    Just purchased a 2023 Subaru cross trek two weeks ago and loving it so far! I’m coming from a Tacoma pro but due to having a new born and needing something more family friendly and better MPGs we opted for a Subaru cross trek. I’ve heard so much good things about them and their decent off-road capabilities that we decided to pick one up! Loving it so far and still feels like it can handle some decent off-road and camping adventures.

    on my 2022 crosstrek i run 15x7 black rhinos wrapped by 215/75R15. no lift kit.
    i had rekgen mud flaps installed at all 4 corners. no rubbing. no issues whatsoever except increase in cabin noise as you pointed out.
    a pair of diode dynamics amber/yellow fog lights will make your subie even look more handsome. 👍🏽

    I bought the same Harbor Freight roof rack, touched up the lightly rusted spot welds with rust converter and applied a generous coating of bed liner spray. No noticeable wind noise, the bed liner spray is a rough finish which interrupts the wind flow and noise.

    I went with the BFG KO2's 225/65 17" on my 2021 Sport .. replacing the Toyo Open Countries which failed due to a sidewall puncture .. and with the Subaru's you can't replace one tire, you have to replace them all. The Toyo's are a pMetric tire which gives you a 2 ply sidewall .. th BFG's are 'LT' or light truck and have a 3 ply sidewall and are 'D' rated. I have the Rough Country lift and the skid plate and a few other mods. By the way .. that roof rack will cost you 3 to 4 mpg .. I had the exact rack and aero bars .. no longer on the car for that reason. 🤠

      @jackschubert7013  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AL Thank you for your post! Yeah we will see how the Toyos hold up on the sidewall. TBH my gas mileage is pretty abysmal right now. I think I will do a test to see how much the rack is costing in MPG but I think 3-4 seems correct.

      Forgot to tell you to check out how the stock jack works with your current configuration .. mine was maybe ok for the side of the road and on pavement but in the dirt it's totally useless .. got a bottle jack that would work to pick the Trek up in dirt. The highlift jack from my Ford doesn't work on the Trek .. to much plastic. LOL 🤠

    Toyo open country lll are better if you don’t want the heavier KO2’s. Moreover, on the Toyo’s, they have duel side walls. One side is more aggressive then the other with more pronounce sipings or grooves while the other side is less aggressive looking. Allowing you to pick the particular style you like. 😊

  • @2nd6months
    @2nd6months 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    In my opinion, I think you’re choices are just fine for what you have described as your intended driving. The LT sidewalls are going to be a better choice for someone that intends frequent “aired down” driving. My preferences preclude spacer lifts, but that is also due to a difference in intended recreational use.

    Hey buddy pretty good looking car you got. And white with these wheels awsome!!! Your tyre choice make great sense since you will be on pavement most of the time and let me tell you that these tyres aint slouch when the pavement stop you will be surprise on how well they perform with between 16 to 26 psi 16 for rocks , rock slab and little creek crossing and on slow speed technical trerrain with roots and on off cambers 4x4 trails. And 26 for loose gravel roads and up to 30 on or hard pack to mixed conditions practicing rally techniques for the fun of it and experiencing new thrills you probably thoughts where not for you but beleive me you will have pretty good times and you will develop a sensation of control over your Subaru that is pretty cool cause these car are build for the pleasure of the driver and for is peace of mind the more you will ask of your Crosstrek the more you will get. Enjoy your beautiful ride and take her on a date with nature as often as you can!!! Take care and drive safely.

    Thanks for showing your car off for us. What are you doing about a spare. At least here in Australia, these come with either space saver spares or a puncture kit and pump. I'm thinking about having a rack fabricated for the back that hitches through the tow hitch point for when I do road trips. The other alternatives are fine for around town, but on longer trips the full size spare is a must for me. Also, are you looking at alternative mud flaps or wheel arch extenders?

    • @jackschubert7013
      @jackschubert7013  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great question, tbh I think I am going to risk it without a spare for now. I do plan on getting a full spare to keep in the garage, then if I go off-roading or on a long trip then I will probably strap it to the roof rack.

    With the lift, the Methods and Toyos it looks like it was supposed to be set up like that. Looks fantastic!! You mentioned the lug nuts so I'm curious, how have you theft-proofed these wheels? Where I live I could see cinder blocks beneath my car in the morning if I had those wheels. Also, how has this changed the accuracy of what your speedometer says vs your actual speed? Your mods and decisions to make this how you think it should be really came out sweet looking. Thanks for sharing your mods and thoughts about them.

I had two sets for my 2021 Crosstrek Sport. Those same Toyo brand with 16 inches wheels and the original. I can’t stand the noise when doing long road trips. Still thinking about lifting the car.

    I have a similar setup on my trek. Different wheels and no lift. My rally armor flaps don't rub at all, but I do rub in the same spot as you in the wheele well. What mud flaps did you try? Looks like the lift changes the amount of clearance between the tire and where the screws go? I was thinking about lifting mine but weighing pros and cons first. Not having the flaps is a bummer. Does the lift negatively effect your warranty? Also did you install it yourself?

    • @jackschubert7013
      @jackschubert7013  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! I tried the Rokblokz mud flaps, the clearance was slim but the tire was catching on the rounded screw head. If I try a flat-head screw, it MAY work. I could also use a heat gun and push back some of the bulky plastic - that is my last option.
      I love the lift though and would prefer it to having mud flaps. The trek looks soo much better and it feels more capable and "manly" lol
      The lift does NOT affect the warranty, I made sure of that! The warranty is only voided if the modification directly causes the issue.
      I did not install it myself, unfortunately, I don't have the proper equipment for it, especially since the lift kit included multi-link spacers for the sub-frame as opposed to just basic strut spacers.
