEEE TOO ! I never heard this song until this year so it's like brand new from the record store. I love it. What a wonderful person she is. God Bless her.
