      We will all be taught a hard lesson soon, by the end of 2050 the EU will maybe make up 7-9% of the World Economy (currently 16-17%) thanks to a few countries in South America, Africa and especially in Asia who are developing very fast and creating a power shift on Global Stage.
      Maybe by then the whole of Europe gets their shit together and learns to bundle their powers for the best possible outcome for it's citizens.

    A big problem I have notice is, not much people seem to be reminding Brexiteers who still think they can trade with the rest of the world, the rest of the world wanted to trade with you because you market yourself as "gateway" to EU. The moment you cease to be EU, that will end. So far I only heard Prof. Michael Dougan mention it. People still seem to be under the impression of having great trade deals that doesn't involve selling themselves on the cheap.

    • @biocapsule7311
      @biocapsule7311 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +scarshotsTV The concept of being the "gateway": when you are just UK, you negotiate with every other country as a market of 66 million. With UK within the EU single market, you negotiate as the excess point to a market 508 million. Which do you think is the more powerful negotiating position? And it goes both ways. The world at large didn't simply trade 'with' you, they trade 'through' you, into EU and vice versa.
      I can assure you the moment you crash out, Portugal, Spain and France will be poise to take over that advantageous spot, since they are geographically positioned. My guess is Portugal getting the largest share. If you loose that position, you are never getting the same amount back even if you eventually crawl back into the single market.
      And to think, my country have to work so hard to push for a single market in our own bloc while you so casually throw yours away.

      Janne Laitinen Yes, giving Northern Ireland back to Ireland would indeed be a very easy solution. Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment.
      The problem is that half of the population don't want a unified Ireland - they want to remain British and the North to remain part of the UK. So you can't 'give back' the North. The only way that will happen is when there is a referendum and a majority - preferably a significant majority - votes for unification.

    Prime Minister May is not correct when she says she is abolishing free movement of non-citizens in the UK. What she means is she is abolishing free movement of UK citizens in the EU and hoping to put controls on who enters the UK looking for work. She must still deal with how she will control where "tourists" will go in the UK once their tourist VISAs run out.(And that will eat up money, as those workers will try to hide, which means they will also need to not pay taxes.)
    May has inherited the negatives of a employment system that depends upon cheap and willing workers from poor countries in a nation that does not have any apparatus set up for controlling those workers.
    Despite subsidies, UK farmers claim they cannot "make it" without cheap labor AND government subsidies- both currently coming from the EU.
    With control over both subsidy payments (If the UK government decides to continue them) and with the approaching need as sole arbiter of the amount of available cheap foreign labor, May gets to shoulder two new burdens she will not like: how to spend farm subsidies for non-farm needs and not sure farmers and how to import and control cheap labor which must be rounded up and sent home the minute jobs run out.
    Two new problems created by Brexit, both avoidable with a little forethought, both unavoidable now

    Anyone else here who usually shares O'Brien opion, but finds it unbearable the way he doesn't let people with opposing views speak their mind?

      If i was wrong, I would want to be corrected and not to spread lies on the radio that other people may believe, lies have to be stopped in their tracks as every human being is suggestable, then to believe that they can't be fooled, that whatever they believe is gospel truth, that they know the real truth, and if only someone will listen. They want people to listen but will not listen themselves, they want people to change their beliefs but not their own, every caller will not change their position as ever caller is 120% correct and know the real truth, ever caller wants to impose their truth as the truth and if James will only listen this bit of information will change everything, as no one else can understand this better than I can, no one, this is why I am calling in to tell people. I am doing the same writing this to you as a caller calling in, and no one will answer a question James asks, as they do not know the answer but they can deflect with the gab and misdirect to this problem, then that problem, they will never stand with their word, as soon as they say it they denied it, say they meant something different or meant something else completely.

      Loads! I assume he makes more than you and pays more tax. So his higher amounts of tax have housed more than you. Make sense?
